I would have liked to participate in the Proof of workout but shame it's already gone.
I would love for it to happen again! It was a really great idea!

Hello! I had the pleasure of interviewing Julia Tourianski (Brave the World) for the Coin Cafe blog, and I wanted to share it with this forum! I talked to her about everything from regulation to the Silk Road trial to the state of California, and I thought that she had a lot of interesting thoughts. You can check out the interview here: http://blog.coincafe.com/2015/09/11/julia-tourianski/Do you agree or disagree with her various opinions?

I don't see how these two are connected or could be connected !!! I guess some people see the connection as this: innovations like cryptocurrency take certain powers away from the governments and place certain powers into the hands of the people. Although, I'd have to agree that wars aren't started just because of governments.

im there too man, seems like possibly a btc address down at the bottom? The Morse code translates to an imgur link (HTTP:// I.IMGUR.COM/6RD8PC7.GIFV, I think?), but the link doesn't work, so I guess I don't have it totally right. I'm thinking all of the rest of the lines must be important, not just the Morse code line.

Haha, I had almost the same thing - http://HTTP://TEXTUPBONKER.COM/NRYBF. I also tried textupbonder, which is a little bit closer to textuploader, I guess. I did consider the "n" was maybe an "a" also, but I was so set on the b! No way I would have realized it was meant to be an L, because I was going off of the p.

well, I've solved most of it. but it's getting to be more guess work than logic.
I thought I had solved it, but it doesn't work! I can't imagine what else it could be.

Hm, interesting responses! I think some people are looking at the question a little too literally, and that might be my fault for how I phrased it in the post title. I think what Casserly was saying in that quote is that inventions like Bitcoin could bring about world peace - not just Bitcoin on its own. I believe she was referring to any & all future inventions that place power (or simply freedom) back in the hands of the citizens.
From the quote: "alternative systems of logic that can be controlled by people who are adding value, not by people who are using the system to manipulate others"
Do you think that systems LIKE Bitcoin could bring us closer to world peace? Or is it still a completely unattainable idea no matter what, as long as humans are around?

Hey! I'm a girl, and I love Bitcoin! I've been using it since 2012, and I'm currently working at Coin Cafe, Inc. I think recent news has shown that there are actually a lot of girls involved with Bitcoin, but it's interesting to think about how many girls are actually using it. To be honest, a lot of the girls I know who use Bitcoin were introduced to it from a guy - I personally found out about it through my boyfriend. I've seen some comments in this topic that seem to hint at the same thing. I'm all about giving the women of Bitcoin some exposure on our blog. The first BTM in New York City was actually at a designer boutique owned by a girl! Our most recent article was with Toni Lane Casserly of CoinTelegraph, and I actually addressed this question with her and found that she had a really interesting response to it. There definitely seems to be more female involvement now than when I first learned about Bitcoin.

“The greatest benefit for me,” Wallis said when asked about the pros of working alone, “has been having the flexibility to improve on the services I provide and trialing exciting new technologies without having to spend hours and hours convincing an uninterested board of directors.” http://blog.coincafe.com/2015/07/31/lee-wallis/

Casserly first became interested in Bitcoin in college, after learning of it from a fellow classmate. “Bitcoin, as most meaningful things in my life, found me,” she says. I sat down with her to discuss her work in the Bitcoin world so far, as well as her visions for the future of cryptocurrency – and for the world. http://blog.coincafe.com/2015/08/04/toni-lane-casserly/

Not really, but if governments used BTC (which will never be IMHO) we could possibly "follow the money" and learn a lot about what is really happening in regard to world conflicts. Who profits, etc....
This is a really interesting idea to me, and it would be fascinating if it did play out this way in the future. Thanks for bringing up this point! Definitely something to think about...

Since the distribution of bitcoin is more unfair than any other currency it is more likely to create more wars. It is a pure rich get richer scheme and someday the poor regions of the world have had enough of it.
What are your thoughts on a solution to this issue? Do you believe that there is one?

