Paying out by Dwolla doesn't seem to be working.  No transaction shows up and no amount is deducted from my confirmed BTC balance.
2  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who is quitting mining due to block halving? on: November 30, 2012, 02:48:16 AM
It's cold, I'll probably keep my 2x 5850s running for a little bit longer.

I'm going to sell my Single in a couple weeks, someone else can trade it in towards a Single SC  Grin and I'll buy a little single or jalapeno
3  Other / Off-topic / Re: TOWN HALL (prep) Meeting: Butterfly Labs on: September 21, 2012, 11:22:59 PM
I was planning to pre-order (or just order...) once pictures of hardware had been posted.  That's what I did with the singles.

Definitely selling my singles now.  Not worth the risk, even with Paypal's shitty protection.

BFL has always been a little shady, not giving timely updates being the worst of it, but this is too much.
4  Other / Off-topic / Re: How To: Fix Rattling Fan Noise on BFL Single on: August 03, 2012, 06:52:49 AM
I just noticed mine was rattling today... perhaps the fan started making noise at a similar time for all of us   Grin

Also I believe somewhere the BFL guy said that it was ok to work on the fans as long as your were careful (ie not voiding warranty).
5  Bitcoin / Hardware / [Archive] BFL trolling museum on: June 16, 2012, 10:53:56 PM
My best guess is that trade in policy will only be unit for unit within a product category.
Meaning you can only trade in 1 "old" single for 1 "new" single, 1 "old" minirig for 1 "new" minirig. And jalapenos will be sold without any trade ins. This way they will still be getting $$$ flow with every sale or trade in. Mark my words Smiley

Something interesting to consider.  I'll hold off purchasing another single until the trade-in in is clarified.

I *really* like your pool features, this down time is killing me though...  I would rather have a mandatory 1 or even 3% fee for better uptime...

2x 5850 and a BFL Single = 1.6Gh/s

The original plan was to have the two 5850s stacked on top of each other using 50mm motherboard spacers, like the icarus boards were done, but it turns out two of the PCIe slots (one is actually UIO or something) on the motherboard are meant to be used with a proprietary riser, which I don't have.  The BIOS/OS freaks out about IRQ assignment if I plug a card in either of them.  So... I had to put one GPU on the other side :/

The server is used for game hosting and general messing with, I figured why not bitcoin mine on it too  Grin  I took a CPU and its RAM out while trying to figure out the PCIe slot problems, but I'll probably put them back in a few days...

2x 1.8Ghz 6-core shanghai Opterons 16GB RAM

8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitForce SC - full custom ASIC on: May 28, 2012, 02:02:11 AM
With that trade-in offer I suspect that this thing will be *very* expensive, although I hope they can do something along the lines of the singles vs. mini-rig for a product lineup.

Of course all the little guys like me can just sell their singles to the highest bidder (for them to trade in)  Grin
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CAIRNSMORE1 DUAL AND SINGLE VERSIONS on: May 13, 2012, 11:21:02 AM
Something like 800-1000Mh/s on the quads?

Looking forward to more firmware releases.

Maybe even some community ones   Wink

Sorry I don't have it beside me otherwise I'd scan it and upload it. You could probably email them for the info.
The most important bits are the links to download mining software, but those are on their site anyways.

Ah thanks, I just shot them an email.

Does "-S auto" not work on windows?
13  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL Singles Order Date / Ship Date on: May 11, 2012, 01:39:57 AM
My order (3/8/12) was shipped on 5/7 and I received it on 5/8

It's a rev 3 with the smaller extra fan on the bottom.

The thing came with absolutely no documentation, not that I really need it, but perhaps BFL should at least include a piece of paper saying to go to bitcointalk.
Are you sure you didn't miss the nice bit of card stock with links and info? Maybe it's at the bottom of the box.

I double checked the box, there's nothing, even stuck under the little flaps of the box.  Undecided

What info is on that card?
14  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL "EasyMiner" Released. Reviews? on: May 10, 2012, 12:38:31 PM
I have a rev3 with the extra fan on the bottom (some don't have this?).

Using the diagnostic feature, the default firmware averages something like 844Mh/s while the 862Mh/s firmware averages 880Mh/s indicated, it is closer to the 832 and 862 advertised values in the non-ideal situation of actual mining.  Ambient temp is 74F (~23C) measured with an IR temp gun.  No throttling detected and a max temp of something like 53C for the single.  I will check power consumption in a bit when I move it to my mining rig.

cgminer 2.4.1 shows an average around 30Mh/s improvement, but I haven't let it run long enough to get a good average reading.

16  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Building the One ATI 5830 Mining Rig on: April 21, 2012, 05:53:25 AM
You'll want to make sure to grab an i7 with at least 32GB of ram

And make sure the RAM is ECC; that's essential.
Not only that, but you need a linear power supply for stability, and dual hex cores for speed.

I have a mining rig that has two hex-core Opterons w/ 12GB of ECC RAM and RAID Grin

4x PCIe slots, unfortunately I can only really use two of them... but mining on it is sort of its secondary purpose.

It's interesting though, in removing a CPU (and its RAM) it shaves only about 35W off of the idle power.

I need to post pics sometime, I have it in a 1U case with the GPUs sitting next to it on 50mm risers.  It's quite ridiculous  Grin
17  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mini Rig announcement by Butterfly Labs - 25gh/s on: April 07, 2012, 03:28:23 AM
Will upgraded singles be offered with the same lower power consumption as this mini-rig?

Looks like this thing has 32 fans  Roll Eyes
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] A public company will build a huge Bitcoin Mining Operation (ASIC). on: April 05, 2012, 08:10:27 PM
Why announce before you can even invest?  Or are even an entity that could be invested in?  Who is funding the initial research and dev?

If the first batch of ASICs comes back flawed, will there be enough capital to continue development?  What if it takes more tries than that?

Personal opinion:

Vague announcements like this only create uncertainty for everyone involved.  Is that how you really want to start a relationship with investors?  It either means that development has only just started (ie it will be a long time before any product) or it's a scam in some way.

19  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Fire Alarms? on: April 03, 2012, 07:32:56 PM
With the sometimes questionable construction of mining rigs and running lots of GPUs with lots of power in tight spaces, I wonder if having a fire alarm directly over the setup would be a good idea.

What smoke/fire alarms would be good for electrical fires?  I have this nagging suspicion that the $5 ones at wal-mart aren't the best.  Grin

Maybe even have it rigged so if there's smoke the power is automatically cut...
