1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] KRAKEN.COM - Exchange with USD EUR GBP JPY CAD BTC LTC XRP NMC XDG STR ETH on: January 01, 2018, 02:20:43 PM
Hi, I hope you can help me.
I have an open request nº 1142379 in Kraken since December 20 and I have not received a response from the support. I have sent several more mails and nothing.
My problem is that by mistake I have the account blocked, in one of those times that asks for automatic mail to confirm that it is you, I'm wrong link. What I can do?. Thank you
You can try to escalate your ticket using the form below...  in general, the exchanges are swamped by the recent huge influx of new users, hopefully they manage to scale up in the coming weeks.  I would not open new tickets about the same issue as it just creates more mess.

Kraken's reply on my ticket wrt the issue of disabled deposits and withdrawals and my deposit not credited:

Quote
We sincerely apologise for the current tier level error clients have been receiving, our engineers are working on the problem though we currently don’t have an ETA on when the situation will be resolved. If clients have another issue to discuss feel free to reply here, for now we ask our clients to be patient while we solve this problem.

Note: We ask that clients don’t reply unless they have an unrelated issue that they don’t already have a support ticket open for as replying won’t help get this situation resolved any sooner.
Thank you,

This is a mass message. Tickets will be marked as solved, replying to the ticket will reopen it.

Have a lovely New Year!

Note: Status updates about Kraken can be viewed @ https://status.kraken.com & https://blog.kraken.com/post/1413/update-on-system-performance-and-upgrade/

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BTER.com is shutting down on: October 26, 2017, 05:11:42 PM
You should still get in touch with them about what to do with your yuan. Maybe request an equivalent in Bitcoin or some other crypto?

Their reply to CNY withdrawal requests as crypto or other instructions:

Quote
I am afraid you can not  withdraw CNY .
CNY can only be sent to bank account in mainland China under your name.

And if you reiterate that you ask them to convert CNY to BTC or other crypto they just stop answering.

BTC38 (another Chinese altcoin exchange) closes down much more gracefully - allows to convert CNY to crypto, resolves tickets etc.   A pity that BTC38 has to close down as well, no regret for BTER.
4  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: bter.com duty on: November 07, 2016, 10:04:13 AM
Indeed BTER is still alive, it was a false alarm.  Of course one should take precautions, don't leave untraded coins there etc (although that holds for any exchange anyway as MtGox or Bitfinex taught us).
5  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: can anybody withdraw from bter.com? on: November 06, 2016, 09:58:48 AM
Eventually, I received a reply from Bter customer service and I am able to withdraw now.
So although it takes time to resolve issues, Bter is still alive!

atomicat, have you tried to use them recently?  At least for me, the site looks looks like working fine (deposit, trading, API etc) - except of no withdrawal, no answer to tickets regarding the withdrawal issue (also their QQ number does not seem to exist anymore), as I have just written in another thread today.  Kind of reminding the last weeks of Cryptsy (and some other exchanges)...
7  Economy / Scam Accusations / can anybody withdraw from bter.com? on: November 05, 2016, 11:59:02 AM
I have been trying to withdraw from bter.com for several days without any success...  I only get the error message "Account is protected. Please contact admin to unlocked it.".  Several tickets created, no reply.  I even created a QQ account but I do not seem to find their QQ number 4000070955 in the network anymore...  Is bter definitely dead?  Anyone has any recent experience with them or an advice?
(Please deter posting how irresponsible/stupid anyone still trading there must be, thanks.)
8  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin debit card on: October 03, 2016, 03:25:53 PM
I want to take one of them but card price is too much

You can't even be serious , the fees , the limits , and the price card (both virtual and physical one) are probably the cheapest out there and you couldn't find anything better. See here for a comparison : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1410577.0

That may easily be the case but still it may be just too expensive for many people, compared to converting BTC to fiat at an exchange and sending the fiat to an existing bank account with a debit/credit card attached to it.  That way you can have ~0.2% conversion rate instead of ~2%, no need to pay the unavoidable extra 1 euro per month, plus the ATM/payment fees of your bank are typically cheaper.  Everyone has to decide whether the simplicity of the service is worth the extra fees.

I have only experience with the E-coin card that has been working reasonably well for me for over a year.  No major issues during that time, just a few minor ones. The SMS confirmations after payments were rather erratic (sometimes coming, sometimes not).  The 1 euro fee was charged every month, not only in the months with an activity as I was assured the by E-coin team initially.  Occasionally there were issues with the E-coin webpage, usually resolved within 1-2 days though. The Wirex account forces a mobile phone verification which I don't like, taking into account that together with the unavoidable 1 euro fees, I don't think I will try Wirex after my E-coin card limits are exhausted.

The site of bter.com is not down, its just their DNS provider that seems to be in trouble.

You can route around this outage by adding an entry to your hosts file like:

Code:
141.101.120.32	bter.com www.bter.com

Remember to remove this when outage is over!

You are right!  Thanks for pointing this out.  I can indeed connect by doing this.

I'm sure they are aware it's down. Whether it's down for an outage, or something worse, is the question. But it's been down for many hours now with zero comms, which is the worrying part.

that was exactly my feeling but then zazarb said it worked for him, so I hoped it could be just something (eg IP) specific for us and it's up otherwise.  Probably just wishful thinking...
11  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTER not working today? on: May 19, 2016, 01:55:13 PM
It is down for me too even when using proxies from China or Russia...  zazarb, which country do you connect from?  Does anyone know how to approach bter.com to notify them?  They do not post anything on their twitter account, so perhaps it works for some people and they are not aware of the problem?