I interviewed Toni Lane Casserly of Coin Telegraph for our blog, and I thought that she had some really interesting & thought-provoking ideas on Bitcoin & world peace: "For the first time in our lives, we are actually able to define the way we think about politics, about logic, about money, about value… I saw this as a model for the next stage of the world, one that promotes both peace and a broader sense of equality. In doing so, I believe we can begin to create a more humanitarian planet who focuses on the success of the individual, while also building strong communities and cultures around Bitcoin or alternative systems of logic that can be controlled by people who are adding value, not by people who are using the system to manipulate others. With inventions like this, these inventions of abundance, the idea of world peace is not actually a dream but a very possible reality."I was wondering what people thought of her ideas on inventions like Bitcoin leading to the attainability of world peace. What do you think? Here's the full interview, if you're curious - click!

Perhaps it would be good to post a push up challenge (i.e 10,000 satoshis per push up to the winner, and 7,000 to the second, or whatever). A symbolic, not very high payment would do. Haha, I'm not very good with push ups, so that would give me an incentive to try to get better! I think combining Bitcoin with fitness would allow us to tap into the Instagram community a little more. There's a HUGE Instagram community for fitness and... basically no community on there for Bitcoin. I was complaining about this to my boyfriend (I'm very visual, so I prefer Instagram to Twitter), and he said that he didn't think people who used Instagram typically liked Bitcoin. I don't necessarily agree with him, and I think we could get some new Bitcoin users if a challenge like that was done on Instagram!

I have heard of an idea (not sure where, I think in zapchain) about paying Bitcoin for every heartbeat. When you workout, the heart rate raises, so it would be kinda a pay per workout.
The question is ... who would pay it. Besides, there are other ways to raise the heart rate that are not as healthy
But I like a lot the idea of getting some reward from being healthy / working out. It would be great to see government policies supporting that in the (far) future.
Yeah, it's nice to see Bitcoin used for/associated with something SO healthy & good for you! I definitely know some people who only know the more negative aspects of Bitcoin's history, and when I told them about the Proof of Workout challenge & Gyft, they were really interested in it! It's great to spread the good uses of Bitcoin that people who aren't too familiar with it can easily understand.

This thread reminds me that I have to take a vacation from Bitcoin and get my ass on the gym again. I've been too absorbed researching, watching videos and writing about BTC and looking at too many code lines i think I may be developing lordosis from too much sitting. I can't wait until my local gym accepts Bitcoin payments to come back unfortunately.
I would love if there was a gym near me that accepted Bitcoin payments! I've been thinking that ClassPass should definitely accept BTC, since it's such a technological company already. Unfortunately I don't see any gym accepting BTC anytime soon, they are so oblivious to its existence. It may take a lot of time until we see the first ones. I would be happy to see something like Planet Fitness accepting it even tho I don't like their gyms but they are the most famous ones. Yeah, that's why I'm holding out hope for something like ClassPass to accept it, since I don't have a lot of faith in gyms accepting it.

Hey, sorry about that... but now I'm confused? I thought "Off Topic" was for fun posts not related to Bitcoin. I posted an article about Bitcoin that's on a Bitcoin blog. In my eyes, I'm trying to open a discussion about Bitcoin (and how someone was so passionate about it that he quit his job because his boss wouldn't accept it!), so "Bitcoin Discussion" would be most appropriate. Most of the stuff in this Off Topic section is like, "Last drink you drank" and "What song are you listening to?" Wouldn't my post about Bitcoin be better suited to a board that's, well, actually about Bitcoin? It seems like it would get lost here among the posts that truly are off topic.

What regions of the world do you cover? Do you cover brick-and-mortar stores as well, or just ones online? We're pretty open to anything! We're based in NYC, so I've been able to do in-person interviews with the businesses located here (like the Techno Tourist one) or with people who happen to be in the city (we have an interview coming up with someone who is based in CA). But we've also interviewed people in other states - like the ones with BitPay, Wallis Creative, etc. They're conducted either over the phone or email (and we're open to a video chat interview too). And we'd definitely love some international perspectives too! For example, the Techno Tourist has offices all over the world, so we definitely are interested in covering more than just NYC. So far, a lot of the businesses have been primarily online-based, but FLAT 128 is a brick-and-mortar store, and Dancing Lion Chocolate has a physical location in addition to their Etsy shop. Very cool, would love to get an interview done for my site. Cool! Can you send me an email at emily@coincafe.com? We'll get something set up!
