When a country’s economy or currency is struggling or on the brink of collapse, the citizens start to move money out of the nation to protect their savings from the devaluation. Nine times out of ten, the economic downturn is caused by poor governance and economic policy, not the citizens. Therefore, the people would rather invest their money in appreciating assets, not poor leadership and economic decline. I can't help but wonder how long til the regulators decide this new policy disparately impacts minorities (hispanic) and fines them into oblivion? So instead of paying the 2% fee they just close operations. Pretty funny that Paypal is against such fees when they take more themselves. In an ideal world this would help bitcoin but doubt many people will move to it. |

10 people out of the entire planet?  I'm sure there are people that would return it, but many multiples more that wouldn't. If someone accidentally sent it to you and wanted it back then you should. But what happens if the person doesn't have access to that wallet any more? |

Well I think the argument is people can choose which one they want to use. Want bigger blocks? Then change. Dont? Then don't Satoshi almost certainly died a few years ago.

For now is everthing ok. We have nothing to worry about the XT will slowly fade away and die. YEah there's no evidence to suggest he's dead (though of course it's still a possibility). |

Why would you use Bitcoin debit cards anyway? We have apps in our mobile phones for micro transactions. We don't need physical debit cards with high % fees.
Well how can you spend coins on your highstreet as nearly ever shop doesn't accept bitcoin. These cards just give you the option to spend your coins directly. |

I think it'll have a tough job competing with bc.info as that is already a pretty solid wallet especially for an online one. Thjough it does seem more like a traditional wallet: In this sense, Lee created ArcBit in such a way that all private keys stay on the clients’ device; unlike Blockchain.info, which stores encrypted copy of the wallet on their servers.

This does sound interesting and can incentivize seeders. Hate leechers. Here in Germany they go after BitTorrent by prosecuting the seeders. They get the IP address of the seeder then go to the ISP to find out the owner of that IP address (linked to an address). They then send a letter in the mail to the owner of that Internet contract telling them that they will be fined for illegally sharing copyrighted content. People should be using proxies for torrents. Simple solution to stop this. My former landlord received one such letter because "one" of his tenants, who shall remain nameless, was seeding. The fine was somewhere around 900 euros each for 2 different movies. Fighting it involves getting a lawyer and trying to get the fine down.
When I was home visiting my mother she received a nastygram e-mail and phone call from Comcast because "one" of her sons, who shall remain nameless, just happened to have BitTorrent running with some seeded files. Of course, in the US there is no enforcement behind such notices so I told her to ignore it.
Most letters that get sent out are harmless are just designed to scare you or to cough up money you dont need to pay (most will just pay the fine out of fear). |

One of the major criticisms thrown at Bitcoin is its inability to stabilize on the market. It is volatile, and this often leads speculators to doubt the efficacy of this digital currency to become the universal payment system It might be unstable now but there's nothing stopping it from achieving that later on. I think its bound to be a rocky road until bitcoin gains mainstream traction. Some even view Bitcoin as a mere alternative to the national fiat currencies while others believe it is better off on niche markets like online gaming.
I think it can and will be both, but it will obviously find its footing in niche markets such as gaming or micropayments. I think many tech online stores will accept it and it'll spread from there. |

Get a liteclient and write the seed down. Then make many back ups of you wallet and keep the wallet.dat files offline on a usb stick and a cd-r etc. You're doubly protected then. Just make sure your computer is safe when it comes to spending them.

I don't get it. Why would they need to fake a raid on the compound if they were going to say he was taken out in a drone strike? I don't buy this version of events but I don't buy the official story either. Never releasing his corpse or autopsy pictures was always a red flag for me too.

Hmm.. this is a predicament and is hard to say what the right thing to do is. I'm leaning towards telling the parents of the kids but like you said the insurance covers it. I'm not justying what the children did but I'm sure we all did silly things we regret as children. Maybe they learnt their lesson but if you see them again I'd give them a warning or tell them you'll tell their parents next time. If you can identify the shits, I would say you should do the right thing by notifying the authorities. Otherwise just mind your own business.

If you live in the US, can you pay your taxes with Euros? Most would argue that Euros are money, yet you cannot pay your taxes with them.
If you live in the US, Euro is a foreign currency only, not money. It's still money. Just because it's a foreign currency doesn't mean someone cannot accept it. It's still wealth. Some coiuntries even accept many other currencies from around the world. Some countries in Africa actually prefer dollars or euroes to their own fiat. Bitcoins, gold, silver and foreign currencies can be used like money, they have the properties of money, but they are not money, since money is something enforced by a government power. That might be the definition of legal tender, but foreign currency is still money. Besides, I think the very definition of what is money has changed or at least evolved with bitcoin. Bitcoin is money to me regardless of a government not issuing it. It's still issued by the bitcoin software and issued fairly at that. |

Actually this is not just "some" evidence that is here. There were way too many coincidences that happened that day or the days prior to 9/11. Mathematically it is impossible. If you think about it, this 'terrorist fight' hasn't yielded any results so far, but with it, they have justification for spying on the population.
Very true. Actually, the Patriot Act as a whole was a huge hit (not in a good way) on our civil liberties and basic freedoms. Most people are just too oblivious to it as long as they get the constant "feel good" stream of crap from the media and are totally absorbed in the latest from the music and gaming industries to the point of not knowing or not caring what is actually going on in the world around them. Seems people these days are more interested in the latest app, Facebook post or Tweet to really care about important things. The Patriot Act is the biggest piece of evidence in my opinion that something shady went on. It just gets passed a month or so after 9/11 without a peep and that was the beginning of the end of our liberties. Terrorism is always used to scare people into believing they're under threat and to protect everyone we need to spy on everyone in the process. |

Yeah i know unfortunatetly . Lets say i have a keylogger (thiugh this person only tried to access my wallet only all other websites are untouched) would win7->win8-> formatting would help? I am considering getting a new vomputer anyway . Eventually this looks like it is definetly be over if i get a new computer right?
Reformatting will do the trick. It's like having a brand new computer. You could use ubuntu instead as well. Very unlikely you'll get any viruses or keyloggers on that so your coins will be much safer than on windows. |

I think this is a good wake up call for everyone but I think bitcoin can still be anonymous, you've just got to be really careful. Like you can be anonymous on the internet if you use proxies or tor, but if you're not careful it's pretty easy for law enforcement to catch you.
