Correct but the broadcasted transaction would get included in both chains unless i have the wrong understanding.
After split one chain does not care about the transactions on other. Each will only consider its own transactions.

The exchanges should credit your wallet only after it sees confirmations on both chains. Not just one chain.

Can some one tell how the trust system works here, I see things like:

124: -0 / +16
? ??: -1 / +4
8: -0 / +1
-62: -6 / +2

What does these numbers mean?
Also what are different colors[green,light green,red,orange etc.] for?
