1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: "Avalon" ASIC mining machine, announcement & pre-order start. update:9/18 on: September 19, 2012, 10:23:58 AM
Hi Ngzhang

count me in for pre-order of 1 unit. BTC or PayPal preferred. IŽll finalize the order as soon as your ordering web site is online.

thx for all efforts and looking forward to it.
2  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] BFL Single Power supply cables for PC power supply on: July 25, 2012, 01:55:12 PM
Hi nusizu,

The BFL single uses a 2.5x5.5mm coaxial power plug. The 2.1x5.5mm has a too small center hole and will not fit on the unit. The x6500 FGPA device does contain the 2.1x5.5mm just for reference.

Also a free bump for some damn fine cables!  Wink

ok; many thx & brgds

Which DC connector does the BFL single use ?

I tried this one, but IMHO the center pin is different: DC power jack with 2.1mm center pin (+) diameter and 5.5mm barrel (-) diameter
If someone could clarify, pretty much appreciated

thx

does it worth buy a mining rig FPGA? how much time we will need to get back the investment? 2 years non stop?

before the BFL ASIC announcement, I would have said yes, it pays off, now I would be a lot more careful.
Only time can tell how BFL will really perform with the new gear. If it turns out to be real, then all FPGA will be obsolete (for mining, they still hold a certain value of course). I personally changed my strategy and pre-ordered the BFL ASIC`s with half of the planned invest for the next months. The other half still goes into FPGA, but this is high risk. Maybe BFL is high risk as well. This announcement is game-changing and there is probably not a "one-and-only-fits-all strategy"
But the primary focus is probably not to make dollars out of the project but support the whole idea in some way. In the secondary focus, of course we all want to prosper ....

Everything is better than "deepbit"

why is that ? can u elaborate a little bit further ? Fees to high ? Algorithms not state-of-the-art ? I understand, that they use the same PPS payment method like others do. What do u use instead, if I may ask that question?

try this calculator http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator.php

I got a hd6990 so i'm getting about .4 btc per day

I switched my 6990`s off due to power consumption and switched to FPGA mining. HW from different vendors
currently 3,8 GHps at approx 240 W
That equals around 2 BTC per day

BTW: what is your opinion on deepbit ? I choose that pool, just because it was the biggest but if someone has better experiences, just let me know
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tax Free Bitcoins on: July 04, 2012, 09:34:36 AM
Simple.  Never exchange BTC for fiat currencies.  Only exchange BTC for goods and services.

is that really the case ?
IMHO, if you purchase goods with BTC this should trigger a tax debt, at least in some countries ?
Would love to see a comment from a professional tax advisor on this
BTW: are there some on the forum, who maybe do a FAQ on this ?

not that I care too much on this, but I want to know, what I am doing ...

I submitted my upgrade pre-order 2 days ago and it went through without any problems.
Paid with BTC, so no issue. I got an automated reply immediately. That was it. Nothing else. Order # 24XX for those who do the stats.
That is pretty much the same as some months back when I ordered the FPGA singles. Just one order confirmation and the waiting starts.
I found BFL responsive however, after the 6 weeks committed lead time elapsed, I sent an email and got an answer back with a modified ETA. For me, that was ok and I do not have any complaints. My units finally arrived and are busy now.

They work as expected and I would buy some more. If anyone wants to sale some from within the EU I would pay the original amount from BFL + 19% which equals my tax bill otherwise. I would do a bank transfer (no BTC left in the moment) upfront to a member with reputation.
