1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NEON Wallet help on: March 09, 2018, 11:08:58 AM
Hello,

I use my Ledger Nano to gain access to my NEON (NEO) wallet - it works fine. I realised yesterday that I don't have any back up keys/passes etc for the NEON wallet. What should I do to protect myself with the NEON wallet, can I access my retrieval or keys so that I can note them down should something go wrong in the future?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / View private address on MEW on: January 21, 2018, 03:05:53 PM
I have 5 MyEtherWallet addresses and would like to back up/store my private keys. Anyone know how this is done?

If I log into one of the MEW addresses and click "View private address" it doesn't work. I can, however, view the private address on my Ledger Nano but can't write it down because it scrolls too quickly and then freezes (only showing a few characters).
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEED keys for MyEtherWallet on: January 21, 2018, 02:53:54 PM
My friend was on the phone and walked me through the process, he has not access to my keys etc. I since have learned that I don't need the Ledger Seed, rather I need the MyEtherWallet private keys for my 5 wallets. I've rephrased the questions and moved it to here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2798671.0
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / SEED keys for MyEtherWallet on: January 18, 2018, 10:34:28 AM
After buying a Ledger Nano, a friend of mine helped me unlock 5 individual ERC-20 Token addresses within MyEtherWallet. I can now store various alt coins within these 5 addresses/wallets using the Ledger Nano as access.

However, I realised that if I lost my Ledger Nano I don't have the SEED/security keys for the 5 MyEtherWallet addresses - is there a way to access this so I can make a note of it?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Telegram on: January 13, 2018, 01:15:28 PM
Hi guys,

I downloaded the Telegram App so that I can join the Wanchain chat group. After joining, I don't see any way to ask a question in the group (either publicly or privately).

What am I missing?

Yes that worked, shows how much I don't know! Tried to send you about $10 and I think it's gone through fine. Thanks for your help. I would like to send you $10 worth of Ripple too as you've been so helpful. What's your XRP address?
I don't have a Ripple wallet right now and looks like they require a reserve amount of 20 ripple to create your wallet (or something like this). So if you don't mind, you can send them to my Binance address and next week I may buy some more to hold.

That's what I see in Binance's deposit page: "Depositing Ripple to Binance requires BOTH a deposit address and a deposit Tag. If you fail to include the tag with your deposit the funds will be lost forever.".
(I don't know how difficult is to do this, so you don't need to send them If it's too much work for you)

XRP Address: rEb8TK3gBgk5auZkwc6sHnwrGVJH8DuaLh
XRP Deposit Tag: 108961721

PS. This is a new business model actually, set up a platform where noobies can get help and then pay once they've fixed their issues ... I wanted such a service because (remember) I wasted many days trying to get my BCH before you showed up!
That's a pretty neat idea! I would gladly participate in a platform like this. Not only for the tips, but because I really enjoy helping people who are starting in the cryptocurrencies world. Thank you again for the tips! That's actually the first time I got tipped. Cheesy

Yes that's fine, adding the tag is easy (in Ledger Wallet you click "Advanced"). I will send you XRP soon, basically when I next fire up my Ledger Nano! You really helped me loads and I wish you much success.
7  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ElectronCash wallet won't open (no surprise) on: January 03, 2018, 10:55:30 AM
Are you sure that's your correct BCH address? I opened my Ledger Nano Bitcoin Cash (Split) wallet and tried to transfer BCH to you several times but it always fails? I wonder if all the issues I had getting the BCH into my wallet somehow messed up and the funds are stuck?
That's weird... I actually had some BCH during the fork in this address, so I'm pretty sure it should work. Do you get any error message while trying to send the BCH? And is this only happening when you try to send them to my address?

The error message was simply "Error"! I haven't attempted to send to anyone else. Do you have BCH in your wallet at the moment? Can you open your wallet and copy the address once more to check?
I don't have any BCH atm.

I'm 100% that the address is correct: 1NinjabXd5znM5zgTcmxDVzH4w3nbaY16L
I also have this one which has a few satoshis on it (of BCH): 3DrtnT916Lzg2uicoJFLHAsef8XBdtiHUk

Try to do like this guy said (enable and use the BCH app): https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoincash/comments/7guvyv/sending_failed_ledger_nano_s_bitcoin_cash_error/dqmhotr/

I followed these instructions https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/6wf50x/recovering_your_bitcoin_cash_from_a_trustedcoin/ and although I couldn't complete step 21, I fumbled around and somehow now have an Electron Cash wallet open and it's showing +1515.43966 as the balance. If I click "send" I see that it will send mBCC (that is BITCONNECT COIN)? Where's my Bitcoin Cash!!?
Don't worry! This is your Bitcoin Cash and has nothing to do with Bitconnect.

The Electron Cash version you downloaded (which was necessary for this method) was released when the Bitcoin Cash community was deciding between the ticker BCH and BCC (which is BCH now).

