1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [Stellar Lumens] (STR/XLM) What we know so far about and why its price went up. on: May 07, 2017, 10:02:52 PM
Correction, Stellar is a VC that wants to support banks, it is not, even if a bank said they were interested tomorrow, it doesnt support a 500M market cap.  Ripple has some banks testing it and they are big banks, but most of them so far were also testing Ethereum and chose Ethereum.  Ripple is in no way worth $6Billion right now though it doesn have some potential worth considering.  Ripple was also cofounded by Mark Karpeles, let that mountain sink in.  Look, unless a new option comes up that has an overwhelming advantage over ETH, its not going to uproot ETH stronghold on the market, ETH is becoming the defacto standard in 2nd gen, smart contract and distributed app blockchain, none of these alternate second gen coin have a hope in hell right now of getting any significant (real customer base and income) market share in this arena.  The short of it is my opinion on your opinion is that there is no announcement that Stellar could be about to make that is worth $500M.

That said, I have been day trading STR and Ripple both and I really appreciate the ride, it has lined my wallet well.  But I am turning that money right back around into ETH and a couple of blockchain storage coins for the the long win.

I dont see what makes DeCred's any better than the other 600+ wallet-QT knock offs.  Does anyone have any insight other than listing the same features as every other wallet-QT with GUI interfaces and in this case I guess Charlie Lee's endorsement?  If this is all that it has going for it then I would say its way over valued.  That said, seems like a pump and dump to me as well but hey look at DASH, who knows where it might stop and how little or hard it may pull back.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: All in Decred, Lisk, Ethereum classic on: March 22, 2017, 05:44:52 AM
I cant speak to decred because I dont know enough about it but I think you guys have a pretty big misunderstanding of LISK and especially ETC potential especially compared to ETH.  First off, just as we saw with BTC and 600 coins to follow providing the same type of capability, the first major adopted will typically prevail. Lisk and ETC compared to ETH are at best represented as similar to comparing LTC to BTC.  Now ETC, HUGELY overvalued right now.  The reason that ETH is so valuable is because Microsoft built a blockchain as a service with an Ethereum foundation, because over 30 major multi-billion dollar companies have band together to invest in the development and integration of Ethereum into their business.  Many of those businesses did not feel comfortable with the blockchain due to the ability for a hack to bad programming resulting in millions in losses, those fear mitigated by ETH's mutation of the offending block.  So what does ETC have that ETH does not, it has no multi-billion dollar companies using it or desiring to use it, it has a group of blockchain fundamentalist that brag because its immutable as if that is special, there are over 600 other virtual currencies proven immutable, really the only thing it has going for it is name recognition and a starting market cap due to a hard fork.  I am not saying ETC cannot be successful but it wont be successful in the financial and major corporate markets which is where ETH is deriving its success.  ETC in NO WAY is worth $223 million right now, in NO WAY worth more than LISK, in NO WAY is it 10 time better than similar coin at a 10th the market cap.  And Lisk, the problem with Lisk is that it was too late to the game, you cant uproot Ethereum in major financial and corporate markets unless your product provides significant advantage and still will need to be championed by some major players to compete.

IMO the the commerce market is owned by BTC (Unless this fork kills its hold (unlikely)) and the smart contract & distributed app market is owned by ETH and my opinion is backed by facts and market cap.  Lastly the next big frontier I see being a huge opportunity is blockchain storage which is a huge untapped potential in the blockchain sector.  The major contenders are MAID, SIA & STORJ that I know of.  In reality they dont 100% overlap in what they offer so they could all 3 co-exist but they are all far enough along in their development it will be hard for another contender to compete at this point.  I suspect some lucky blockchain storage solution will be the next huge investment opportunity in crytpo, I just dont know which one will rise first or most.  I feel like the SAFENet is the most innovative, capable and revolutionary solution and at minimum will revolutionize P2P if not the Internet itself but SIA has a strong focus on the very lucrative corporate market, STORJ is officially out of BETA and fully released but in a form that the average end user cannot take advantage of despite marketing to the average end user.

Anyway, if you are buying into ETC and LISK for more than just day trading, good luck to you but I recommend you re-evaluate the fundamentals that have made other crypto's financially successful and adopted by the mainstream and ask yourself if these coins offer the same advantages over their competition.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CoiniumServ - open source & high performance pooled mining server software on: December 20, 2014, 04:50:18 AM
I admittedly had the same issue when I went to download the bins but I just downloaded the last version and it installed fine and reported the problem.  I then figured out how fairly simple it is to compile these if you have the .Net framework installed which you must.  I didnt probably do everything right but enough to get the new version up and going at least, prior to the recompiling on the website.

But now I have another unrelated problem, I did encrypt my wallets, am I screwed and have to start new dat files and reconfigure all the dependencies on the old addresses now or is there some way to configure them in the JSON script?  In the meantime I have set the walletpassphrase in the wallet consoles in order to continue operating.  Your advice is appreciated.
