i think alakim may be right about the point values degrading. It used to be "For a given Search Query, how relevant are the 30 shown items?" for 12 points. Now its "For a given Search query, how relevant are the 36 shown items?" for 8 points. Oh well, Im still gonna do it anyways...

I applaud your faith in btc when doing business. But remember where you are: this is bitcointalk, not ebay. Bitcoin is anonymous and untraceable, so doing business is very risky. You should expect to prove your credibility when dealing making deals of such value and not be offended since you will find no shortage of paranoid business partners here. This community, open discussion, and an extensive history are the honest man's best defense against getting ripped off. Im not rushing to judgement, but anyone who attempts to scam should be flagged
3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What level of tyranny will you live under ? on: April 24, 2012, 09:20:38 PM
Tyranny is such a strong word. The more people you cram into a state (ahem, CA) the more "tyranny" youre going to need. Less elbow room, less resources, less privacy for everyone simply because theres so many people trying to get along with each other, so more regulation of what you can and can't do. By contrast lets head over to North Dakota where there is miles and miles of nothing and no one. Who is gonna care if you do 90 mph down an empty highway, or light some firecrackers, or build a 25 ft tall wind turbine? Who is around to even notice? I guess my point is: population density leads to "tyranny", and it might actually be necessary to force everyone to get along.

If you're worried that Bitcoin is a sin in your religion, why not just go to the Catholic Church Al Gore and buy an indulgence carbon offset?

I'm more of an environmentalist than almost anyone I know, but I feel the same way that the green movement is looking more and more like a religion. Anyways back to the regular discussion...

Free electricity = free money. I think we've all had these thoughts at some point.

If only there was some other low-power activity we could be doing instead this would be great.

Slavery is pretty low-power.  You should try that.

Ok... Huh

11  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / As-is/For parts GPUs on: April 16, 2012, 06:53:57 AM
I've seen alot of damaged GPUs on ebay that sell for a fraction of the cost of a working one. I was wondering if they can still be used to mine. Sometimes the listing states the GPU won't output video correctly for instance, but the computational part (I'm assuming) is still viable. I know its risky because you dont know exactly what the problem is and every one is different, but could one buy up some really cheap GPUs this way?

id like to give gensen he benefit of the doubt, but he needs to respond to complaints like ones from Will. That means building a good reputation which is essential to small business. Once realgg.nl has made a name for itself, it doesnt need to prove its credibility anymore.

Because bitcoin is anonymous and decentralized, the honest man's best defense is his community (i.e. this forum) where he can learn who is doing honest business. Those that cannot prove themselves need to have a thread where we can flag them, and the user blacklisted. Its for the good of everyone

well, HUMANS and everything they do isn't green. The problem is that this energy must be used to decipher the SHA256 hashes, which is how the btc supply is naturally regulated. If only there was some other low-power activity we could be doing instead this would be great.

How about every time you plant a tree you register the tree and get 1 btc...or something. Someones would figure a way to scam the system, the value will decimate, and people will lose faith and stop using btc. And anyway who is gonna issue you that 1 btc? The central bank of btc? I think alot of people participate in btc because its decentralized and anonymous, and the environmentally unfriendly methods we have now give the currency the unique qualities that make people want to trade in some of there dollars for it.

15  Other / Beginners & Help / Tesla M2070...bitcoin generator? on: April 14, 2012, 06:35:53 PM
Just curious: what is this piece of junk I keep seeing on ebay? Its not listed on the bitcoin wiki's hardware comparison (although some limited info on M2050 does) and the sellers ads hardly mentions anything about bitcoin or Mhash. Granted, this would be a ridiculous choice for a real miner, i mean $1200 for what...100 Mhash? It just makes me wonder why this thing even exists. It sure looks beefy. Makes me wonder if this thing is meant for graphics, and how crazy my gaming performance would be. Im assuming the seller loaded the auction title with "bitcoin generator" to attract attention, right?  Huh
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: March 20, 2012, 04:26:44 AM
a decent 630 Mhash/s on my sapphire 5970, expecting to break 1 Ghash/s when my second one arrives  Cheesy....every time I see those 2-3 Ghashers in my mining team it makes me feel small, and I long for even more power. If I wanna go further I think Im gonna have to slap together a dedicated rig. Right now its a gaming rig used for mining, not the other way around. Thats when I feel like it goes beyond a hobby into an investment, and ROI is not great for BTC mining right?
17  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [Project Development] CoinWorker.com - earn bitcoin in your browser in minutes on: March 20, 2012, 01:30:20 AM
Hmmmm just noticed under "activity" my BTC are actually coming, but its gonna be over 2 days. Scrolling down I can see they never took more than an hour in the past. Thats fine, just weird how the payment delay became really long lately. I wonder if theyre having some trouble back there.... Huh
18  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [Project Development] CoinWorker.com - earn bitcoin in your browser in minutes on: March 20, 2012, 12:00:34 AM
Cool site, definetly legitamate, Ive made some btc so far. But the amounts are so low, when you work it out you'll realize how little money youre making...and maybe think about forgetting the whole thing and going out into the beautiful sunshiny day.

I also had some BIG disagreements on some of the answers, and I replied with my response why I was right. Only once was an answer adjusted from my whining. For example, There were twitter posts where teenagers used lingo that I feel like I understood but CF/CW didnt and it completely changed the sentiment if you know exactly what they're saying. Other tasks had multiple right answers and it was hard to figure out which was MORE right. Others relied on ambiguous standards or unfounded assumptions about which results were relevant to the searcher. I got myself locked out of the worthwhile tasks over this and cant do anymore coinworking... EVER :-( . The other tasks take a really long time and dont offer an equivalent reward, I mean 3 points is pretty low to do anything. I have a feeling I'm slowing going to get locked out of every type of job.

I have alot of suggestions on how to improve. For instance why not make the "click here to open up a new search window" link that points to just google.com just include the search string as well in the URL so theres no human error? All you need is a human eye and judgement, so why make them do the extra typing and clicking as well? Theres other stuff that didnt make sense to me either

On an unrelated note, has the payout stopped working? Ive passed up my 200 point min a long time ago and have had a 0.347BTC balance sitting there for days now. It used to cashout after 15-20 min... I dont want to continue if Im not getting paid. I like site and want it to succeed!
