Is this project still ongoing? I haven't seen anything recently.

What's going on here? After the fork pools don't even have 10 % of the global hash rate. Is this an ASIC coin now?

https://coinimp.com

it's called Webchain for a reason.

no ASICs. no GPUs. even mini ASICs like Threadrippers got served.

The threadripper throttle is definitely disappointing. It's a consumer grade CPU, and now it's even more unprofitable to mine Webchain with it.

Fork happened as planned, here is new wallet that you should use after the fork (old one will cause errors during transactions), https://github.com/webchain-network/webchain-wallet/releases/tag/v1.2.1

We also remind to update your miner that we released 2 weeks ago, https://github.com/webchain-network/webchain-miner/releases

I've updated my miner on all my machines. I"m getting about 50% of the original hashrate. According to the network hashrate that appears to be widespread. Is this expected?

Thats an awesome hash rate now  Smiley

Not sure if what your referring to is this, but ram slots determine whether or not you will see true DDR from it. I just fixed my sons gaming rig, and his step brother had moved the ram around on it and had lost its Dual MODE DDR. Once the ram sticks were configured back, the motherboard bios stated ram was in DDR Dual Mode (and not single) anymore. It wasn't before. And his gaming has improved now. ok, was just wondering if that had maybe the impact on your CPU? lol... but glad to hear you got it straight. Thats fast!!

PS: I am getting 363 hashes on AMD 8350 8 core   Roll Eyes

My motherboard is very similar to this one:

https://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/ProductImage/13-157-784-V06.jpg

I've seen on dual CPU motherboards that each section of 4 ram slots is dedicated to 1 CPU.  If you put 2 CPUs in and only use 1 section of ram slots then only 1 CPU will actually work.  (Not sure if that is universal for all motherboards). I placed all of my ram onto the right side of the motherboard & could max out my hashing on 8/16 cores. So my assumption is that my OS can see all 16 cores in the CPU, but can only utilize 8 to their full potential.  Moving a ram stick from the right side onto the left instantly fixed my problem and let me use up to 16/16 cores.

Anyone willing to share their hash-rate?

I'm currently getting around 500 h/s on a 2950x. Can't seem to push it any higher than that using the cryptonight-webchain miner. Is that a good speed?

{
    "algo": "cryptonight-webchain",
    "av": 0,                // algorithm variation, 0 auto select
    "background": false,    // true to run the miner in the background
    "colors": true,         // false to disable colored output
    "cpu-affinity": null,   // set process affinity to CPU core(s), mask "0x3" for cores 0 and 1
    "cpu-priority": null,   // set process priority (0 idle, 2 normal to 5 highest)
    "donate-level": 5,      // donate level, mininum 1%
    "huge-pages": true,
    "hw-aes": null,
    "log-file": null,       // log all output to a file, example: "c:/some/path/webchain-miner.log"
    "max-cpu-usage": 75,    // maximum CPU usage for automatic mode, usually limiting factor is CPU cache not this option.
    "print-time": 60,       // print hashrate report every N seconds
    "retries": 5,           // number of times to retry before switch to backup server
    "retry-pause": 5,       // time to pause between retries
    "safe": false,          // true to safe adjust threads and av settings for current CPU
    "threads": 16,        // number of miner threads
    "user-agent": null,
    "watch": false,

I think you should be getting double that.

Here are some tips:

1. If you're using Windows, make sure you're running the miner as admin, otherwise it will not allow for huge pages.
2. Setting cpu affinity helps. Instead of "threads": 16, use this to affine the threads each to a physical core:

"threads": [
        {"low_power_mode": false, "affine_to_cpu": 0 },
        {"low_power_mode": false, "affine_to_cpu": 2 },
        {"low_power_mode": false, "affine_to_cpu": 4 },
        etc. until 16 threads...
        {"low_power_mode": false, "affine_to_cpu": 30 }
],

I've spent several hours trying to figure out why I can't get a better hashrate.  I seem to be getting the best hashrate when using 8 threads (which maxes out around 700). After doing a TON of googling and reading through forums I realized that my solution was much simpler... I have 8 slots on my motherboard from RAM.  I placed my ram sticks on one side of the motherboard (which means that the CPU couldn't use all 16 cores to their full potential) I moved one stick over to the other side and I can get a max of 1400 h/s on 16 threads.  Although, i've got this tuned to 12 cores to try and keep the temp down.  (I'm still getting 1050 h/s which seems reasonable enough)

Are we using the github master or e1ghtSpace-patch-1 for our main files? I wrote something that should make creating a spreadcoin node a bit easier on linux.

