1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PASC] PascalCoin: Deletable blockchain - Like Bank accounts [SAFEBOX] on: February 03, 2022, 06:36:31 AM

If I understand right those two PIPs were not even implemented... as of yet.

It would be nice to implement at least PIP-0012.

In fact, if one doesn't move coins for 4 years, it doesn't mean those coins are permanently lost. Speaking of coinrot in such case is inappropriate.

Frankly speaking, if the dev's goal indeed was to fight a coinrot, that inactivity period should have been changed to 80-100 years at least, to imitate a person lifetime. Having it equal to 4 years smells like a forced nationalization (basically - misappropriation) of money, much similar in effect to government printing money and causing a dilution of people's savings.

Yes, "coin rot" is a serious issue -- for coins like pasc that will wipe your balance.

Let me clue you in on how this plays out.

You have a small clique of pasc holders who actually follow this terrible project. They all think it is funny that your coins will go missing. They hope to get them. Over time, the money supply gets concentrated into this clique. If you look away long enough, then your coins go missing, and the 3 or 4 people here who have coins will laugh at you when you realize what happened. They all think they get richer, getting a few dollars of coins at a time, but in reality, the market cap, audience, and liquidity dwindles.

Look at other coins that don't have this stupid feature. Take Ethereum. If you had some NFT from Ethereum's first years and didn't check in on it, you'd be a multimillionaire. You would be able to do this because of confidence. Confidence is such an important part of money, that they make reference to it on many denominations. For example, US currency says "In God we Trust". In other words, money should inspire a level of confidence akin to religious faith.

These PASC jokers, and even the dev, would rather they get your NFT and your Ethereum balance, and be able to make fun of you. This coin will never make them rich. In fact, it will only make them and anyone who owns this coin increasingly poorer.

It's a coin that inspires no confidence because your coins can disappear. It is a coin for jokers and a joker developer who will laugh at you when your coins are gone.

Put your money in any of the other thousands of coins where you can be confident your money will not disappear according to some arbitrary rule.

This is the first time i saw bitcointalk endorsing a coin/token. This maybe a good project.

This can only mean one thing. @theymos was hacked.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO] XPLAY - A global extreme entertainment technology and tokenized ecosystem on: March 31, 2018, 11:23:47 PM
wait...so this coin is mostly for porn? lol

I thought the website was only not working for me https://xplay.fund/ Did anyone else managed to check their website?

Nope, it is not coming up for me either! That may indicate a problem with this company altogether and will keep me from investing.

Nice fud, but the real website works.

Bitcoin with his new Lightning Network can that, too. I`m not sure if Nano can compete with Bitcoin, when the Bitcoin Lightning Network is rolled out.  Bitcoin has the first mover advantage and nearly everbody on the planet know Bitcoin. This is why I didn`t invest in Nano.

I guess there are also other coins out there, which can compete with Nano, much cheaper and not so hyped. This was the 2nd reason I didn´t invest in Nano.

But good luck, anyway.

One huge advantage of Nano over the Bitcoin Lightning Network is the absence of fee. With Lightning network you still have to pay a fee to open a channel.

Nano has no advantage over Bitcoin there are so many bugs in the code of this coin. Maybe you are not following this project from early days so many question still unanswered and recent hack on bitgrail left a big question mark on the credibility on this project.

No fee at all > fees to open channels.
Simple as that.

hack on bitgrail left a big question mark on the credibility on this exchange. Bitgrail got hacked, not NANO, as Coincheck got hacked one month ago, not XEM.
Neither NANO nor XEM conduct a hard fork, because the exchanges got hacked, not the coins' underlying tech.

the problem though is that there were many questions about the man in the middle attacks possible on XRB before the hack. There was a big discussion about them on the forum and myself as well as others pointed out that an exchanged can be tricked by a double spend. Of course that was theoretical and until proven it's still theoretical, but  exchange owner blames this on the flaw. What we need is an official answer from the police. Was bitgrail hacked and if so how, or was the owner a crook.

The bitgrail owner wrote bad code and people were double depositing BTC and ETH. They then bought nano twice with their double deposits.

