Much faster shipping than other unnamed competitors.
I hope you stick around for a long while because I will be doing business with you from now on.

[...] and in their eyes it will cost them more to implement a bitcoin payment system and to print the little box with a bitcoin option for every one of those flyers. Its easier to accept usd and that is the way it will stay for a long time to come. [...]
No, you're wrong. :-D. You are making an assumption on the cost of implementing a bitcoin payment system vs. the amount of additional donations that it would bring in. And when you assume you make an "ass" out of "u" and "me." It costs virtually nothing to implement a bitcoin payment system. BitPay even doesn't charge 501c(3) nonprofits. And there is the potential for increased donations. Check out the list of projects/charities that accept bitcoins on the bitcoin wiki. Do you think that many charities would have accepted donations if the risk/benefit ratio was clearly not in favor of adoption? Sure it might cost $0.0001 more per mailout to print a QR code. This is completely irrelevant as they print out full-page color glossy photos, entire calendars, sheets of promo address labels, all kinds of fancy shit to woo their potential donors. Ink for a QR code would be a tiny fraction of a percent of the total average cost of a mailer. It might take their IT guy a few hours to put a bitpay option in the donation page and set up an account with bitpay. Companies tend to make risk/benefit analyses and yes, it is all about the numbers. I am looking at actual examples of other companies that have done this, and it is clear to me (based on their own analyses and action) that the benefits of accepting bitcoins (in many cases) outweigh the potential risks. But you are making an assumption (based on data you appear to have pulled out of your butt) about the "cost of implementing bitcoin" - what costs? And an implied belief that no one will actually donate bitcoins (contrary to the dozens/hundreds of organizations that currently accept bitcoin donations according to the wiki). Personally, I've donated Bitcoins to at least 4 or 5 charities and I try to donate a little bit every time I find a worthwhile charity that accepts them. sorry but "u" are wrong .. not an assumption as it was stated before its a numbers game to a lot of these folks and the trouble they would have to go through for some "magic nerd money" isn't worth it for them at the moment.. perhaps in the future if/when bitcoin becomes more popular and is out of beta. But its people like you we need to get it mainstream and popular.. rock on!

More optimistically of course, in a major situation such as the aforementioned, things would eventually recover - as would the value of my bitcoins.
until something better comes along. What are you selling? dildos

We are constantly fed the bill of goods at this forum how advantageous it is for merchants to sell for btc, because it's "virtually free" to pay with it, compared to any other form of payment, because it's like "totally decentralized", non-Fed or bank, digital freedom "cash", man! Right now, it seems even more advantageous to the merchant because the btc is gaining value so quickly against the "worthless fiat" we all hate so much here. With all that in mind, explain to me please why your prices are still higher if I pay you in btc, than if I send my "worthless fiat" via check or money order to APMEX to buy the same thing? Have you ever actually bought anything from APMEX? There is a minimum and they charge a FORTUNE for shipping. What exactly do you feel Amagi has priced highly? apmex isn't too bad I order all the time from them. Min purchase is $50 and shipping is around $12 for insured and tracking. Typical for most metal dealers.

Right but as long as godzilla only attacks Japan, I'll still have my bitcoins...
Unless they're at MtGox! see I didn't even catch that.. godzillas pinky toe crushes mtgox servers and all is lost.. price will go all wonky people will panic sell.. who knows what the price will be. You may not even have enough coin to trade someone in your area for some gold so you can buy the dildo I have for sale.

I think we'll have bigger things to worry about than finance if there's some sort of solar flare/worldwide blackout situation. I mean seriously, all of the whole entire internetz wiped out? Sure, gold would probably fall back into place as the standard accepted store of value, but within the avergage human lifetime I think you'd be better off investing in guns and rations.
doesn't have to be worldwide end of civilization type of scenario.. anything can take out power/internet in a large area for days/weeks/months.. severe storms, earthquakes, godzilla, giant tomatoes, huge rabbits.
