You never know what your getting yourself into using third party organizations to manage your money. Aside from them claiming that the credit was processed and not actually having processed it they can also at any time liquidate and take your assets. I generally take a hit on processing fees and manage my transactions in smaller denominations but at least I know where my money is. Take a look at why banks in Second Life were banned.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello! New to Bitcoin, what are some easy ways to earn Bitcoin? on: February 07, 2012, 12:00:39 AM
You can make money with the above listed sites and theres always freedigitalmoney.com but if you consider the time spent to make .001 btc imo it's really not worth it. I agree that goods & services are a better method to get paid for your time. You can also try trading through different currency markets like Virwox but that's more for making money at a later time through market value apposed to obtaining a profit right now.

There are proxy hosts out there and if your just web browsing you can use like tor browser. When cloning an os in VirtualBox it gives you the option to reinitialize your mac address and you can always change the mac address of your router usually via 192.168.2.1 which will also generally change dynamic ip. I had an issue with Xfinity in one case where my supposed dynamic ip acted static when I just changed my hardware config via ipconfig but manually changing the mac address of my router fooled the system in a way that I was given a new ip.

You can also use VirtualBox to run an instance of any OS you want inside of pretty much any OS you want and change your traceable info from inside that virtual instance... I prefer a linux based OS or Windows XP to clone with since they are really light OS. Don't forget to change your ip address for complete anonymity. ^^
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there really no quick way to buy BTC with a credit card? on: February 05, 2012, 12:51:00 AM
There is a way to buy Bitcoins with your credit card or even paypal quickly and securely 24-48 hours. You need a Second Life account to purchase Linden dollars and then you can trade them for Bitcoins via https://www.virwox.com/. The linden dollar purchases are usually instant and transactions through virwox can be instantaneous or can take up to 48 hours to process new accounts.

I've been a content creator on Second Life since around 2006. In 2006 I could sell my linden dollar for around 10 USD per 1500L. Todays market yields around 5-6 USD per 1500L. I decided to add Bitcoins to my investment pool to see if I could turn a profit on the low market.

Interesting, I'm not much of a gambler but I did notice some Bitcoin based casinos on youtube. I had a few ideas of my own using the Unity game engine and Bitcoins via php but without the gambling cliche. I know from experience that virtual casino's and lotteries don't usually last long before some kind of legality comes into play. The best method is to create your own intellectual property, give it a defined value and sell it for Bitcoins. Free to play mmorpg games with cash shop items for example.

I agree with the majority of the rest of the posters. The value of a bitcoin has tanked for a while and is slowly rising back up so right now is a great time to buy/trade other currency for them but you should sit on the ones you have imo.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hashing speed for solo mining? on: February 05, 2012, 12:20:10 AM
I find it easier to just play the currency markets or offer goods/services for Bitcoins personally. Solo mining rarely yields anything unless you have some major hardware and pool mining yields a minute % of a bitcoin in a day while cranking your resource usage to 100% for long periods of time.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin USD value 6 months from now? on: February 05, 2012, 12:12:39 AM
I've noticed a slight increase in the Bitcoin market lately. It fluctuates a little with other virtual currency trade. It's proportional to the number of active users in the Bitcoin community. From what I've read the farming rate will be dropping 1/2 from 50 to 25 bitcoins in 2012 so I estimate another large jump. You really can't tell what will happen with virtual currency markets, I just make small investments in multiple markets keeping my eggs in different baskets.

I agree that governments should in deed farm bitoins if they aren't already. The more that is farmed and sat on the closer to the cap we get and the more my bitcoin increases in value. Thanks for the feedback!

Another interesting tidbit on how to mod your ps3 to run linux for those interested in researching the usage of the ps3 gpu for bitcoin mining. This was written in 2008 and the os option has been removed from ps3 but in certain circles it's still possible to mod:http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/how-to/build-pc/4263321

51 views in less than 5 minutes no criticism or thoughts? I thought the use of low voltage gpu output was genius personally...

I'm new to this site and limited to noob posts so I figured I would post here....

A little background on me first: I'm a freelance computer animator and game dev, I've been pioneering the mmorpg mob industry and other game assets of second life since 2004 and I'm now working with the Unity engine developing pc/mac/web based games.

Relevance for my post: A theory as to why the United States government will not be banning the use of bitcoins any time soon:

http://www.1up.com/news/air-force-building-supercomputer-2000 .

I found this while researching the xbox kinect for mocap use and I was unclear at first as to why they would need the gpu usage outside of combat emulation but it may have been needed to farm virtual currency.... Just a thought, criticism is welcome.