The bitgrail operator blamed the whole thing on nano, so he wouldn't be embarrassed.

It was dishonest, but not a scam. The scammers were the ones who didn't report their double deposits and used them to make buys.

Problem is, there's nothing free in this world. Nothing. Where's the value of sth, if it's free? One Bitcoin costs in electricity only is couple thousand of dollars (I don't remember exactly).
Sb always pays for a service, here - money transfer. So ask yourself a question. How free Nano can compete with sth (not necessarily BTC) that ppl get paid for enabling others to use it?

I like Nano as an idea. I invested in it. But I don't see any intrinsic value in it. Just speculation. And the lack of proper PR (like Charlie Lee does for LTC, or dr. Hosp for TENX) just makes me sad.

Let me help you understand. XRB boils down to a proof of stake system. All of the consensus is determined by nodes called representatives. People choose representatives to validate transactions, and their stake is proxied to these representatives.

Where is the value? The value is in the opportunity cost of the XRB. If the value of the XRB is used for something else, like selling the XRB and investing the proceeds in stocks and earning dividends, then this value will make profits. That lost profit (for those who don't sell XRB and invest in other assets) goes into the XRB network. Rather than burning up electricity, or diluting the money supply, individuals simply hold XRB they will use anyway and the opportunity cost is sunk into the value of the system.

That means, the more valuable XRB is, the more secure is the system because the opportunity cost is greater. This is like bitcoin where the more expensive it is to mine a bitcoin, the more secure the system is.

This XRB system requires only that a few people run very inexpensive nodes. If you have a raspberry PI and a $10 SSD card, you can run a representative node for about 2 watts of power. This can easily be paid for by any business that may have an income based on the utility of XRB. For example an exchange, or payment processor, or even a business that simply accepts XRB as a form of payment.

So, even though it requires a little "altruism" to run a node, the investment is negligible for any business, XRB community member, or even hobbyist.

You are right, nothing is free, but in XRB the costs are hidden because they are somewhat esoteric (opportunity costs). But ask any economist or investment advisor and they will tell you that when it comes to investments, opportunity costs are very real.

I sold a car to a friend of mine and it was stolen after he left it running outside with the door open. Am I to blame? According to your dumb ass logic yes. Dear god you need help.

Another analogy is "I gave the keys to my Ford to an Italian exchange operator and he took it. It's Ford motor company's fault my car got stolen."

So many questions left unanswered about when bitcoin was hacked on mtgox too.

What's your point? Exchanges get hacked.

Bitcoin sucks by the way. It is slow, it can cost $20 to send some, people spam it and kill the network all the time. Even doge is better.

The wallet of XRB is the worst i have seen. I wait for it to open over 30 minutes and after also update is slower and take a lot of time. When will be launched a light wallet?

Use Nanovault or nanowallet.. both are light wallets

nanovault.io

I mean a light wallet like bitcoin have, a local wallet not an online one. I want to be a secure one, and i don't have so much trust in online wallets.

nanowallet.io is a local wallet. It just runs in your browser. It is like the copay wallet for bitcoin.

any fucking update with that italian scum grail guy and allowing nano trading/withdrawls yet??!!

nano u cuck devs, work with him to get a resolution!

You don't work with a thieves like bitgrail for a resolution.

They stole money. If you give them more money they will steal more money. Capiche?

Don't leave your money on shady shit exchanges.

I thought you have been around enough to know that.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XRB]Cryptocurrency's killer app: RaiBlocks micropayments on: February 12, 2018, 09:22:34 PM
Is that the XRB are change the name to Nano in the Binance , why they change the name? I think I have missing some about it now.

You are lucky person who missed to see that things otherwise you have chance to lose your balance on Bitgrail. Which is huge lose and all this happen due to a terrible bug in code so many people crying because of this stupid job.

There was no bug in the nano code. The bug was due to the bomber misleading everyone that he was running a legit working exchange. You got taken by an exchange, and it isn't the first time exchanges try to pass their corruption/incompetence off as fault of the coin. Remember when mtgox tried to pin their crash on "malleability". Everyone now knows that was a huge lie, but suckers who leave coins on an exchange buy these lies because they can't handle the truth that they shouldn't have put their money in the hands of exchange operators.

