why don't will use paper clip ?

He is being on the cautious side which is not bad.  With what Phil suggested you cannot plug it in wrong, or it fall out.

The switch will work just as well as the paper clip but it is much easier to use.

Brute forcing a private key would be incredibly difficult considering that a password that is 10-15 digits is considered secure a private key would be beyond the computing capabilities of today. But in the future with large amounts of power it could be possible.

6  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If BTC/USD went to $0.00 tomorrow or diff = ∞ how would it affect you ? on: March 29, 2015, 07:02:26 PM
It would not effect me at all as I am not heavily invested in bitcoin at this point in time.

Also, for the hashrate bit, trust the hashrate displayed in BFGMiner. The pool hashrate is just an estimate at how often you submit shares and what difficult they are
Correct - the hash rate shown in mining / monitoring software is the best indication.

Fun little tidbit: The true hash rate of a typical ASIC miner can't be determined short of extreme measures.

As guitarplinker notes, the pool-side indication of hash rate is an estimate based on your shares and the difficulty thereof.
Similarly, websites' estimation of the total network hash rate is an estimate based on the blocks solved and the difficulty thereof.
But the same applies to the mining software - its indication is an estimate based on the number of nonces returned in a given period by the hardware for the fed difficulty (if not fixed).

Even if you know the number of hashes the chip should generate per clock cycle, and you know the clock frequency the chip's working at, you still can't just multiply the two together; every once in a while, the chip will just get it wrong.  Every time you see a HW error in mining software/monitors, that's not just indicative of the nonce it returned (after massaging, where applicable) not matching up with the software sanity check, but of every hash the chip generates.. but as the vast majority of the hashes never exit the black box, you can't check.  A manufacturer could even claim that the chip never has HW errors...and there would technically be no way to actually prove that.

Mining software/monitors do provide the best indication, though, as they can average estimated hash rate over very, very long periods of time with a lot more data fed into them, building confidence - often even taking said HW errors into account to get closer to a true hash rate.  Pools generally show your estimated hash rate over much smaller periods of time, and with a lot less data.

ok good to know I was right about that I was a little unsure.
8  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tesla updates software to roll out driverless cars in three months on: March 28, 2015, 08:55:23 PM
Sure I agree in this scenario a lot of jobs will be made obsolete. I suppose self-driving cars will be cheap, but not free. That money goes to the owner of the car I'm guessing? Leasing self-driving cars to use as taxis has got to be big business.

You could get your self driving car to become a taxi and make money for you when you are not using it! I assume the traditional taxi market would become obsolete if you could do this with self driving cars.

I think hash rates very based on your luck because if you get lucky and submit shares really fast then the reported has rate will be higher. I am not sure but I think it works this way when you check your hash rate pool side.

I don't think you should be advertising this on this forum because a lot of people are very angry about cloud mining ponzis.

If you are good enough to boost accounts to a high level then you should look into offering coaching services to help less experienced players get better you could probably charge 10-15 and hour depending how good you are.
12  Economy / Digital goods / Re: League of Legends Boosting on: March 27, 2015, 01:33:33 PM
If you boost people higher than there actual skill level wouldn't the system make them go back down to there actual skill level?

No it won't. They will be boosted to a higher level of course but they won't be demoted their division. The only way that can happen is if they are inactive for a few weeks they will decay or they lose like 10+ games in a row.

The only thing is if they are out of their skill level all that happens is they get stomped on. Usually people buy high elo for these reasons:
  • You get rewards for being high elo
  • You get to boast to your friends
  • I shit you not but there is a facebook group (league of hunnies) where if you are a diamond or higher player...females will just sleep with you just for being high elo. (I am not lying)

I was just coming from a dota perspective because that is the game I play and it is one of the problems with boosting. Is the ranking system more like csgo where you rank up and down from streaks?

So basically lets say I boosted someone to diamond. It doesn't matter where they started. If they start going on a losing streak and get 0 LP, after reaching 0 LP if they lose 5-10 games in a row they will be demoted to the lower division platinum. I mean no matter how much you suck you should be able to get at least 1 win to make you stay in the division (being carried by your team or not).

That system seem nicer than the dota system, where the elo is public and that is your rank so it is a little bit more precise. The LOL system seem better if you have a bad day or something. Good luck on your sales!

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is mining altcoins profitable with free electricity? on: March 27, 2015, 01:13:49 PM
If you have free electricity then you could mine with the computer that you are posting on and make profit not much but it would be better than nothing as you have no cost.

To find the cost of the product you also have to factor in how much they are spending on marketing those suckers by paying the NFL and music artists to say they are good.
19  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★ FastSlots ★ NEW CHAT ★ NEW SOUND FOR BONUS DICE ★ DESIGN REFRESH ★ on: March 27, 2015, 04:05:57 AM
Hi I just checkout the site, it looks pretty good and works well. The chat looks like it needs some work with the blank messages and the scroll bar at the bottom of it that serves no purpose. Once they are fixed you might have you self the gambling site with the best design out there. Keep up the good work!

Hi Cramved. I'm very happy to hear you like FastSlots. We will definitely have to fix these issues with the chat. We'll try to get some updates to the chat out in the next few days...

Sounds great can't wait to see the site when it is in perfect working order! I like the improvements to the chat they make it more of an optional feature rather than something that is forced on you like some other gambling websites
20  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: March 27, 2015, 03:51:05 AM

Witnessed, but I think it is better to sign a message from that bitcoin address (and remember to put also the date into the message).

Sorry noob question but how do you sign a message using a bitcoin address?

EDIT for spelling
