1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Dgb plugin for CUBECART PLEASE? on: July 17, 2018, 07:47:08 PM
Hello dear Community ,
Does anybody know if there is a DGB Payment gateway plugin for CUBECART sites please?

If not , which is the easiest dgb Paymemt , ready to work for a WordPress site please?

Thank you for your time

Not sure if a plugin is available just yet, I recall a request for devs to rise to this and similar challenges a little while back. You may wish to visit  https://t.me/DigiByteDevelopers  and ask Josiah or someone who can give you a definitive answer to this question probably.

Good luck.

A plug-in has been available for a long time on Coinpayments.net and I have personally been accepting DGB payments for well over a year now. Same thing/different business.

what i don't get about the taxes thing, is lets say you purchase something with crypto. what tax would be applied to that event?

The value you got for the crypto minus what you paid for it is a capital gain. That is the taxable event. Every trade, every transaction now creates a taxable event. If you took a loss then you can deduct the loss (if you can document it) from your other capital gains.

You are all running around talking about how great it is that DGB (and others) are not considered a security and then give bogus BS statements like above.

Do you even know the difference between securities, capital gains, income tax, and how they relate?

Quote
Short-term capital gains occur on securities held for one year or less. These gains are taxed as ordinary income based on the individual's tax filing status and adjusted gross income. Long-term capital gains are usually taxed at a lower rate than regular income. The long-term capital gains rate is 20% in the highest tax bracket. Most taxpayers qualify for a 15% long-term capital gains tax rate.

What this means is that for all of you, and we are talking about more than 95% here that claim to be HODL'rs - your coins will be held for longer than a year. If that is the case, then you will reap NO BENEFIT from DGB (or others) not being considered a security, and the lower tax rate that comes from long-term capital gains.

I understand where you got your answer above, from the most recent IRS published position on crypto. But a distinction and better understanding of securities, long and short-term capital gains, as well the difference between capital gains tax rates versus regular income should be the focus. If the SEC adopts a position, the IRS has to adjust their position to meet that set standard. One sets the criteria and the other enforces it (at the barrel of a gun and threat of prison).

I have never seen an IRS agent at the convenience store making sure that I pay the proper tax. I am never going to see one there making sure I have documentation that I paid all taxes required on my crypto prior to exchanging it for real-world goods.

However, I can assure you that if DGB (or any crypto) 'moons' and you have them for more than a year, cashout on an exchange, they will be there and you are going to wish the crypto had been considered a security and taxed at the long-term capital gains rate rather than at the regular income tax rates.

btw; the exact percentages above are older numbers yet the difference between the two (income vs capital gains taxes) remains (and with good reason).

Also - I am only speaking to the U.S.A.

Well, even the folks here don't understand taxes at all either.

Otherwise, you would not hear folks declaring that the SEC not considering various Crypto Coins as securities as a good thing.

Trades of securities fall under the umbrella of Capital Gains Tax (in the US), and if they are not securities, then they have to be considered income.

Let's see, what would I rather pay:

Capital Gains Tax - 15%
Income Tax - 22% or more. But wait, it doesn't stop there. Add in SS Tax, Medicare, and all those other taxes that are included SEPARATELY on your paycheck. Those incidentals are also part of the 'income tax.' Also called 'Payroll Taxes'. You might very well now be above 30%

Now, which would you rather pay?

You need to reinstall the USB - UART Drivers as it seems as though they were lost/corrupted, etc..

Lay of the dope and you would have known that. lol

What are you talking about. DGB was never premined. They created a genesis block and mining commenced. Nobody ever got any free. No ICO. No premine. None of that scam shit. This is an honest coin.

 Huh

The Pre Mine is Not A Revelation By Any Means!

Thank you for that explanation.

just by coincidence, after I posted this question I received a stake reward and I understand what you said because it only had a portion of my total balance listed in Stake: while the tx was confirming. Once confirmed it added the stake balance back to my total balance.

As far as that second part of my question about coin configuration; you might remember I was talking with you on Discord the other evening about CoiniumServ and mining and trying to get the solved blocks recognized by CoiniumServ and into the DB.

It does mine and I receive the entire 1.75 LCP in my wallet when I solve a block but it is not being recognized by CoiniumServ for some reason and that is what I was trying to figure out. I am trying this configuration now and just waiting to hit another block to see if it works.

