When I run the server on localhost and connect to it from localhost it works. However when I add in the proper ip and run it from an external server it gives a connection refused.
Bitcoin.conf contents:
server=1
rpcuser=root
rpcpassword=examplepassword
rpcconnect=123.123.123.123
rpcport=8332
rpcalowip=123.123.123.123 (the ip of the external server).
So what am I doing wrong?

The site is currently under maintenance. Sorry. The site will be up by tomorrow's riddle challenge.
- Silicon Valley (BTCPlay.Me) Your website has said that it is going to be up by "tomorrow" for almost 10 days now. I really hope it gets done soon. I'm afraid you are going to lose the little traction you have gotten already. Yep. changing message. I actually believe i'll be done today. I was on vacation for a while too. Decided to go to Orlando. Update: I basically re-coded the backend. There was a problem with PHP not recognizing payment and a couple other problems. For now i'm not changing the design. Site is back up. |

That's great you're redesigning the site! I hope that plus any marketing/advertising endeavors bring many users to your site. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this thread for the relaunch announcement. In the meantime, could you refund my outstanding entry? I'll be sure to play again once it's up and running, but I'd appreciate you giving my un-used entry back if you get the chance Don't worry. Your entry will be credited once the site is back-up. Its still in the system. Okay, but if I don't see the relaunch announcement and miss the riddle that evening, my entry will have been unfairly lost  So I'm just trying to avoid that from happening. I'll notify you when theres a new contest. That way I'll make sure our ready Any update on this? You continue to hold my bitcoin for an entry I was never able to use. While it's a small amount, and while I certainly don't mind if I lose it, it's still something that might be looked upon as a bit scammy by other users. Yeah this is actually a pretty good site and I am surprised that its not getting more attention. Like the previous people said a signature campaign would help boost views but it can be expensive and take months profit you get recurring visitors.
Added a thread design. Site is being re-constructed. Really need people to show their support for this :/ |

I don't have the money for ad campaigns. I'm already giving away money for the riddle contests and that doesn't help.
That's why I mentioned mellowads since they have a daily faucet you can put towards network campaigns. Might be something that's worth starting to build up a balance there for you to use, either on this site or any future ideas you might have Created an ad for mellowads. Hopefully it works out. |

Also there is a new riddle up now! The problem is. Not enough people are interested in this. Every day the site loses more and more views. Have you thought about trying some ad campaigns on mellowads? Or maybe have a ref bonus or some other incentive for players to invite friends and continue playing? (btw, I just see a "test" string on the site now... if I'm the only player registered right now, feel free to just return my entry if you won't be posting anymore riddles) I'll be deciding what to do. Hi, yesterday you sent me a free credit for today's riddle. I entered my email, redeemed, and it told me I was all set for today. But it's now telling me I need to pay again. Is something wrong? *EDIT* Nevermind, I figured it out Someone just beat the riddle. Congratulations to them! |

Funny concept but I think you need to work on your site, and maybe get a free mode of the game, for users to test it out.
Also there are no examples on the ridles we will find etc. Maybe having a section with solved riddles, along with the free mode would help.
Finally how do you guarantee that the game is fair?
Click on the winners list. there is a demo that is the free version. Yesterday a user from here already won. There is no 100% way to guarantee it because its lottery but why not try it for 50 cents? Its not like your investing 10,20, or even 50$. |

However, the game is not truly fair. I know this is not a lottery like my site and hence it cannot use a method to select a fair winner. From what I know, the winner is the one that give the correct answer (similar by 90% to what you set) within the shortest prior of time. The loophole (to the participators) here is that there is no way to determine who give the correct answer first. It is fair. There is a way of knowing who is first. How is there not a way? Simply. The first person to solve the riddle and enter their BTC address is the winner. And I am able to determine that. Does it require deposit before we can participate to solve the riddle? I love riddles but paying for this challenge is stopping me trying it. I can get lots of free riddles now a days.
You win BTC for solving riddles. Therefore there is a 0.50$ deposit fee but that just goes towards the pot. I love riddles, especially if there is a BTC prize attached!
What if instead of doing it the way you are now, you created riddles where the answer was actually a brainwallet? That way you wouldn't have to worry about who answered it first, or if they answered it with 85% correctness. They would have to answer it exactly right, and whoever swept the private key first would get it.
I'll think about that idea but for now I'll most likely do this for now. Its a good way to determine who won and I know exactly who won first. |

The answer was A coffin. if your answer was "A coffin" it would have accepted it. Your answer simply has to be at least 85% similar. Yeah, I don't understand what happened either, but it's a little frustrating not to win. The 3rd time I tried it told me that the puzzle had already been answered, so I know my answers were going through. Can you check the game logs and see if something messed up or if I did something wrong? And I appreciate the credit, I'll use it tomorrow and give this one more try. Great. I p'med you a redeem link. Like I said theres a similarity test. 85% similar at least in order to be accepted. Yours was more than 85 so you were accepted. I don't know what happened with EngiNerd. The system works fine for me. Worked fine for ranlo + the other guy apparently. I'll be checking logs in order to see what happened. |

That's a little frustrating...I was the first one to answer and didn't get the prize :-/ It just told me "Sorry, wrong answer".
If it said sorry wrong answer that means you put the wrong answer haha. What answer did you pick? |
