1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: May 29, 2013, 10:21:32 PM
If I have 2x 7970's should I be using two different miners on cgminer, or just one?

I use just one - easier to maintain

Okay, I'm using one now for both so I'll just leave it like it is. Thanks for the info! Smiley

3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2x 7970's, want to start mining, help? on: March 29, 2013, 07:51:51 PM
I'm using guiminer and I keep getting some error when starting a worker, it does the same on both 7970's.

On the bottom of the program interface where it gives you current information it's giving me an error: "pit.deepbit.net:8332 29/03/2013 14:51:56, "No JSON object could be decoded" / IO errors -1, tolerance 2.

What does this mean, and how can I fix it?

Edit: I get the same error when trying to mine with my 3770k, so I'm guessing it's a setting that's messed up somewhere...just not sure what.

Like the title says I have two 7970's and I want to start mining bitcoins. Whats the best mining software out there, and the best pool to work with? Help?

'I would start by giving just a bit more information'[/i]

I'm using my latest custom built computer with following specs:

Corsair Carbide 500R: 1200w PSU, Asus P8Z77-V - i7 3770K @ 4.6ghz(1.35v) w/ Corsair H100 - 16GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-19200
|:| Video: 2x Gigabyte GV-R797OC-3GD @ 1150
|:| Displays: 2x Dell Ultrasharp U3011 - LG 47LM7600
|:| Audio: Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty - Logitech Z906 - Audio-Technica ATH-M50 w/ FiiO E10
|:| HDD's: Crucial M4 512GB SSD - 3x 3TB Seagate Baracuda - 2x 3TB Seagate Baracuda External
|:| Peripherals: Logitech: MX518 - G19"

I've checked my pool information and login information and it's also all correct. I've also tried around 10-15 of the google results and none seem to be working.

Edit: And no, the cards aren't in crossfire.
6  Bitcoin / Mining support / "No JSON object could be decoded" error, help! on: February 07, 2013, 06:05:32 AM
I'm getting the error message in the title every time I try to start a miner in GUIMINER.

I can't figure out how to fix it and I've tried everything I can think of, google doesn't seem to be of much help either. Does anyone have any suggestions?
7  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / 7970 GUIMiner hash tags? on: April 16, 2012, 08:40:30 PM
Does anyone have any hash tags they use for mining that improve performance with this card?
8  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Miner working, but not showing on deepbit for some reason on: February 07, 2012, 06:51:30 AM
Repeat what I said in  another thread:

Are you using python OpenCL (poclbm) in guiminer? If so, this problem has been happening for everyone in the last few days. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1334.msg732164#msg732164

Basically it shows that you are mining but the shares are not being submitted.
Anyway, the fix is coming up in Windows so just switch to Phoenix in guiminer or get cgminer for the time being. If you need direction for switching to phoenix, which is what I'm doing now, just ask.

BTW, I've also heard that using the older guiminer version works but have not tried this.

Thanks for the quick response.

I've tried running phoenix but it just opens real quick then closes. So, I guess I'll need to help getting phoenix set up.

Edit: Its still showing no shares too, has this been common for everyone else as well?

Edit #2: I just installed an earlier version of GUIMiner and it's working now it looks like.
9  Bitcoin / Mining support / Miner working, but not showing on deepbit for some reason on: February 07, 2012, 06:26:13 AM
As the title says my GUIMiner is running, and I'm even logged into my deepbit account on there and everything. However when I go to deepbit it doesn't show my miner as running, it shows my worker as red also.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and the program is allowed in my firewall and it's still not showing up, help?

Edit: My shares are showing as 0 also.

New problem, I opened another thread but I'm going to update this too. Hopefully one of them will receive an answer.

My Guiminer keeps crashing upon start. When opening it the little hour glass will pop up and it will show as being open in the task bar but as soon as you go to the taskbar it will just dissapear. I've tried running it as administrator, uninstalling, re-installing, going into appdata and deleting those files
Help?

12  Bitcoin / Mining / My 2x 5870, or a 7970? Best mining software and settings? on: January 22, 2012, 02:21:00 PM
Nvm, delete please.
13  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Problem with GUIMiner, and my Bitcoin wallet. on: January 18, 2012, 01:55:06 AM

haha, ninjadddd. Always good to find the problem source quickly like that.

I'm just a dude with too much free time that understands how frustrating some of these issue can be. I've probably experienced most of them myself at some point.

cheers

I might have you beat on the free time, I literally sit around the house most days unless I'm in physical or cognitive therapies. I was in a high speed motorcycle accident around a year ago which landed me in a coma, and screwed my spinal cord up pretty well. I have to walk with a walker now at 25.

Yeah, some have been pretty frustrating. I'm really glad I made an account here to help me figure out some of these problems, and to try to learn more about it.

Do you by any chance know of a specific thread, or maybe off hand know the best settings in CCC, and GUIminer for 5870s? Currently I'm running both cards at 850mhz GPU clock and I'm having to run 90% fan speed to control the shutting down issue on that one card that kept dropping off every so often. In GUIMiner I'm running the flags "-v -w 128" with all GPU Affinity's checked as I saw those in a thread somewhere on the internet.

Also, I'm going to be upgrading my video cards within the next several months. What are generally considered some of the best performing cards for mining, 7970's?
14  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Problem with GUIMiner, and my Bitcoin wallet. on: January 18, 2012, 01:34:10 AM
I'm getting paid finally for both cards, so that's a plus. But now, one of my cards keeps going from an average of 370 Mhash/s to 260 Mhash/s ever 5-10 seconds or so. I've tried totally uninstalling all video drivers, and re-installing them and this hasn't fixed it. I'm running two 5870's, and they aren't cross fired if that makes a difference. Suggestions?

hmm, may be starving for resources from the computer..

Are you using Phoenix in Guiminer?
What are the options you are using for each card in Guiminer? copy and paste the whole line if you can.
What cpu is in your system?
If dual+ core do you have only the last core checked in guiminer?
how much ram does your system have?
what clocks are the vid cards at, gpu MHz/ram MHz?
what Catalyst version are your using?
Do you have the cata drivers installed as video driver only? i.e., without the CCC (Catalyst Control Center)
What windows version? xp, vista, win7? 64 bit?

If I think of more, I'll ask. But this should aim us in a better direction to troubleshoot.

Sorry for the ninja edit, thanks m8! You're on top of these threads aren't you? Haha, it's good there are people like you around here to help clueless nubs like me.

16  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Problem with GUIMiner, and my Bitcoin wallet. on: January 17, 2012, 12:50:28 AM
In between 370-400mhash/s per card, doubtful it could be the difficulty increase as I've always been paid around the same per day even with difficulty increases and everything.

I'm mining for deepbit too

sorry, did not see you added in the deepbit part.  You did make a new worker for the second vid card right?  On Deepbit you can only use one miner(gpu) per miner user/pass. If using the same one for both then it is likely only 1 is truely getting work.

Ah, I was not aware of that. No, I hadn't made a 2nd worker, but I've got it all set up now. Thanks m8!

I'm having another problem and I don't want to make another thread so I'm just bumping this one. I added another video card to my rig around a week ago and I'm still getting paid the same as I was before adding this secondary video card. I'm using the same email, password, and flags as my other account but my pay should be double and it's not. Anyone have any idea's what could be going on here? Thanks.

You were correct, all the information was in there. Thank you for your time m8! I appreciate it.