Code:
{
    "name": "LiteCoinPlus",
    "symbol": "LCP",
    "algorithm": "scrypt",
    "site": "http://litecoinplus.co/",
    "blockExplorer": {
        "block": "http://lcp.altcoinwarz.com:3004/block/block.dws?",
        "tx": "http://lcp.altcoinwarz.com:3004/tx/tx.dws?",
        "address": "http://lcp.altcoinwarz.com:3004/address/address.dws?"
    },
    "options": {
"isProofOfStakeHybrid": true,
"blockTemplateModeRequired": true,
"useDefaultAccount": true,
"txMessageSupported": true,
"SubmitBlockSupported": true
    },
"node": {
        "magic": "cefbfadb",
        "testnetMagic": "cdf1c0ef"
    }
}

I don't know if any of that bottom section seems to ring a bell as it relates to the source for LCP. I have browsed through it a bit but not thoroughly. Of course, I am not a coder either so it would just about all be greek to me.

Thanks. See you on Discord.

Thanks for that info on the Coin Control feature. I could have used something like that on my Nano S hardware wallet at one time when I received a boatload of dust from DGB P2Pool mining and it messed things up so bad I had a huge amount of trouble trying to get my coins out of the wallet.

I have a question about staking in LCP though. When I hover over the arrow it pops up with the following:

Staking.
Your weight is xx
Network weight is xxxxx
You have a 50% chance of producing a stake in 2 day(s).

Is staking something like a lottery? I had read that staking was 15% but it would seem by the statement made that it 'could' be 15% or maybe not.

If there is a link that details better how that works then I would be interested in reading it and save you from having to explain it all here.

Also. as it relates to how the wallet would interact with a mining pool, would Peercoin be close to LCP in getting blocks and RPC interaction?

This would be a coin definition in a particular mining software for Peercoin:

Code:
{
    "name": "Peercoin",
    "symbol": "PPC",
    "algorithm": "sha256",
    "site": "http://peercoin.net/",
    "blockExplorer": {
        "block": "https://abe.peercoinexplorer.net/block/",
        "tx": "https://abe.peercoinexplorer.net/tx/",
        "address": "https://abe.peercoinexplorer.net/address/"
    },
    "options": {
"isProofOfStakeHybrid": true,
"blockTemplateModeRequired": true,
"useDefaultAccount": true
    }
}

Disregard the sha256 algo of course. Does that seem to make sense to how the LCP wallet works? If not, what would be a coin that is closest to LCP in RPC mining interface and requirements for coin definition?

True, there are many good reasons besides illegal ones for wanting privacy but I believe DigiByte or Bitcoin, not much difference here, can be private enough to cover these. Unfortunately most of the evidence suggests that people using private coins are not using them for legitimate private reasons and these coins will either be found not to be as private or perhaps not even secure as everyone has been lead to believe. They will probably be regulated into positions where they are only being used for illegal activities and not in the mainstream at all. I suspect Verge is holding up more because of its distribution and big players are aware that the issues can be fixed and a ‘hack’ is not necessarily a bad thing because it leads to improvement!  If the coin was well distributed amongst crypto noobs, most of them would be concerned enough that you would see this in the market place.

Fair enough. You make some valid points. My suggestion of adding privacy is not intended to denigrate DGB because I really think the coin is undervalued and, in my opinion, if it had the ability for the user to choose to use open or secure as XVG does then I personally think it could do a world of good toward wider adoption.

I will not mention it again.

Who needs more privacy coins? I could care less because not into crypto to hide assets.

I guess the coin is tailor-made for you then.

For some reason, I was under the impression that the Digibyte community had the goal of widespread usage and not just for those that 'don't care' ...

There are many reasons to want privacy that fall far from hiding assets or tax evasion.

how can XVG have 2 hacks in 3 days and still be up 14%, what are we doing wrong amd dgb still struggling

$DGB is not a 'privacy' coin.

If the developers were to incorporate privacy into Digibyte it would fare much better.

Finally got my MLD2 running on a pi with a power injector and to think I started learning about mining 3 weeks ago. Is there a way to automatically start BFG miner when the pi starts?

There are other ways but this is what I did and posted as reference.

Setting Up The ML2 To Auto Run In Detached Screen Using Raspberry pi3

Thanks but I don't even want a remote terminal.
I just want the Pi3 to start mining when its turned on without any intervention.
I assume this can be done?