Nevermind, realized it was smarter to create a new repository. If this made your life easier I wouldn't mind a bit of love my direction.

Let me know if you find any errors.

Looks good. I'm almost inspired to hunt around for my linux memory stick over the holiday season.

I tested this using a VPS. It will be good for setting up an easy VPS. I think easy install software is lacking from the coin community.

Let me pose a question that doesn't seem to be mentioned much.  Why have we generally moved on from CPU mining? I get that GPUs are better at hashing out information, but there has to be a way to bring back CPU mining again.  Everyone has a CPU, less people have a GPU. If we really want to decentralize we need to make sure everyone can get a crack at this.

So u see, bro u got the answer, see which part of ur post is emboldened. GPUs are faster and less prone to chip overheat than CPUs. Note, u have to get a standalone cooling kit for ur CPU if it is assumed to run 24/7 throughout 10 moon cycles and not allowed to rest even when u wank off ur cucumber, laying in a comfy bed of ur dad. GPUs aint as demanding as CPUs are, u can get a GPU of ur choice which comes with standalone cooling system made by asscheeked asus or affiliate brands. If u have where to live, u can heat that place with an average aftermarket GPU while CPU can only heat ur underarms. Do u get me? GPU transistors come cheaper than cpu stamps. GPUs are cheaper than CPUs, fact which is known to every penis out there. Why the hell do u ask?

I was under the impression that decentralizing was the goal, not maxing out profits.

Mr Spread answered concerns by himself.  So georgem should't be able to?  Peopls' memories are very short in crypto...

It's all about the quick buck. Remember that Bitcoin's dev disappeared and the community didn't' exactly have a direct plan of action.

I honestly think SPR needs to pull away from Mr. Spread.  We could maintain SPR and Spreadcoin while unofficially calling it Widespreadcoin. This would especially be influential when getting service nodes out there.  Pasting "WideSpreadCoin" around a few of our websites wouldn't hurt. I'm very interested in contributing more to this coin, with my first area of focus being on wallet/user interaction.

All the dead links that still point to Mr. Spread's stuff will become irrelevant once we have MORE links pointing to the new stuff. (That's how google etc works)
You can call Spreadcoin whatever you like, but I want to represent the brand SPREAD.

Everything (r)evolves around SPREAD.

 Smiley

Why not create a blog, explorer, price charts or something along that line and put it on your site?
Then use the official spreadcoin links there.
This will help!

I will definitely look into this option and see what I can come up with.

It is currently pointing at the same IP as spreadcoin.info if someone wants to set it up.

nice wordplay, I like it!  Smiley

I didn't literally mean a fundraiser. I meant more like, sell off some SPR to get a higher trade volume on bittrex, then donate the bitcoin to the dev, then buy spreadcoin.com with it.

If you want to buy spreadcoin.com feel free to do so, you can then own it yourself in the name of the community.
Let's decentralize ownership of domains, I certainly don't need to own all of them.

BTW, I saw you did a small commit on spreadcoin github?
Care to elaborate?  Smiley

Yes, I was trying to compile an SPR node on a new Ubuntu server.  It looks like boost c++ libraries have been updated significantly, meaning that I had a constant error when trying to compile from source.  The commit was simply a fix to call for the current boost library. Everything appears to compile appropriately now and I have it running 24/7 on my VPS. If anyone does have an issue with this new commit please let me know.

I think the biggest reason Spreadcoin isn't out there more is due to the fact that Mr. Spread is plastered over everything. If you google this thread you get his bitcointalk, his github is everywhere.  I think enough time has passed that this coin could do something to break away from its predecessor. It needs a re-branding of sorts.

You guys could consider a fundraiser for purchasing spreadcoin.com Looks like it's valued around $600 right now. This would solve your bittrex problem and get you a sweet domain name.

The problem is that “you guys” === “this altcoin community” === “the current set of pseudonymous operators of nodes in this specific peer-to-peer network” is inherently unable to meet the requisite legal standards for the provision of detailed identification of the members of the controlling body and so can have no legal existence in any jurisdiction, afaict. Any ownership is by an individual - who may or may not be one of “you guys” ...

And welcome back

I don't need to rename it -- I already own the USPTO trademark on it :p
