1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: First thing you will do if you win big time in a Casino? on: September 20, 2025, 02:31:23 PM
I just saw this one and I am really amaze on what he did.

A casino guest just won over $1.3 million… and the first thing he did? Call his mom.
At FireKeepers Casino in Michigan, the guest hit the venue’s largest jackpot ever. But instead of celebrating alone, he grabbed his phone and told his mom: “Momma, we are out of the hood. We’re leaving tomorrow.” That emotional call went viral because it wasn’t about luxury, it was about finally giving his family a safer, better life.
Sometimes the biggest wins aren’t about money, they’re about the people you love most.

1.3 MILLION Casino Win

That is truly amazing. Unfortunately, some people quickly spend everything when they have big wins, and then are back to square one. Getting out of the hood, together with your mother is a whole other story, it is truly life-changing.

Money should only be a tool, not a goal, and the real win is the ability to use an unexpected opportunity to create a new path, where not only wealth matters, but also the meaning we give to it.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: politicians gambling on: September 20, 2025, 02:10:23 PM
When we talk about politicians who gamble themselves while banning it for others, one simple truth stands out: those in power often make rules for everyone else but exceptions for themselves, especially in countries with dictatorial regimes or weak democracies, and high corruption levels.

It is very unfortunate, and I am sorry the op's country is like that. My country has its flaws, and corruption is certainly one of them, but we have a pretty strong democracy (not institutions, but the will of the people is crucial). So such things can lead to big scandals and then major legislative changes.
3  Economy / Economics / Re: The economy of having children on: September 20, 2025, 01:51:51 PM
Children are not a way to improve their parents’ financial situation, and that's a wrong choice to have them.
Parents bring kids into this world and are thus obliged to support them, cover their basic needs, help them develop and prosper. Kids, on the other hand, never asked to be born and don't have an obligation toward their parents.

True care means giving children the freedom to learn, make mistakes, and build their own path—not expecting them to become an extension of someone else’s dream.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When Luck Turns Your Bankroll Around (Slots Story) on: September 20, 2025, 01:42:45 PM
Congratulations on the win! Slots don’t give you control over the outcome, and any win is always random. But that means I can be a nice surprise. Managing expectations to avoid gambling becoming an issue sound reasonable.
And hanging out with friends to celebrate and keeping some of the money for future sessions seems like a good way to spend the won money.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to avoid cashing out your game on: September 19, 2025, 04:58:32 PM
I just try to be at peace with my decisions to avoid such situations. It's kind of when you're told at school not to try to fix your answer if you're unsure and put something there first. So I don't remember any instances when I tried to cash out, actually. I believe it's a useful approach to set your stake amount and risk limits in advance, and then "let go" of the situation — go to sleep or do something else so you don’t act on emotions. Games should remain a form of entertainment, not a source of stress.

7  Economy / Economics / Re: Don't keep money meant for your business in Bitcoin. on: September 19, 2025, 04:51:44 PM
Bitcoin can be an interesting tool for savings, but it is too unstable for everyday business expenses. To keep a company running smoothly, it is important to hold the main funds in regular currency or stablecoins for salaries, rent, and other essential payments. Cryptocurrency can be used as a small part of savings or for investments, but it's perhaps unreasonable for everyday expenses, small personal transactions.

10  Economy / Economics / Re: What pushes the wealthy? on: September 13, 2025, 02:14:15 PM
I couldn't find research regarding the op's particular question, but I found this 2020 Forbes article (https://www.forbes.com/sites/rainerzitelmann/2020/06/08/scientific-study-luxury-is-not-what-motivates-rich-people-to-become-rich/) on the motivation of rich people, which is quite insightful.
As for many being rich is mainly about freedom and independence, I would assume people keep working on getting richer to increase this sense of freedom. Also, many rich people seem to work because they like creating and doing things, which is what they need money for.
So my second assumption is that for a significant amount of people being rich isn't the goal. Thus, they continue to do what they actually want to do, and that either brings more money or requires becoming richer.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Team's Failure, who is Responsible? on: September 13, 2025, 01:59:08 PM
In gambling and sports betting, people often feel the urge to blame someone for a loss. Of course, losing money can be unpleasant, and taking responsibility for your actions is not for everyone.
When it comes to sports games, the outcome is influenced by many factors: the opponent’s strategy, the teams' physical and mental readiness, referee decisions, random events during the match. But nobody is to blame for a loss of a match. A game is a game, it just so happens that sometimes your team doesn't win.
12  Economy / Economics / Re: Smart money preoaring now for 2028-2029 biggest crash on: September 13, 2025, 01:09:14 PM
To me, a global economic crisis is long overdue. However, it doesn't mean that it'll happen in the years the op mentioned or that the consequences will be as noted in that post.

Stablecoins are influential, but still not close to actually becoming fiat replacement. Also, as stablecoins are sort of pegged (not really, but trying to be) to fiat, then if fiat deflates, there'sgood reason to think stablecoins will kerp focusing on being close to fiat and thus lose purchasing value as well.

13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your perspective on the increasing number of casinos? on: September 11, 2025, 09:01:03 PM
Some say that the more casinos and gambling platforms there are, the higher the risk of addiction. But, in my opinion, there is no direct link: having more casinos does not automatically make players addicted. More important are factors like marketing (aggressive advertising, as they do in some countries), gambling accessibility, and individual risk tendencies.

If it's physical casinos brightly positioning themselves as such, making it hard for you to just walk around without seeing one, that's problematic. But if it's various online options and the advertising is more targeted, focusing on people who likely already gamble, it seems okay to me.

More casinos just create more opportunities to play, and for some people this can be risky, but for most it does not lead to problems.

16  Economy / Economics / Re: Money need reasons to move on: September 11, 2025, 08:18:04 PM
I believe it's good that the larger transaction is, the more attention it gets from authorities. It makes sense, as if transactions are very small, then even if they're illegitimate, there are just too many of them and the scope isn't worth bothering.

Perhaps the bigger the sum, the harder it is to justify, because money itself becomes an indicator of influence and power, it draws attention abd makes some impact.
Then again, I am not sure that such a system exists for multimillionaires or billionaires. I don't imagine they need to go through various checks to buy something worth a couple hundred dollars. Or maybe they do but with that kind of money, they just let the finance people deal with all that for them.

20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does refusal to play (deprivation) help cure gambling addiction? on: September 07, 2025, 07:08:54 PM
Rehabilitation from gambling addiction is often associated with completely stopping the activity, and it seems necessary for those who have hit rock bottom financially. In reality, taking a break from gambling shows how strong the habit is and helps reveal the root of the problem: many players have the illusion of easy profit without any skills in risk and money management, just as the op noted. I don't think weaning is necessary to recover, as the goal of rehabilitation, to me, is getting gambling under control. But perhaps for people with serious addiction, getting it under control is only possible through a full stop and switch to other things.
