1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Taking questions for Stephen Macaskill! (Amagi Metals CEO) on: December 05, 2014, 05:17:50 PM
One here - what's wrong with their website right now? Wink

Going to have to promote this question.

I'll ask him about it before we start recording and if it's a serious problem (i.e. they got raided by the FBI or something haha), we'll definitely cover it on the show.

Their domain whois information changed in the past day or two, might be changing providers (and had an issue), but that's just a guess. Having just placed my first order with them, I'm obviously a little nervous now though as a result.
2  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Best Prices of Gold, Silver, & Platinum for Bitcoins on: December 05, 2014, 03:37:37 PM
Is Amagimetals down for anyone else? I placed my first order a few days ago, and now the site seems to have been down for around the last day or so.

Fyi - Just flushed my DNS cache and they seem to be back online.

I'd like to know too. I was ok with slipping to B6, though if it's slipped again I will likely just cancel.

Early batch 4 order just received via DHL, both are up and running on the latest firmware and so far appear good.  Grin

11  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S3 not mining (Remains on standby) - Urgent on: July 25, 2014, 02:44:32 AM
Hello miners,

I recently bought Antminer S3 and after all required setting configuaration the miner remains in standby mode (Red light off and green light blinking per second).
Here is all required information:

--my ipconfig is: --

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:

   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : westell.com
   Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::fd99:662:caa3:612%12
   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.193
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
   Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::2557:f20c:960f:e444%11
   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.250
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
-----------------------

My router ip is 192.168.0.1

--ANTMINER S3 Miner's WAN Configuaration--

Protocol - Static
IPv4 address - 192.168.1.99
IPv4 netmask - 255.255.255.0
IPv4 gateway -  192.168.0.1
IPv4 broadcast - 192.168.1.255
Use custom DNS servers - 192.168.0.1
----------------------------------------------------

Also when I insert the ethernet cord from Antminer S3 into computer's ethernet port, will it start mining if the configuration is correct? Or I have to remove the ethernet cord from computer and insert it into router?

Please help!
Thanks in advance.

Protocol - Static
IPv4 address - 192.168.1.99
IPv4 netmask - 255.255.255.0
IPv4 gateway -  192.168.0.1

This is not correct, the gateway cannot be on a different subnet.
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Input needed on power on: July 24, 2014, 07:59:53 PM
Yes.  I am in the US.

It looks like they have each room wired to a 20amp breaker.   (3 "receptacles" per room Smiley )
I have 2x 750w power supplies powering my equipment that's currently running.

I have an identical setup that I'll be adding tomorrow.

There is room in the breaker box for expansion... (spaces between current breakers)
Would 240 mean getting separate service run?  Or, can they run 240 from an existing panel?
(I know nothing about electrical - please excuse my ignorance)

It's an office building - so they have a couple "double breakers" labeled for the AC unit and furnace.

Thanks guys for the input so far...

Be careful with 20 amp breakers, since often times the previous owner will simply change out the breaker with a larger one (simply because the old one was tripping). Often times you'll find that the 20 amp breaker is paired with 14 gauge or smaller wire, 15 amp recepticles, or even correct wiring run through an over-populated conduit, all of which can create a fire hazard.

No problems with trusting a 20 amp breaker if you're certain that the entire circuit is up to the task.

From Microcenter:
AC Adapter Output Voltage    5V
AC Adapter Output Amperage    2A

5 USB BEs = 2.5A minimum, so you likely overran the hubs PS for a bit. I vote for power problems too.
18  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] coupon from ASICMiner .15 btc per USB miner in STOCK SHIPPING on: September 10, 2013, 10:12:13 PM
If you purchased directly from anker you can use all 10 ports and burn the thing out and request a RMA for it, I've used the AiTech and Orico with all 10 ports and no problems as of yet.

The new anker I've only used 9 of the ports on so.
[/quote]

New hub arrived (the 9+1 version), a BE in the +1 slot will start up to a constant green light, but it never shows up in device manager. I've tried a couple combinations to make sure it wasn't a bad BE, so it looks like that +1 port can't actually run a BE (aka, power only).

Sucks, now I have 1 BE left over with no more USB ports... Dare I order another hub with more BEs...
19  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] coupon from ASICMiner .15 btc per USB miner in STOCK SHIPPING on: September 10, 2013, 01:47:03 PM
I did too order the 'new' 10-port Anker (http://www.amazon.com/Release-Anker%C2%AE-Uspeed-Charging-Adapter/dp/B005NGQWL2), which is really 9+1. It ships with a 5A PS though which is good, and there were a couple postings stating that you can use all 10 ports.

I have one of the older 10-port Ankers today, though because the older PS was only 4A it get's problematic to use more than 8 Erupters on it.

We shall see, it should arrive sometime today.
