Someone was asking in the chat how it's possible that the site-wide luck is still over 102% after so many bets, and requested a breakdown of luck-per-chance, so here it is:

Quote
0.0001%   0.0002 (      2 /  1014500)  197.14%

                                        102.59%

I'm only showing chances which have had 10k or more bets.

Before generating the list I said it was probably due to vlees and nimda both hitting 0.0001% about twice as quickly as expected, and that does appear to be the reason.  1 million of the total 40 million bets have an average luck of 200% each.  Dilute that 40 times over and you get 102.5%.  Nice and tidy result.  Smiley

So the whole site's luck is still affected predominantly by a single lucky roll.  If only one of the two of them had hit the 1-in-a-million, as expected, luck would be very close to 100%.

That explains it very well!

Quick!  The site has been paying out long shots at twice the expected rate.  Get in there and bet long shots everyone!

Thanks for producing this chart.

Also, it's worth pointing out that less than 1% of customers were affected at all. We've never experienced similar problems in the past either.

We have already taken appropriate actions to prevent this from happening again. Everything is back to normal now.

well except for my account balance atm, you credited me with $600 & I don't want $ - I want my BTC back & there's way more that needs adjusting to get this so I'm not being ripped off, will add figures latter

You can use the Exchange feature to exchange it to BTC yourself. With our zero-spread promotion, you don't have to pay anything extra to convert your currency.

tried that & the newly credited $s don't work, just gives a circle with a line through it symbol in the BTC amount when try to exchange to coins, like a no entry sign so I'm forcibly stuck with $ & now must sleep, current Gox rate $5.26 - I expect you to honour this if it goes up, which it will

thanks

edit - too tired, found that one has to press 'calculate' to see, so it does work with these - but leaving now till tomorrow

edit: well thanks for the $600 at least, I just need to take a break now from all this crazyness - I will look at it again after a night sleeping on it, I don't think that it's back to fair yet but am too tired & confused by it all to unravel it atm, anyway thanks for moving toward getting this fairly solved for all you clients hopefully

Hi,

We just experienced a system error that caused a few bad ticks. Everything is back to normal.

We are deciding on the compensations for affected customers. Compensation will be in the form of cash credits. So feel free to re-establish your positions if you're affected.

We apologize for the error and we will get back to you shortly. Thanks for understanding!

Could we have an exact eta on this.

+1

"cash credits" means what exactly? $ or BTC or both, my BTC were false force liquidated & I expect them back in BTC, you then put me in to a 250 BTC short position due to this mistake, more losses - all of which I expect to be made good to me including the profit my position would have earned if this error had not happened

good to see you posting again - kindly confirm, thanks
20  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoinica - Advanced Bitcoin Trading Platform on: March 13, 2012, 09:18:11 PM
I was apparently force liquidated on my 750 BTC long position @ $4.46 when Gox day's low is $4.87

I was anticipating this rise & had left 750 BTC worth of limit sell orders higher than my base price with up to above $5 & some of these filled making me then short, I couldn't work out what the hell was going on when I took a look after being away for a few hours, with that price rise my limit sells should have orderly closed out my long position for a profit, instead I saw a new short position of -250 BTC which was running at a loss in a fast rising market so I just liquidated as it was impossible to understand, my margin balance before all this was at 130 BTC now it's at 19 BTC, I expect to be refunded 111 BTC & also compensated for any profit I would have made if this 'system error' had not happened

I have received no reply to an important query about my account from the 26th Feb with a follow up 1 week ago requesting a response as I can't even log in to customer support to check this - Zhoutong kindly put both these matters right asap!

My Bitcoinica ID is the same as on the forum - thanks

edit, added pic

so that's 99.5301 BTC force liquidated at $4.3658 which was never close to be refunded, BTC not $ btw plus any loss of profit from my position because of this including getting me short for -250 BTC at yet another unjustified loss

see incorrect forced liquidation status for my 750 BTC long position