You must not have read that otherwise, you would realize that it does exactly what you are asking for. No keyboard. No monitor. Or with keyboard and monitor. Does not matter. Both methods to access the pi3 will still allow the instance of BFGMiner to run each time it boots.

Anytime it starts it automatically runs rc.local and will run that command line you placed in there in a detached screen. If you SSH into the pi3 you would simply type in screen -r and it will bring up the process. When you are done looking at it just click on the 'X' to close the screen.

jstefanop,
                I know this may not be the appropriate thread (not sure) but I am doing this in public so that if anyone else has questions as to the "authenticity" of these devices, they can reference this thread.

                After 30 days of use, a buyer on eBay is attempting to get a return by claiming:

"Doesn't seem authentic"
"this is not the second batch of version 2"

                I am asking if you can weigh in on the high res photos of the devices and explain a little for my own reference in case why these are indeed the latest ML2's that you put out.

I would appreciate you weighing in, please.

My personal bet would still be to at least try a different hub. I've tried like 6 different high quality, high powered usb hubs from well known brands. Every one of them was much more expensive than the one i'm using now but none was able to keep up. I ended up using 2 or 3 hubs just to supply enough power (1 hub per moonlander!).
In my opinion, this 10 port hub is a lot cleaner to place with just 1 usb cord and 1 power supply. So no hardware with open connections cluttering around etc. (Plus a lot smaller to place)

When i get the extra 5 moonlanders in that i have on order it will be nice to see if the stability stays with this hub.

Thanks for the vid btw! Wish i had that many MLD's Smiley

Another thing @jakegoodwin586: Have you changed the setting for the voltages on the core and or memory? Can you post a pic of the pot settings?

There is one other area that I suggested to Jake which may or may not be of interest here but folks often will overlook. The stability of the power source (coming from the wall) and if it is steady or sometimes fluctuates.

I have lived in areas (both in the US as well as abroad) where the power grids were not as stable as they are for me here. I never have lights dim, then go back bright, I rarely have power outages (only during heavy storms), and am fortunate not to experience surges. I will bet there are many areas that have massive fluctuations in power consistency coming from the wall.

I could be wrong but just something for others to think about when troubleshooting many ML2's being used.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: March 20, 2018, 01:43:05 AM
Thanks!

That board is your problem, it only provides 500ma per usb port. As you can see in my post above, the MLD's easily go over 2 amps!

That is not the exact USB hub he is using. It is actually the newer blue Block Erupter 49 port with a 50 amp fuse.

Here is a picture of that exact same board delivering 2.55 amps to an ML2 that was stock settings to determine amperage draw.

This a screenshot of the exact same hub running 9 ML2's at about 600 Mhz if I remember correctly.

And here it is running there exact same devices he is using and the exact same USB hub 6 @ 600 Mhz also.

My point is that the blue hub is shown on eyeboot to deliver .5 to 1 amp/slot but that is when considering all 49 ports being used. As you can see, the hub is very much capable of delivering the required amperage with the ATX Power Supply he has which has a rating of 50 amps on the 5 volt rail.

And, further, the exact same ML2's and the exact same hub and power supply he is using (i sold him the setup and those are the exact ones I sent him). Notice it had been running 19 hours when I took this screenshot and the core freq must have been around 756 to 800 or so since the hash rate was showing an average of about 4.5 Mhs

Furthermore, that setup was able to reliably run ten on one hub during testing when dialed back to about 600 Mhz or so.

https://youtu.be/JZ7FsLkRQaw

I just wanted to add my experience with that hub and I know what it can and can't do.

Thanks for the kind words Fred.

I am liquidating any and all assets and hitting the road on my motorcycle and see just what is going on in America instead of relying on the media filtering in order to fit an agenda.

I am in no hurry to sell these as I would need to remain around for a while after the sell and make sure all is OK. On top of that, the price just keeps on falling. Not a seller's market for sure.

Hope to hit the road around April 15th, after filing taxes deadline. I have my military retirement and compensation to live on so these can go in boxes till I return if need be.

I mention all that for a reason. There will be no need to keep the website up after I hit the road and I did not want people thinking I was some scammer after it comes down. I sell as part of my hobbies and not as a business.

But once again, your words mean a lot and thanks.  Wink