BTW, 1000 mBCC = 1 BCC. You can change the display to BCC by going to Tools -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Change "Base Unit" to BCC.

Thank you everyone for your help.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / something odd happened with Nano S Wallet on: December 30, 2017, 12:36:59 AM
I wasn't sure if this was the correct forum thread but here goes.

I have a Ledger Nano S Hardware Wallet and something odd is happening...

I recently managed to claim my BCH, which currently sits in an Electron Cash wallet. I did a small test transfer from the Electron Cash wallet to my Nano S and it worked fine. Note that the BCH receiving address for my Nano S wallet ended with ***mfFAG.

So, I prepared to send another larger amount (I want to transfer all funds) but this time, when I clicked the "RECEIVE" button from within my my Nano S, the address was different?

I checked, I am definitely in my BCH wallet. Strange. I decided to send to this new (different) address anyway and the payment failed. So, I tried another payment but to the first address ending with ***mfFAG and once again it worked. I now have two payments from Electron Cash to the Nano S.

Questions:

1. Once I see BCH in my Nano S Hardware Wallet, are they "safe" or could they be deleted/revoked if address was found to be wrong?

2. In future I should always pay to address ending with ***mfFAG and ignore my Nano S "RECEIVE" address?

I am 100% certain my seed is correct, I wrote it 3 times and also printed it. I've just check and all are the same. Thanks for your next steps and the link, but what is TrustedCoin? I have never had that so not sure it applied to me?
If you have a 2FA wallet in Electrum, you are using TrustedCoin as an intermediary.

A good choice, but I would have chosen other coins. Example
Stratis
Ethereum Classic
Bancor Network
Neo
Please don't post if you can't be bothered to read the question.

I don't have a ledger so I can't walk you through the process but there was a step by step guide on their website. https://ledger.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005174789-How-to-install-and-use-Bitcoin-Cash-BCH-with-Ledger. It does say you have to have a tiny bit of BCH first maybe buy 0.0001 and go from there, goodluck to you!

Thanks but that ledger.zendesk.com article is rubbish, it doesn't explain anything so no help Sad

I went to Electrum wallet, then Wallet -> Seed but the "seed" link is greyed out? Let me elaborate, last week, I tried to log into my my Electrum wallet and it asked for my 2FA, but when I created the wallet it was not a 2FA. So I created a new wallet (within Electrum) and successfully made it 2FA and is showed the correct BTC amount. So, maybe a 2FA wallet does not contain the seed, by construction? I saved the seed on paper, I know it's correct because I am very careful.
If your wallet is a 2FA one, you can only see the seed while creating the wallet. So there is no way to recheck it again.

But anyways, the issue here is that Electron Cash don't have support for the TrustedCoin 2FA (the one from Electrum), so you can't just use the seed to restore the wallet in Electron Cash. That's what you will need to do: https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/6wf50x/recovering_your_bitcoin_cash_from_a_trustedcoin/

Well if you had funds on electrum wallet before bch fork, the easiest way to claim your bitcoin cash is:

1) Head to https://electroncash.org/ and download electron cash;

2) Proceed to install the software and run it

3) Create a new wallet -> standard wallet -> i already have a seed (paste your electrum seed)

4) Check your balance and enjoy

I tried this but I can't do step 3. because If I enter my Electrum seed into Electrum Cash, the "Next" button is greyed out. I am stuck and can't proceed.

To double check my seed, I went to Electrum wallet, then Wallet -> Seed but the "seed" link is greyed out?

Let me elaborate, last week, I tried to log into my my Electrum wallet and it asked for my 2FA, but when I created the wallet it was not a 2FA. I have the same issue. If I enter my Electrum seed into Electrum Cash, the "Next" button is greyed out. I've enter the seed in vertically, horizontally, with spaces, with a comma. Nothing works Sad
    The correct way is to just put a space between each word. "word1 word2 word3...";

If it doesn't work, maybe the seed you are trying to enter is wrong? Go back to your Electrum wallet, then go to Wallet -> Seed and recheck your seed. If for some reason you still can't continue, you can just open your already existent Electrum wallet file into Electron Cash as they are both compatible.[/list]

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / can ANYONE help on: December 29, 2017, 09:42:17 PM
Please guys, can someone help me. I've spent days and days watching videos and reading but no one explains clearly.

I am not technical so I just need a clear step by step explanation of how to get my BCH.

After purchasing the Ledger Nano S, I successfully transferred all of my Bitcoin from my Electrum software wallet to my new Ledger Nano S.

Now I would like to claim my Bitcoin Cash. I have the seed words for my Electrum software wallet.

Please help me understand how to do it - everything seems ridiculously complicated.

And what difficulties arose in the already prepared instructions?

I didn't know where to begin to be honest. Do I first create a BCH wallet within the Nano Ledger? I am nervous and want step by step instructions, I'm not technical either. Sorry!
