Good morning WO,s

2018 To forget.
2019 Looks better.

Speaking of Craig Wright - his recent application to the US copyright office related to btc and whitepaper, this is what the US copyright office had to say -

“As a general rule, when the Copyright Office receives an application for registration, the claimant certifies as to the truth of the statements made in the submitted materials. The Copyright Office does not investigate the truth of any statement made,” the Copyright Office wrote in a press release. “In a case in which a work is registered under a pseudonym, the Copyright Office does not investigate whether there is a provable connection between the claimant and the pseudonymous author.”

Anyone can file for a copyright, personally I still maintain my doubts that Wright is Satoshi, it seems unlikely.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LUXCoin—New PHI2 PoW/PoS Hybrid—SC—SegWit—PrivateSend—PoS Web Wallet—LuxGate on: May 23, 2019, 02:11:07 AM
Meantime, official Lux team statement regarding Cryptopia situation:

We have reached out to the team Cryptopia appointed as liquidators to establish a dialogue and ensure the best possible outcome for our community members who used the exchange. Unfortunately we don't have any information at this time, but hopefully more clarity will come soon. Ideally, we would like to see all LUX on the exchange returned to users. We are seeking clarity on what the intentions of the liquidators are with coins they are holding, and given the size of Cryptopia's LUX wallet, we are looking at all options to help and protect the community and the project.

Really hope for a good outcome.
Have almost half of my luxcoins on cryptopia.

I eated bread and drink water for months only so i can invest in luxcoin.
Feel horrible, i have not slept since the announcement of cryptopia....

Hope they will return the funds
I feel your pain like the rest of the team, its a shame that so promissing Cryptopia's behavior turned out in such a badly result.
As I said we will be informing about any change in current situation and try to help lux holders any ways possible.
Most likely, the solution of this whole situation will take some time, weeks probably, so advise to take deep patience and have some rest, Im sure the result will be positive eventually.

Really hope the result will be positive, i dont want to flip every penny for another year to invest that little money i have.

I was so euphoric that i was the owner of 1000 luxcoins, because that was the goal to have that amount.

I did everything i could, to reach that goal
Just hold tight sir, patience is the key in such case.

Upd: Cryptopia's update regarding their bankruptcy https://support.cryptopia.co.nz/csm?id=kb_article&sys_id=20d84d54db69778084ed147a3a9619bc

Most likely your funds will be returned to you, my sympathies friend. A bit of patience, and try not to worry to much about it, you'll likely get your funds. I signed up with cryptopia after their hack (although I trade Lux more on Coinbene, a decent enough exchange - Still though keep your funds in Lux's wallet and enable 2fa and backup your 2fa code!), I have 5-6k Lux sitting on the exchange currently.

The plan was to pick some up and transfer them elsewhere. The prices were a little cheaper on Cyptopia so that was a draw. I only realized the exchange wasn't allowing withdrawals after I purchased some Lux, so I thought ah sit tight and wait, now the exchange is going through liquidation. Likely in a month or two plus Lux holders on the exchange will receive their funds. Would be a bit of a sting though to lose 5-6k Lux, fortunately most of my stash is stored elsewhere.

Centralized exchanges that run on legacy software/code are pretty vulnerable, and having to store otherwise secure digital currencies on an exchange that has legacy systems sort of moots the point/advantages of crypto/blockchain systems. This is why that old exchange model is going to die. Decentralized exchanges that run off their own blockchains are a significant improvement over traditional exchange systems. There's a number starting to pop up in the digital currency space - Lux's exchange is pretty interesting for a number of reasons.

It's big that there are no maker taker fee's - that pretty much doesn't exist out there right now, also high security, and retaining control over your funds is big.
These types of exchanges are the way forward, even Nasdaq has been working on for some time a new exchange replacement that utilizes blockchain tech to function - even though the company doesn't really publicly push for this space/tech likely to keep face with the public and their customers, but that will likely change in time and reverse to the point that buzzwords will be misused/overused to the point of being mildly annoying.

On the John sendoff, hopefully the next Ceo will be just as brilliant: Godspeed Mcafee!
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Reach $100,000? on: May 16, 2019, 03:10:37 AM
It's okay to be optimistic and to expect the best but I think $100,000 is unrealistic for now. Time will come that Bitcoin could reach that far but it will take time.
Bitcoin needs a massive adoption to exceed beyond $20,000 as it has reached last bull run.
Though Bitcoin is unpredictable, there is still due process and tests that it should surpass before it reaches that high value.
I agree with you that it is unlikely btc will surpass 100k in this bull run that's started. I could always be wrong and hope I am in this case, but in my opinion this run will likely take btc above 20k, may take a bit of time, maybe not, but it seems likely the high point in the bull mkt will fall short of 100k. Will be interesting to see how things play out. Grab the popcorn ^_^
Long term though btc has a pretty good shot at surpassing 100k per btc, as long as the tech keeps being improved, and abjacent systems built out, as well as continuing business use and adoption continue.
Likely people will be phrasing the btc price debate in the times to come in Satoshi's : )

I would think, however, that such derivative bitcoins would be limited in number (maybe 3-10 times more, but not 100-1000 times more).

Have a look at the BTC trading volume on coinmarketcap and compare it with the blockchain movements for the day. You might get a fright. BTC denominated off-chain trades in derivative bitcoin will probably outnumber actual BTC by hundreds of thousands if not millions.

