1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussionjavascri on: June 25, 2019, 08:16:16 AM
I have always worked for myself and still have a small company.

One of the guys has worked for me for nearly 20 years, but he has always opted out of the pension scheme 'waste of money - everyone in my family died before they reached pension age' he said.

He rents an apartment, and what worries me is that when he retires (he's in his mid 40's), he just won't be able to afford to keep paying rent on a state pension.  He told me - 'I am saving, but I can't see how I will ever save up enough - prices keep going up, but my savings are climbing too slowly'.

Last year was a struggle - but we had a big contract in late in the year.  I said "If you can help me get this delivered before the end of the year, I will give you a bonus in January."

He did it.  I then said, I want to give the bonus to you in Bitcoin, but you have to hold it for at least a year.  If it has not gone up in that time, I will simply give you the cash instead - if it does - you just might be able to actually afford that deposit on a place of your own.

The bonus was around $6000 (in my currency) and the company bought him the BTC in Jan.

At this rate - he is well on his way to what will be a very positive change in his circumstances.

This will be huge in terms of his outlook; THIS is the transformative power of Bitcoin.

I am so happy I was able to do this. Thank you, Bitcoin.

Wow that's great stuff man, good on you!

Dear WO gentlemen,

I'd like to introduce myself. I'm a long-time lurker. I've been reading this thread on and off since 2012. I do have an account from that year, but I lost access to it after the bitcointalk database breach. I don't care though. I was a nobody here then, just as I'm a nobody here now. I probably didn't have more than 10 post anyway. Like I said, I'm more of a lurker.

I'd just like to chime in and say thank you to all you WO participants. I really enjoy reading this thread. Reading about the rare TA, getting a rough feeling of the market sentiment, or just reading about the everyday WO drama.

What about me? Got my eyes open for bitcoin in 2011, but I thought I was too late in the game, so I never bought any at that time. I eventually pulled the trigger the following year and bought my first and only bitcoins at around $10. Even though I've lost or sold 90% of my initial holdings, I'm really fortunate. Bitcoin has defined my life. I'm in my late 30s and I am retired since a couple of years back, living my dream. All thanks to bitcoin.

Once again, thanks. I really I enjoy 'lurking around here'. Keep it up, cheers gentlemen.

Good on you mate! Living the dream! Hope to be there one day myself

Anybody starting to feel a bit sick/anxious about this rapid rise?
I don’t feel ready, should I Huh?

I don’t want to sell a significant % until over $50,000. I planned this perfectly to come in 2021/22.

WTF is going on?

Yep I'm feeling a bit uneasy too! But at the same time, fuck it's nice!

Guys, I can confirm that you can use Coinomi to claim your BTG.

As for BCH, I used TREZOR's own claiming engine. I believe TREZOR can do BTG too.

Whatever you do, be EXTRA careful. You're messing with the private keys that hold your BTC stash! Make sure you know what you are doing!

Correct, Trezor can do BCH and BTG. That's what I used. For BSV I used ElectrumSV (only days before it jumped to $250ish but hey, big deal) These are the only fork coins I've grabbed, anything else worth the trouble?

I bought a BlackArrow X1 miner for some silly amount of BTC. At least I got it (eventually) but man what a waste. Lost 2 BTC on Gox as well but hey, those early lessons served me well.

1) No pre-orders

and

2) Not your keys, not your coin

Ooof! That's gotta hurt! I sold a third of my Monero stash last bullrun which did me well. Only crypto I've ever sold but it got to the stage that that amount could change my life (not retire; but get rid of debt) and honestly was the best thing I ever did. Came at a time when me and my business partner split in a particularly messy circumstance so it provided some financial security I hadn't had in a long time.

Whatever happens over the next few days/weeks, hope everyone out there keeps their heads and doesn't get too caught up in it all. It's money at the end of the day; if the amount has become too big for you to lose perhaps it's time to sell some off

Best of luck!

Glad to hear you did well on it, I've been reacquiring since then and even bought at .03 Doh. Smiley

But bottom line is BTC has been a Godsend for all of us here! Cheesy

True that!
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 22, 2019, 03:16:32 AM

for being in 'mostly' full HODL mode. (Damn, that 10 BTC I sold at $3,965 in the depths of despair are kinda hurting right now) Sad

Man, I seriously just thought of you when we hit 10k, that's fucked up.

It was 13 BTC. I cracked like a 'nut' when it hit $3,965 and had a fit like a 9-year-old child (including screaming and tantrums) when I pulled the trigger.

I managed to recoup 3 BTC to make it only 10 Btc, rather than 13 BTC. Then of course at one time I had 12,965 Litecoin (now $143.03 I will not do the math I will

start to cry). I sold 'most' of it when mining to BTC along the way from 2013. 12,000 of the above more or less was below $2 prices. Sad

The catch is, you do this stuff long enough you KEEP SOMETHING and it all did not get piddled away or into dubious ASIC miners and/or just wrong timing (above)

WTF it is only money, right? I still have plenty of crypto should it all go 'Tulips' as folk still claim. Still, since 2013 this has and still is a hell of a lot of fun. Smiley

Still having a good time with this pump even if it is going up too fast. But hell, I can take any 'correction' down to 10k. (sh*t I just said a correction down to 10k wow) Smiley

Brad

Yeah man, I'm still pretty sore from having to sell ALLmy Monero right before alphabay after a 2 year hold!

One thing is for sure. Nobody expected this at this moment. We (all) know fucking nothing. Just HODL.
Exactly. I HODLd through 2018 and I don't regret it, I  always felt like at any moment this whole market could flip, and I would HATE to be someone who sold at $3000 because they thought it was going a little lower and they could get more. This market could have flipped last November at $6000, you just never know, thats markets for you.

Aaaannd that's why trading is not for me

So yeah. Selling a bit and going on a year long vacation, starting with a choo-choo down through europe. Time to get serious about the laid back rich person life.

Good luck mate! I'm still a bit of a way off those thoughts but I'm getting there
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 22, 2019, 01:45:40 AM
Hey I'm certainly not complaining but I just don't want a massive drop after this. As fun as rockets are, slow growth is nice
Fun to watch all the same.

Agreed!

Anyone else feel this is getting a bit silly now?

Close your eyes, raise your ankles over your head and YIELD, little one.

Daddy's taking what's rightfully his.

Pro-tip: If you use BTC to conveniently buy stuff, replace it fairly soon. Because, pizza.

Good luck today lads; I have a feeling today is the day

Well I didn't think it would happen that fast  Cheesy

That's the best way, I've always gone down that route. I love using BTC but I loathe spending it haha so I always spend and replace.

Good luck today lads; I have a feeling today is the day

This is great, but I'm thinking someday you'll get back your real account, so I don't want to potentially waste a merit. You can have +2 WO Merits though.

CSW looking more and more like a Bond villain with each passing day.

Thanks, I’m hoping so too, talking with the team currently. I’ve got plenty of evidence just not the exact thing they want.

Good luck! I applied to have my account given back to me, seems I need to wait 7 days and then I can do a password reset. Looking forward to getting it back! Thabks to those here for pointing out how to go about it
