this model
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Crossfire-Warranty-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?
is not available in India. even if i try to import, there will be duty and taxes which will shoot up the price.
Any thing on the same line available here?

May be i should get Corsair RM1000 for the other two miners i have. But wouldn't it be wise to sell the S3 ( 4 of them) and invest in an S5. I have already burnt up cash on cheap psu's which i shouldn't have done
Or will this "CORSAIR SMPS RM 550" suitable for my need. Will the standard 6 pin Pci cable work on this? or will the kit have two pci-e cables?
I am asking this becuase not many details are available
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / PSU for Antminer S3 on: March 23, 2016, 10:06:19 AM
I guess most of you have upgraded to S5 or S7, but this is my experience with the psu units for S3 i had bought. I got it 4 S3's from a ebay. Since i was a complete noobe to this I got got the recommended psu by the seller which was cooler master thunder 450. It was a 450 watts smps. S3 consumes about 380 watts for both its walls. but the point here is the smps has only 80% efficiency. May be i get only 360 watts out from the smps. Also the wires were to be modified. There was is only one 6 pin Pci-e. the other one was customized.

After running the units for 4 days (with one hour break), I found most of the wires burnt out.

I bought wires and pins and learnt to crimp from the net. I made my cables but it wouldn't last more than a couple of days.
I realized the issue was not in the cables but in the Smps which was not able to take the load.

I did a bit of search and found that Antec VP650PM has two 6 pin Pcie outs.( Its VP650PM and not VP650P). I bought this unit. but to my dismay the connections on this 6 pin PCI-e where different. Therefore regular modular cable which i had wound not work.
Only the cable supplied with unit worked. Since i had bought two units I used the cable from the other unit to power up a single S3.
VOila!!! no heating issues. The cable are rock solid.(touchwood!)

Then i used two leftover 450 watts smps, just connected the 6 pin pci( leaving out the modded cable) and powered one more S3.
This worked too. Cable are warm but not hot enough to burn.

I need to order for antec VP650pm cables which are available with moddiy.com
Before that, if anyone has spare cable let me know. Any better solution let me know

I am not a professional so I do not know much about this stuff. I do my research on the net and learn from the forums. This i what i learnt and wanted to share.

I am yet to start the machine!!!
I don't have the cables yet. Will be able to  tell you what you need after Monday.

I built a DIY rig with ASIC miner and Raspberry pi.
It was pretty slow actually.
Check with Nirmaan Computers in Mumbai. But they do GPU based mining.

6 Pin to 6 Pin for a mac is mini 6 pin at other end right? Will it be useful ?

I this its better to go for a corsair than a cooler master because of the pin issues.
I checked a lot of youtube videos and box openings
An 8 to 6 PCI-E is available easy as a spare.
6 pins on both miner and smps makes it a little difficult with the case of cooler master.

Has anybody have info on
BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series

as to.
1. How many units of S3 it can handle
2. can we combine s3 and s5 on same psu

Bitmain is selling S5 on second hand.
Total cost with shipment comes around Rs.30000
but how about duty and tax?

I will be receiving one of the original cable from the seller today or tomorrow. I can probably show this one in the shops and ask for it.
Also Delta Periphrals in Chennai have asked me to wait till Monday. Lets see.
However, I found its available in www.moddiy.com. So who ever stumbles upon the situation like me can refer to this site.

Just realised on my corsair there is a 8 pin on the smps and a 6 pin on the miner with 2 more pins hanging. wont that work for you?
Cooler master has the following out puts
24 pin to cpu
(4+4 ) 8 pin x 2
that comes out fixed from the SMPS

5 pin Female sockets x5
6 pin Female Sockets x3

Antminer, again has a 6 pin female Socket. Therefore the connector required is a 6pin PCI-E to 6 Pin.
If its 6pin to 6+2 pin then we can leave the 2 pins hanging.

One more doubt is that can the
(4+4 ) 8 pin x 2 coming out of the smps be used with the 8 pin to 6 pin connector. Will it have enough Voltage and Amps to power the antminer by connecting this way?

How do i post a pic on this forum. Then I can clearly explain my situation
11  Local / India / Re: 6 pin to 6 pin female PCI-E connector cable on: August 13, 2015, 05:40:25 AM
From what I have understood from your post, it is likely that you can use the 8 pin - 6 pin in his case. In the 8 pin connector are the 6 pin together and the other 2 pin a little disjoint? If that is the case you can use it to connect the 8 pin on the miner and connect the 6 pin to the smps. The extra 2 pins can be left hanging.

There is a 6 pin Female socket on the miner and a six pin female socket on the SMPS.
Only 8 pin to 6 pin converter is available in the market.
there is no 6 to 6 or
6pin  to 6+2pin where the 2 pins can be left hanging.
it available on cmstore. but no shipment to India.
I don't understand how Cooler master can sell a product without any support.

12  Local / India / 6 pin to 6 pin female PCI-E connector cable on: August 12, 2015, 01:00:11 PM
Hi Guys!
I am from Chennai, and I recently purchased Antminer S3 through a contact from this forum. I also got Cooler master Silent Pro 850 watts SMPS.
But Unfortunately the 6 pin to 6 pin female PCI-E connector cable is missing. Can anyone help me where to find one in Chennai. Or online. If you can post me links it be great.
I have inquired with Challenger Computer, IT depot, and Delta Peripherals and host of other electronic shops.
One shop however had an 8 pin to six pin Female connector.
This cable seems a little difficult to get. I had to show its picture and only a couple of guys understood it.
Help Me guys!!!
13  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Group Buy for Mining in Chennai on: July 09, 2015, 05:15:51 AM
Hey Guys, I am fairly new to bitcoins, just joined the train in 2014. The difficulty in mining has gone up a lot in the past couple of years, and the ROI is not significant, primarily because of the electricity cost and the expenses to purchase the mining rigs. However, I have free electricity at my house, and was thinking of starting a group buy sort of thing, to collectively buy a mining rig and mine bitcoins. I am based in Chennai. So if any one from Bangalore-Chennai area might be interested in running a mining rig, or share the cost of mining rigs, I would be happy to help.

Hi I am in Chennai. I made a mining rig with Raspberry Pi and ASIC miners. I used BFGminer on Raspian Wheezy by following a Youtube Vid.
But after following all instructions I am geting a "Pool setup failed". Is there anything I am missing here?

the BFGminer promts me with URL:
whn i enter details , It asks me for User name and PW.
after that it says " Pool Setup failed.

Is it because of the Port3333, Should I enable it?

I am completely new to this. I just started it as a DIY weekend project and it has bothered me a bit more!!!!