XD
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin rises very fast! on: May 12, 2019, 06:31:18 PM
There was a recent interesting statistic from Tommy Lee, that most of BTC's yearly growth in the past has occured over just 10 days. Of course this doesn't mean such a trend will continue, but it may at least for a cycle or two more. Quick google search of Tommy Lee should pull it up.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be considered a Religion? on: May 03, 2019, 11:43:50 AM
A person could certainly "consider" it that, but such a person would be incorrect. For a person to see it as a religion would be absurd and unhealthy.

"Long term is for losers."
Eh, better to lose in the short term while playing for the longterm.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today Bitcoin Price Huge Up !!! on: April 02, 2019, 03:39:13 PM
We went from 9 Billions to 16 in volume. And it doesn't seem to be over yet.
I feel a bit unlucky though as I was gonna invest a bit of cash today. I think I will anyway.  Grin
Difficult to know what will happen short term, but it might be a good idea to wait a few days as the price may well retrace a bit.
It's notable though that 200 say moving average was recently broken with this price swing.

Also just for fun -

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Blockchain technology could be used for registration of land or property? on: January 04, 2019, 10:26:29 PM
Blockchain tech for buying and selling, Do you think this is a possible approach?

Pros and Cons after implementing this method across the globe. What would be the impact in the market?
In my state (Ukraine) it is already implemented in practice. The data of the land cadastre, that is, the accounting of all land plots of the state and their owners is available online on the Internet and everyone can first see the information about any land plot and for a small fee can have a written extract from this registry. The blockchain technology in this case provides secure storage of large databases for online access.

This sounds like a great system, especially the fact that anyone can obtain a physical copy of the digital record system at any time. It would be interesting to try and encode say a private key, some way to have a printed record, like say a property deed operate similar to a paper wallet, where maybe the system only lets 1 physical version, or a limited number exist for a limited number/types of parties. That may help deal with forgeries, but might also bring in more questions about how to verify personal identification.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Blockchain technology could be used for registration of land or property? on: January 04, 2019, 10:19:58 PM
The Factom blockchain (and company) is one of my favorite blockchain projects that has discussed operating as a land registry database/legal record.  I'm not sure if they've started using thier blockchain for this, but an idea was - In many countries in South America corrupt government officials will reassign private land owned by individuals to themselves.

They've changed the land registry's of farmers, and then taken their land. Frustratingly when the farmers challenge the impostors legal claim to the farmers land, the Courts unfortunately often rule in favor of the corrupt politician that has stolen land for themselves or often their extended family.

(At least when I read about the company some time ago-) Factom plans to operate as a 3rd party land registry system. That way Countries where land is confiscated and the courts/officials prove they can't be trusted, a third party system, like Factom, can provide a trusted independent land registry/records system.

love that kind of news Grin

Hahaha nice, I love that pic.
Bitcoin and digital currencies keep making headway despite the Fud, and mainstream news' headwinds (Very very windy indeed, what a pong!  Wink ), Btc goes through price cycles, we're in a trough but best to keep in mind that continual improvements to the protocol have been added and are ongoing as well as adoption and mkt/societal penetration continues.
Vorhees makes a good point in relation to public faith in fiat might well take a shake in the next recession/depression. That'll likely drive up use and crypto valuations.
Keep calm and HODL on.
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: I bought at 19k, now what? on: March 02, 2018, 01:05:35 PM
I bought 3 btc on credit for 19k about. What should I do? I am way underwater.
Now you can retreat on the porch and proceed to lick your balls like an old dog while the top dogs are having a pool party with champagne and bitches across the street.
This is disgusting.
Apart from above quote, there's alot of good advice from people regarding just patiently waiting for price to grow as mkt grows and btc gains more usefulness and adoption. Wait years and btc may go alot higher than 19k.
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: Always Look on the Bright Side of Life on: February 06, 2018, 10:09:10 AM
Bitcoin has become a pretty highly googled topic. Interestingly it can be great to gain confidence from disagreeing woth clearly shoddy sources like say - The New York times! While phrases like "Should I invest in Bitciin?" Are significently up/searched for recently it's interesting that the propoganda machines that hardly ever seem to have the publics best interests at heart are hard at work smearing btc - (while older vocal opponents like that horrid Jp Morgan are capitulating due to greed, amd seejng tjey have little choice and sp plan on profiting from btc trading)
http://www.newtimes.co.rw/section/read/228989/
Here's a nyt article, if it was well researched it doesn't show at all when it comes to the article containing a shred of good evidence and nonbias. Times hasn't chamged too much, although they run clips every now and then as g control to convince that they have, same news source used as a "Weapon of mass delusion" to unfortunately convinced US public there definately were 'Weapons of mass destruction" before middle east shenanigans started with ol George Bush breaking a bunch of laws declaring war withiut the approval of other branches of gov, and getting away with what should have been cause for impeachment. I'm digressing, but back to the article,
the times are saying bitcoin has no practical uses, never mind the remitence mkt's 8-15% proce gouging, or the 1-2% that banks take to handle every digital transaction (nonphysical cash transaction) the article goes on to call btc's mkt cap/price as pure psychology (never mind gov forced fiat) - this from major news who's info is mostly lies, half truths and manipulation. When unreliable info  sources are going full steam on the fud train - this is cause for optimism.
Remember "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."
Increasingly btc's ignor stage seems to be past, onto laughter and ridicule it seems.
Wierd way to get optimism, but hearing the worst from the worst can be strangely reliable here.

Also if your like me and bought btc with a cool head in a cool bear mkt years ago, price drops can hurt, and sometimes even last, but current prices would likely have been considered by most a great success to reach, from buying at much lower prices. So zoom out, get perspective, don't usually go with predominant sentiment in bear or raging bull mkts : )

Always enjoyed your thread, saves me time too when it comes to researching positive btc developments, as your links are good and the threads a nice sort of compiler.