Next time don't be lazy and set up your own wallet. There were and are plenty of options.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XRB]Cryptocurrency's killer app: RaiBlocks micropayments on: February 12, 2018, 08:00:44 AM
Please check out the following tweet: https://twitter.com/nanocurrency/status/942486214262886400

Nano told multiple times that all funds are safe and Bomber is a good guy and that they are working closely with him. Are you still working closely with him?

We trusted you. You said multiple times that Bitgrail is a trustable exchange. It was the first exchange for a very long time. Nearly everybody out there thinks that this exchange is affiliated with XRB/NANO. You should better bring the hacked guys their funds back by forking...

Nobody is forking anything. You lost your funds due to your own stupidity for leaving your coins on an exchange. You have nobody to blame but yourself.

Learn some personal accountability and take responsibility for your own actions, millennial!

Also no need to be a dick lots of people had their funds locked in there by bomber with his tiny withdrawl  limits and frequent maintenance ,i was withdrawing as much as possible but verification never happend so it was limited to .5 btc a day when it even worked.

Again, nobody to blame but yourself - a smart person would send 0.5 BTC at a time and not send more until they were able to withdrawal their previous purchase, whereas an investard blindly sends any amount and hopes for the best.

You are just intentionally trying to offend and that does not help anyone maybe it makes you feel good but that just makes u a sad person that I don't require anymore input from.

You just made my Ignore list with ur im so smart comments.

Mr PH.

You got the appropriate response for suggesting that the dev team should do anything special (or should take any responsibility) for your trusting a 3 month old exchange with any more money than it takes to do a daily buy and move off. The bomber was an asshole from day 1, anyone following bitgrail would know this. I doubt you were actually trusting, but just too lazy to manage your funds responsibly and move them to a safe wallet.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IOTA manual claims tracker (UNOFFICIAL) on: August 13, 2017, 04:36:49 AM
Damn, this communication and attitute of the leaders and devs is very chilling. I still have confidence in the technological aspects but the leadership worries me a lot.
This will harm the project long term and I am concinced it already has. You should hold back your huge egos and calm your temper on public communication.
Those people have reasonable claims and should be treated accordingly. It is understanable that as it takes longer and longer, their patience shrinks which ultimatly results in anger.
Don't respond with anger and arrogance, better find acceptable solutions. Be open to critique, also and especially in this case when it refers to your personalities. Absorb, reflect and grow with it.
It will pay out long term, for your characters and the prosperity of the IOTA project. I'm still supporting and hope it will remain so along the journey Smiley

How did this meme get started?

Here are the dry indisputable facts:

1) Everyone had the opportunity to auto-claim, meaning this would not have been an issue at all.

2) People insult and accuse us of scamming them for simply being too busy to prioritize what is ultimately a result of their own laziness / negligence.

3) Most of the current (15 or so) manual claimants FAILED to follow the manual claims instructions, therefore it takes a lot longer. We are busy 24/7, lazy people who contribute absolutely nothing is not our priority, but they have already been provided assurance they will get their iotas.

4) We have given them a fairytale ROI, yet they show absolutely no respect whatsoever.

Do you think that somehow because we are the leaders and devs we should just shut up and take it? And please don't come with the naive and stupid: "just rise above it", you can't just "rise above" fallicious claims and accusations of scam.

This has nothing to do with egos, just basic common sense and common decency, which these idiots lack

I have plenty of IOTA. A lot. I'll probably baghold it a long time because I'm smart that way.

Because of this I am honestly concerned about the reputation of this project.

You should clear the air. What were the terms of the ICO? Was the claiming procedure laid out with known repercussions if it was not followed correctly?

If not, and you have moved the goalposts on your supporters, then you should redeem the purchased IOTAs according to the terms of the sale, at the time of the sale. It does not matter if someone threatened legal action and it makes you angry. If you need their identity, it will be provided if they file suit.

