Let's think about killer application that target mass markets outside of crypto. What could those be? Ideas? Smiley

I think Komodo has enough on its plate already. Finish your existing projects first and THEN look for new opportunities. Komodo will be in a pretty good position when it is working as promised.

I've sold very little of my initial investments and don't plan to sell anymore until prices are significantly higher.  I guess you can say I'm one of those few hopeful (or maybe hopeless) holders.

That makes two of us. I don't normally hesitate to dump coins that don't go up, but KMD / BTCD is the exception. It has lots of potential and I would feel stupid to dump it.

That's a very well written article, I wish more people would know about it! The article doesn't mention tradebots, does this mean they won't be ready in 2017?

And a question about the KV storage: what are the maximum sizes of the key and the value?

You win, mentaltrainwreck. We're all stupid and you're the only one in the whole world who has it all figured out. Bye.

... to have a stable value a money need to be able to contract and expand ...

True, but Bitcoin wasn't designed to have a stable value. It was designed to be deflationary and you won't be able to change that. Go and start your own coin, but don't be surprised if nobody uses it.

Hello everyone,

Im running Sia-UI-v1.1.0-linux-x64 and I need to backup the blockchain to use on another PC. Where does Sia stores the blockchain, and the wallet by the way, thanks!

I think you should simply copy the whole install directory.

Got some AMP on exchanges, is there any way to withdraw it to some kind of wallet or someting? Sry for being uninformed, i tried to search, but came up with nothing.

Is there a wallet to store the coins? Keeping them at exchanges sucks.

Yes. Omni Core is what you want.

I think Sasha is still looking for a suitable jurisdiction? The Isle of Man has established a new crowdfunding regime:

Quote
The new Crowdfunding Regime is a truly international initiative that is set to give a home to crowdfunding platforms looking to expand into a global marketplace. The new legislation has been designed to bring more business to the Isle of Man and further establish us as a home for innovation and entrepreneurialism.

The Isle of Man is the first international business centre to introduce this type of legislation and we believe it will support the creation and growth of new businesses on the Isle of Man.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ATOMIC: in SuperNET CORE - single blockchain for trading all coins&assets on: May 05, 2016, 07:18:12 AM
Some clarity would be welcomed.

This project is dead and the atomic cross-chain transactions that jl777 is talking about will be his own implementation. That's how I understand it.

Yikes, It worked ! Thank you so much!  Smiley Smiley

Still i am left to wonder how the address could disappear. I guess its a bitcoin problem, but do you have any theories for that ? Trying to learn from this.
Thanks again!

It happened to me as well but I don't know why. It might be a Bitcoin bug.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AMP - The Currency That Powers Your Attention On Synereo on: April 19, 2016, 03:01:04 PM

today i (finally) decided to check if my amps are really there, but i cannot see them here? am i missing something?
i bought in the crowdsale with this adress:
1JehK1ucd8A5z3iuVBjWV7dU6GTmGgGTWN
transaction id:
b6666031353dcecfe64a12f77b9c494a6b5fa67d517ad725853289b24a7f6e7e-000

can you guys help me out ?

Apparently my message was missed, i had no reply yet, so re-posting it.

Omniwallet is saying that BTC address 1JehK1ucd8A5z3iuVBjWV7dU6GTmGgGTWN holds no AMPs.  You must be providing the incorrect address, because there are no omni txs to or from this BTC address.  If you still have the wallet from which you sent the BTC, you will still have your amps.  Get a list of all the BTC address you have in your wallet and search for each one on omniwallet.org.  One of these addresses should hold your AMPs.

Thanx for replying
The good news is, i found the amps. The bad news is, i cannot reach them. Its a bit of a mystery Sad

i can see here, that the input transaction to synereo was taken from 3 addresses that i allegedly control:
https://blockchain.info/tx/b6666031353dcecfe64a12f77b9c494a6b5fa67d517ad725853289b24a7f6e7e
The top 2 input addresses, i can see them in my (bitcoin qt core) wallet. but the 3rd input address (1BxV3WEvHZhVKKwMrje6P9i3AchoDjpW1H), i cannot find in my wallet. I even tried two backup copies of wallet.dat ( one before and one after the transaction date).
And by murphies law  the return amps were send to that address, as can be seen here:
http://omnichest.info/lookupadd.aspx?address=1BxV3WEvHZhVKKwMrje6P9i3AchoDjpW1H

How is it possible that this was send to an address that i cannot see, but still apparently have (since the bulk of my investment seems to have come from there, the other 2 input addresses added some dust to it as far as i can see)
Is it possible that this address magically re-appears once i use the full omniwallet or when amp wallet is finished (because of determinsitic seed in bitcoin) ?

