2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Co-workers talking about bitcoin.... so much misinformation still today on: March 10, 2014, 03:21:29 PM
They are "highly technical" but also "highly dumb".

Anyway I hear this type of thing more and more often lately too.  A couple of people have mentioned the "bitcoin ceo" who committed suicide but if you go to the website of the company that she ran, you can't even find anything about bitcoin on there, at least not without a long search.  It certainly isn't a "bitcoin website", or company for that matter.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Leah McGrath Goodman offers more details on conversation with Dorian S. Nakamoto on: March 07, 2014, 09:34:36 PM
It makes no sense for Satoshi to be honest with her and then turn around to deny it, especially considering he had many days to prepare for such an encounter.

Yes this....unless he is mentally off from his stroke, why would he admit to it to begin with?    He was either confused or the reporter is "exaggerating".  Her actions in general speak to what kind of person she is so making something up is not a big stretch at this point.
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase canceled my bitcoin request because the price increased on: March 02, 2014, 04:30:39 PM
They do this all the time:

http://coinbasefraud.com/

They are crooks, plain and simple.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exposm does a comic on Bitcoin on: February 28, 2014, 05:22:24 PM
I lol'd

Then I cried

Luckily I dumped all my BTC at 900$ buying at higher than 100$ for investment just seems crazy to me.

Why would you sell at $900?  That means you could buy back even more bitcoin now at a lower price?  Don't you understand that "buy and hold" is the only smart way to do it?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's time to divorce ourselves the bitcoin foundation on: February 27, 2014, 08:38:49 PM
I was listening to Charlie Shrem on Let's Talk Bitcoin and he was badmouthing the foundation too.  It seems like some people of poor character on there..not all of them, but far too many.
8  Other / MultiBit / Re: What happens to my BTC if my computer melts, explodes, etc? on: February 27, 2014, 07:30:02 PM
Yes good advice.  Multibit is a pretty small directory, so just backup the entire thing if it makes you feel better.  Or just backup your wallet.dat file, which is really small.

But make multiple backups and if you encrypt them as well (with TrueCrypt, PGP, etc), then you can even upload some to the cloud.  But put one on a flash drive and mail to a relative or bury it in the yard or whatever.  As long as it is encrypted, and you can decrypt it, then it shoudl be safe.

And yes make sure have backed up since you created a new address.  I just made a new wallet and just quickly made 400 addresses in Multibit so I can use those for some time and not need to do any more backups for the forseeable future.
9  Other / MultiBit / Re: Did I encrypt my Multibit key properly? on: February 27, 2014, 07:18:04 PM
Yes what are you talking about backing up the "private keys".  Just backup your wallet.dat file and encrypt it and that's all you need to do.  Don't make it overly complicated if doesn't need to be.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cold storage cleared out becuase of leak in hot wallet... Explain on: February 25, 2014, 11:18:35 AM
Yes it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.  Bitcoins in cold storage don't just disappear.  They have had to be stolen if they are truly gone, in this case.

I still don't trust that amateurish crisis documement that was "leaked".

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CPU Miner - Output Typo? on: April 20, 2013, 12:39:26 PM
Yes CPU Miner is notoriously slow so that is not surprising. I should probably install it on my computer but not sure if it is worth even bothering.  My GPU is even slower though.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where is this Bitcoin logo from? on: April 20, 2013, 12:37:49 PM
That is a good question. I've always assumed someone just kind of contributed it "open source" but not sure.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitstamp uptime on: April 20, 2013, 12:34:05 PM
That is a good resource. I will use it too.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: April 20, 2013, 12:32:46 PM

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: avalon asic buy in batch#2 on: April 20, 2013, 12:32:01 PM
Those avalons are so cool.   I wish I had one.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Activating ripple account on: April 20, 2013, 08:02:36 AM
Ok.. And what how/where do I find and add gateways?  Huh

Only two gateways right now are Bitstamp and Weexchange...well those are the two major ones.
