4  Local / Pazar Alanı / Re: Trust Sistemi Nedir? Nasıl Çalışır? on: November 18, 2017, 11:40:05 AM

Has anyone successfully used the (undocumented) websockets api for, well, anything?
Would really appreciate some pointers from anyone who uses it.

(I posted a thread here about it last week, but I guess this thread is more likely to get noticed)
A documented websockets api would be wonderful!  Even if the documentation is minimal, at least that would give a basis for experimentation.

Yes, we don't support a websockets API currently, although we use websockets on parts of the website. We will, however, offer a fully supported (which would include documentation) websockets (and FIX) API once the alphapoint integration is done.

This upgrade is really the key to a ton of new products and features, as well as the benefit of better performance.

Hey guys, brief update, we have made a bunch of progress on integrating Alphapoint, and are on the last legs of testing. We are still getting a couple errors, which are being fixed, but it is very close!

In general, we are able to correctly handle all but a couple hundred (in total, not by type) of the total user actions in a given day, so this is probably around .1% of the total actions that users would do, but it is those edge cases which typically take the longest to identify and fix. Should have more news for you soon, and once this is done, we can start to really roll out new features, as well as be able to handle much more volume, much more quickly.

There is really not a lot of other news to report, things have been quiet but I am personally excited that it seems the prices are starting to go up. I wanted to thank all of you guys who help out those who have questions about how parts of Bitfinex work, we are working on an updated FAQ/knowledge base which would serve as a one stop shop for answers. Right now, a lot of the questions are answered on our site, but I understand it might not be easy to find. So that is something else that is in the works.

Other than that, I hope everyone has been well. I am going to get back to working on Alphapoint stuff, but I try to check in once a day and see if there is anything major going on.

Keep getting invalid bitcoin address when trying to withdraw.

Can anyone look into it?

Thank you

check for spaces?

That is probably the problem. Look for trailing whitespace in the address, but if that is not the problem, try looking the address up on blockchain.info or one of the other blockexplorers. If you don't have any problem there, open a support ticket. Bitcoin addresses have a built in checksum so any typos can usually be caught, and this gives a little safety when sending non-reversible transactions.

Good stuff, I will try to give some information.

Thanks to all who helped out people with questions. Remember you can also look at this link:
https://www.bitfinex.com/pages/support

or this link:
https://www.bitfinex.com/pages/howitworks

where pretty much all of those questions have been answered.

In regards to the margin questions, here is what those sources would say:

"You will receive a margin call when the net value of your account reaches the required margin. When the net value falls below the required margin the position will be forced liquidated. The drop after which you can be liquidated depends on your leverage. When you have a margin position, you will see an estimated liquidation price (the price at which you would be liquidated)."

I appreciate those who explained this perhaps more clearly.

As far as lag, we are very aware of this. We put in place some optimizations to try and reduce the lag on the current system, and we are working very hard to get the new system up and running. It is pretty close, and we are basically just testing it very thoroughly to ensure that there are no unexpected problems when we go live. Ideally, we should be able to transition with no noticeable differences to the user, besides hopefully a much faster execution time. Of course, this is a really big change, and better safe than sorry. We worked really hard to get where we are, and we are still growing so rapidly, but we don't want to jeopardize any of our customers, so we are taking a very cautious approach. We are hoping and expecting to be ready the end of February, but you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men...

To those who are spamming negative comments, I appreciated HowardF's response about greener pastures. We are doing our best to provide a good fair exchange where people can access very deep pools of liquidity, and some cool features and tools. Obviously, we can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time, and we are sorry for that. We greatly appreciate those who have given us volume of 2,136,517.89 bitcoins over the last 30 days. We are setting new records on volume all the time now, and rushing to keep up. 2015 will be a big year for us, and once we have our new trading engine in place, expect to see a lot of cool new features and ways to access our market.

So, hopefully that addresses some of what was posted recently. Of course, I look forward to reading your comments.

..so creating 100 identical 1 BTC OCO orders is the way to go?
Both "cancel only when the full sum is reached" and "cancel when the order is partially filled" is worse than that. Best would be a checkbox "partially", "full" and "corresponding sum" I'd say.

Ente

Yeah, I have no idea why I would want to set up an order that would dump 100 coins at all once...I don't think this would really help my bottom line, as I would probably push prices down much lower than if i I manually managed that position.

As I said in another post, there is a point where you are managing a position of a large enough size, and your requirements are complex enough that it makes sense to actually build a bot using the API (or hire someone to build a bot), that can be tailored to your exact needs.

You DO owe me an apology.
Bitfinex representatives claim that isers have NO RIGHT to timely and accurate data. I'm okay with that fraud.
What I'm not okay with is you telling me to *fuck off* when I place an order. Why?
I cancel all the orders and try to do a market order and get "not enough balance" message?!
Okay, I reload the page and voila! Uncancelled orders remain!
So I cancel those as well, but you know what. Time has passed, market has moved. By the time I am able to make a move, you have cost me 10%.

Tell me again: why do I make volume on your site?

Technically, if you are that unhappy, and have such a negative opinion of us, YOU should explain why you make volume on our site.

Edit: Not because we don't want you to continue using us, but because I have no way of explaining your cost benefit analysis, and no knowledge of why you continue to make that choice.

Things like stop losses and OCO are helpful, and can be useful, but they won't replace a full API bot...there is only so much logic that it pays to put into an order type, so, you might be approaching the limit of those order types usefulness, and might want to look into some sort of automated trading strategy if your needs are growing more complex. I understand your scenario, and it might be worthwhile to look into this, but that is really more like "cancel this other order, and place another order for a dynamic amount of bitcoin", because we don't really support updating an order at the moment (I think that might change soon).

So, I would say that there is no substitute for actually just monitoring the positions yourself, but, it can be a  worthwhile tradeoff to sacrifice some those benefits for the convenience of not having to be there. One thing you could try would be to split up a big order like that into a bunch of smaller orders, where if they are linked correctly, you only have a small worry about partial fills.

Hey people!
I didn't read through the last 100 or so pages, but plan to stay updated from now on again :-)

- Since ages, the two balance overviews are mismatched: the overview in the top right corner is fine, the overview in "manage wallets" is wrong.

- I just found out that the "transfer funds" window is borked: it uses the "european" style separators, and interprets "1,000.00" as "1" and "1.000,00" as "1000". Every single place on BitFinex does display and interpret it the "US" style.

Those two combined took me a good while to figure out why the heck I can't transfer the sums I plan to.
Please fix this.

Ente

This has never happened to me...we will look into it.

Why does OCO get's cancelled when the order is only partialy filled? IS that how it should work?

yes, anytime one order is "activated" it cancels the other orders. One cancels Others. So, it is a nice way to make sure you don't double down on buying or selling, if you want to have a stop loss AND a "take profit".