Try this: go to Help --> Debug window --> Console --> and paste "dumpprivkey 1BxV3WEvHZhVKKwMrje6P9i3AchoDjpW1H"

If this gives you your private key then you can import it into Omniwallet or Omni Core and access your amps: http://www.omnilayer.org/

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Wired discovered the real Satoshi Nakamoto? (.. this time) on: December 09, 2015, 01:29:08 PM
This is fake and it seems it was a bait to lure press to Wright claim. This Wright has nothing to do with creation of bitcoin. Satoshi Nakamoto will never create a bitcoin bank. LOL guys BITCOIN BANK??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Exactly. Wright wants to be famous but he's not Satoshi Nakamoto.

is this the reason why my supernet lite client is not working properly at the moment? i have not access to my assets and transactions :/

Probably. If you update to the latest version it should work again.

Define 'abandon' in this context please.

To remove all dependency on NXT.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Teleport/Ramchains/SuperNET Core/Dividends/Gen 1.5 on: November 10, 2015, 06:02:11 PM

nope - jl777 is not threatening to 'abandon' NXT, and he never has.
what he is doing is implementing some NXT functionality that SuperNET uses into SuperNET/BTCD.

it is a long story and much hyperbole, so please don't jump to hysterical conclusions.

What happens is that SuperNET/BTCD tech gets more streamlined.

I do tend to choose my words carefully and I think the bolded part qualifies as "threatening to abandon NXT":

Quote
There was no discussion with the SuperNET team about the 1.6.2 breaking all the installed base. The only "discussion" happened after I complained about it not being backward compatible. And this "discussion" was basically a confirmation that the promise of backward compatibility that was made last year is not being honored.

There have been many customer support issues due to the breaking of the API and a lot of unreported cases where the customers just stop using SuperNET (and NXT)

I have been assured that with each NXT release that there will likely NOT be any backward compatibility of the API, which means anything that uses it will likely break and need unknown amounts of testing, requalification and of course customer support and field update issues.

It is not possible to deploy a large scale system using a "platform" that isnt backward compatible due to the breaking of all the ALREADY installed and running systems. With decentralized systems it is not possible for centrally force an update on users. Just look at some of the versions NXT peers are still running. Therefore anything that is guaranteed to break is certainly not worth spending marketing dollars to acquire the installed base for.

The NXT devs lack a fundamental understanding about business reality and I am extremely disappointed in the breaking of the promise to keep things backward compatible. The ONLY exception is if there is an attack vector. Local node performance is not any excuse.

Due to this, I am rethinking my reliance on NXT for SuperNET. I have quite a lot of code that takes all my time to create and to be assured that I will have to keep reworking it forever due to backward compatibility breaking with each release. This is not practical for me.

So, NXT will have a more efficient API with much fewer users. That is the effect of this breaking of the backward compatibility promise.

Anyway, the first effect of all this is that ALL of my projects will be delayed. I will wait for NXT API to stabilize before I waste my time. The most likely scenario is that I will just remove all dependency on NXT and put whatever functions I need into BTCD.

James

tl:dr it is a MAJOR breach of trust as far as I am concerned that the API backward compatibility promise has been violated and I cannot rely on NXT for any important SuperNET functions.

Pro tip for jl777: port your project(s) to ETH.  ETH is a general purpose distributed computer that makes obsolete scripted environments such as NXT look like "pocket calculators" (quoting Nick Szabo).

As far as I know (and I don't follow ETH actively), ETH isn't stable either. It might be an even bigger can of worms than NXT. Last thing I heard is that they're running out of money Roll Eyes