The critical factor is to remain faithful to any terms you made yourself. It is not a matter of "rising above" anything except, and don't use this word loosely, deceit. If you do not remain faithful to the terms of the original sale (i.e. what they understood when they sent you money), it means you have deceived your buyers. There are no two ways. You may "agree to disagree", but it does not change the nature of your actions.

I can not find the terms of the original sale, and you could be acting well within them.

I hope that is the case.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO BTC|ETH|LTC] QOINTUM - Quantum-Secure|Smart Contracts|Multichain|QHTTP on: July 21, 2017, 08:09:42 PM
It looks like this ICO is falling flat and no one is contributing. This is because of lack of attention by the dev.

What I get from this is a few possibilities:

1. The dev doesn't care about this endeavor
2. The dev thinks he is "too smart" to show he cares -- known as "aloof dev syndrome"
3. The dev doesn't realize he needs to engage the potential buyers
4. The dev doesn't want potential buyers for some sort of inside play

My guess is it is #2. But there's not much anyone can do about aloof dev syndrome. The big problem is that these aloof dev ICOs ALWAYS turn out to be scams. I've never seen an aloof dev ICO that wasn't a scam. They may not intend it to be, but they usually are. It might be that the dev can't bring himself to interact with all these people who bought his coins but don't share his Einstein intelligence (for which no evidence is ever produced). But in the end, the dev goes dark and doesn't deliver, and the coin price tanks badly.

Dev if you are listening and can put aside your "I'm smarter than everyone here" issues, you should engage the community and try to get some buys. As it stands, you already abandoned this project once for lack of funds, and are likely to abandon it again for the same reason.

Quantum resistance is old news now, and even though you "came up with the idea a long time ago", the money goes to the people who ACTUALLY DO IT. This isn't a virtual reality video game where you win in your head. The pat on the back your mom gives you for a good idea is not worth shit.

It is the real world where doing means success and not doing means big time fail.

Just some tips from a pro.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AMS] AmsterdamCoin™ | Quark | PoW, PoS, Masternodes, TOR, Messages on: July 21, 2017, 07:14:47 PM
Dev, you should contact coryvmcs1 or whatever his name was, he posted here. They edited the source somehow to make it work for the pool, contact them maybe?

I decided to create a new Amsterdamcoin based on the current Bitcoin code. Lean and mean without PoS or masternodes. Keeping in mind the goal of this coin as payment option. Lots of things were already done for Bitcoin and thats where we profit. I think thats the best way to go.

Please let me know if anyone has a better idea.

In the last month several PoW only coins were victims of 51% attacks and double spend attacks.  These were coins with considerable value to make it worth renting the hashing power to perform the attacks.  So, if the new coin does not have the difficulty of BTC or LTC, you will need to deal with a threat that is not dealt with even in the newer code base of Bitcoin.

Choose your coin algo wisely, but even CPU only algos will be GPU mine-able someday and that is when the 51% attacks will come, after you have worked hard to build up the value of the coin.

Hybrids do have advantages, with or without Masternodes.

Plan for the future and make a PoS coin. Give up the PoW religious nonsense. It works for only the biggest coins, and isn't necessary for chain security. It is great for distribution because it is "fair" but shitty for chain security.

Look how many PoW coins got hacked. Even the WBB dev said at some point that WBB would NEVER be PoS. Now they have to go to PoS and he has to eat his religious words.

Do the right thing and go with PoS from the start. The PoW religious fanatics hate the suggestion, but they are delusional and shouldn't be listened to.

XRB is a solid project and is not some hyped up vapourware shit.

The dev is extremely hard working and he has a solid community behind him.

XRB has no fees.

XRB is the future.

If you don't see it, then you're a fucking moron.

I see it.

I see this one as having some legs if users can create 3D VR games and then there is some API where VOX can be used inside these games.

There is no reason game credits should have a higher cap than VOX. This could be a communication problem. The ANN has some informational holes that need clarification about all the use cases, planned and implemented for VOX.

Bottom line: inside games is going to translate into lots of upside.
