1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Grrrr. So Close, I can taste it. HELP: LKETC USB miner on Pi or Mac.... on: January 23, 2015, 11:35:45 AM
Hi there;

I am new to bitcoin mining, but pretty good with technology as a whole.  As a Father/Son project, I recently purchased a couple of USB LiteCoin Scrypt miners (I bought them here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-shipping-hot-selling-litecoin-USB-miner-220kH-s-scrypt-miner-Litcoin-miner-send-out-in/2019121334.html ).  These have some drivers on them - they came with the Miner and are all Windows based (or so they seem) - but I am strictly a Mac / Pi user.

I found the site that had alternative drivers for Mac at this site : https://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx   And they look identical in form to the Window Drivers I received on the miner - so I think these Mac versions should work.

So, I need some help in determining how to connect these Miners to a Mac.  I am so close, I can taste it. Huh

I use BFGMINER and I am pretty sure the drivers have been loaded correctly, but no matter what I try, I cannot see the devices - nor can BFGMINER run with them attached.

If you've got a play-by-play of what I should do -I warmly welcome your help!!
I am happy to abandon the Mac idea if you've got a viable route using a Pi !!!

Can someone help me?
Many thanks in advance.....
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gridseed Miner is Not Playing Nice - and I don't know what to do next ???? on: January 18, 2015, 04:48:00 PM
Thanks.
Tried reconnecting it numerous times and recycling the power.  Green light flashes, but no red light and no hashing results in the miner app.  Yes, I think it is toast.  Too bad.  Are these fixable - or should I recycle it?

Hi;

My son and I got into Bitcoin mining as a little technical project.  We are having fun - and (as usual) - I wanted to get the whole rig we are using to work perfectly.  So far, the answer has eluded me - so I am posting this for some help ...

We have 6 Gridseed miners (Scrypt only mode enabled) and one larger 5Mh scrypt miner (which is working fine).  I am running them on a Mac, BFGMiner ver 5.0.0 and have come a long way sef-helping myself.

One of the Gridseed miners consistently fails to hash.  No RED light. Ever.  I have tried various cables / USB cables, moving it around with other Gridseed that are working - so I am pretty sure the equipment / HUB / cables / PSU and software is fine.

Here is a copy/paste from BFGMiner:
 GSD 5:       | 353.6/351.2/265.9kh/s | A:  39 R: 1+0(.70%) HW:0/none
 GSD 6:       | 257.1/275.3/  0.0kh/s | A:   0 R: 0+0(none) HW:0/none
 GSD 7:       | 353.6/351.2/250.0kh/s | A:  46 R: 1+0(.74%) HW:0/none

The last figure (Effective Average) according to some detailed messages in forums I have visited NEVER goes above 0.0 for this miner.  No red light, no hashing?Huh

I have rebooted several time, sometimes the Gridseed number changes on the BFGMiner page - but when I look at the Gridseeds, I can tell it is the one without a red flashing hashing light that is at fault.

What can I do?  Or is this hashing and I am getting a false negative?

4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Gridseed Mini / Orb / 5 Chip on Raspberry Pi - Dual Mining Mode the Easy Way on: January 17, 2015, 10:02:48 PM
Grrr;

OK.  I am trying to replicate this - but I am an absolute beginner. I am technical (just inexperienced in these matters).
Any chance you can go thru what you did here in a more verbose way?

My objective is easy:  I bought a bunch of Gridseed miners (Dual Mode - 5 chip type) and I want to run a Raspberry Pi as the main 'controller' and communicator to the pools.   I think I got most of the HASHRA software to work (ver 1.4.5) but it is hit and miss.

I think I need:
10x Gridseeds (got)
1x PSU 1200W (got)
Cables (got)
1x 10 port powered hub (4A) (got it - but having issues - think it is because it is a USB 3.0 type?).
Raspberry Pi (got)
Lots of intention and time

Is there a Pi Image that you can point me to?

Many thanks in advance.

5  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: If you are part of the latest HASHRA SCAM please reply here... on: January 12, 2015, 11:55:58 AM
Yes,

New user to this forum - and I've purposely joined to ask about Hashra.
Seems to me that Hashra may have wanted to be legit - and they've succumbed to factors that were out of their control.
Yes, I think (based on all that I have read) that Hashra has gone rouge.  But there sure is a lot of incriminating evidence left behind (addresses, corporate records, photos of the Simon, phone numbers, bank account details ....).

So be it.   Off to buy some Bitcoin mining equipment from somewhere else......

Thanks.

OK;

So I am relatively new to Bitcoin mining - and I am absorbing as much as possible.

I found Hashra's web site and wanted to find out more about the company.  There seems to be plenty of press (some good, most bad).
The industry is plagued with delays and false representations - from a number of contributors (manufacturers, sales reps, online publications, forums, equipment resellers etc etc).  However, this is not that different from the mid 1980's when the PC market was rocking and delivery delays were as rampant as misrepresentations  (yes, I lived through that and remember all too fondly placing an order for an Apple IIc slimline computer and waiting 8 months for it to be delivered).  Eventually, the manufacturers caught up to demand.

Do we definitively know that Hashra is, in fact, a SCAM?  Can someone provide some sort of non-emotive update?

With thanks.
