2  Other / MultiBit / Need some help with multibit wallet on: May 23, 2017, 06:49:48 PM
Hi all,

I’m having big problems with my multibit HD wallet.  I use it a lot and have it often open for long times.
I’ve seen the same with multibit classic, it works like a charm but after a while an unconfirmed transaction gets stuck andit makes the entire app useless.

So here’s what happened and what i tried:

- Send a transaction and didn’t confirm
- Found out from merchant fee was’t high enough

-Send out another transaction with higher fee, worked
-had some unconfirmed balance and coins from first unconfirmed transaction didn’t reappear.

-send out another transaction, with 80000 satoshi’s as fee, didn’t work

-send out too more with increasing fees, also got stuck

-started stressing out why i couln’t send any bitcoins anymore
-installed electrum and used “empty wallet” in multibit with fee over 100000, didn’t work

-in electrum i used “child to parent fee” and it costed me 57$ but this confirmed the transaction coming from the “empty wallet”-transaction in mutibit.

-A lot of bitcoins vaporised and are still stuck in multibit, the transactions don’t confirm

-every time i use “repair wallet” it seems as if the last transaction that were made are the stucked onces, see screenshot.  I’ve made these transactions over a couple of days, but after “repair wallet”, they are shown as “today”.
-I’ve restored from wallet words, same story

-i’ve installed on 3 different computers and each time i recover from wallet words i see different numbers with the stuck transactions.  Like they randomly appear.
-I estimate i have a little less than 0.2 BTC stuck in uncofirmed transactions.
_it all started with a low fee transaction but i have been using the same fee since i downloaded mulitbit.
-I think the first unconfirmed transaction that started this bug was about a week ago, on 15/05

If anybody could help me investigate this please send a PM, i can give you the wallet and it can get burned.  I've already recovered most of it, but i still have some stuck transactions.
And while we"re at it...i still have a multibit wallet from around 2012-13, it had the same problem.  I have one wallet file which is 2 MB, which means it still has private keys right?
Multibit HD really failed me over & over again, i hope electrum is better now, i remember checking it out years ago and back then it wasn't stable so i chose multibit, but now i noticed it evolved much more than multibit did.
Either someone helps me recover the stuck transactions or i lose the coins, i've treid so many things, i can't fix it....I've send emails to multibit support but not a single reply.
If you're interested please PM me.

how do I get WC out of my old wallet? It won't sync.

1. find the wallet.dat file
In windows start - execute - %appdata%  then you'll find it in the whitecoin map
In mac open finder and in the menu go - go to map type ~/Library/Application Support  then find whitecoin map

2. backup the wallet.dat on your desktop
3. delete all files, also in %appdata%/application support
4. install the new version
5. replace the wallet.dat with your backup
6. when you start encrypt your wallet if it isn't encrypted yet, otherwise you'll get runtime errors.

Good evening, I made a video for the contest that ultimately never took place, is that I have already and you have seen many already, but I hung up on the old thread, during the war. And I would like this in the two current threads of BC for those who want to see it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1I73X0Wges

Hope you like it.

Just like the other video's i've seen regarding the contest it doesn't really explain anything about Blackcoin.
I think the contest organizer was hoping he'd get a fancy weusecoins.com video...

Copy of BC idea. Bad.
I was big fan of WC but after mogonzo manipulation, attack, pos without pos, wallet problem etc etc bs and now ctrl+c BC PR idea, I know that Wc is not on a good crypto way :-)

Actually I have been following both BC and WC since day one and the first time I read something about pro PR-firm was from Mogonzo, before that there was IconicExpert who wanted to do it himself.
Here's how i remember it:
1. IE blackcards & wallstreet
2. Mogonzo talking about PR firm
3. Blackcoin PR firm

And who gives a shit anyway, everything has already been done before in both cases.  Nothing new and nothing worldshocking, blackcoin looks like a pyramid and whitecoin a public dirty toilet.  You can't re-invent warm water.  The fanboy age of crypto-currency has arrived.  Let's have some fun.

Yeah I sent 10 White Coins to cryptsy as a test and they dont show up in my balance. Kinda BS, since they received the white coins, and can now do whatever they want with them. I wonder how much they have stolen this way.

I heard they are selling them back to the original DEVS of whitecoin who are living in Peru.  Cryptsy is in on it too.  Its really scrwed up.  I swear, I was told that, and I heard it.  Read it somewhere too.

[sarcasm]That's a very reliable source you got there[/sarcasm]

is your wallet unlocked?
Post a screen....
Version of the Wallet?

I just wrote that my BC wallet is staking, do you really think that I'm that stupid that I only unlock one of them? Roll Eyes

It's the newest version, it just doesn't work.

Devs, fix this (Mac wallet not staking) immediately. Things like this are very bad for the coin.

My mac wallet is staking.

no, everything is dead serious here, welcome to the newest crypto-generation.

NOT a good idea to associate with Asiacoin.

let the scamcoins die.

I never really checked out Asiacoin cause i was dancing on the tables too much during Whitecoin's PoW.
How is it a scam?  Did the dev leave?  Just like Satoshi did with his 1 million BTC?
A crypto-currency doesn't need a dev-team on top of the pyramid, it needs diversification.
Or is there any malware involved like dafuqcoin?

The dev hid a massive pre-mine in the source code which netted him about $140,000 at the expense of his dedicated community.

ok that sucks...

aaaaaaaand it crashed again  Grin

coming closer though, maybe i can send my coins to an exchange.

Try this:

1. Delete everything. (except the wallet containing your whitecoin of course, backup it on your desktop for example)
2. Install new wallet.
3. Copy your wallet address to a notepad and then exit the wallet.
4. Backup that same wallet.dat.
5. Replace your wallet.dat with the one containing your whitecoin.
6. Startup the wallet again and quickly send 1 whitecoin to the address you just wrote down in notepad.
7. Quickly exit the wallet after you send.
8. Check the explorer in 5-10 min if the address you sent to recieved the whitecoin. If they did, then send the rest Smiley

Here's the explorer: http://cryptexplorer.com/chain/WhiteCoin
Just paste your address in the search bar.

This time i really fixed it!!!
Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

The solution was even simpler than the last attempt.

The problem was that my wallet was not encrypted.
I encrypted my wallet, the blockchain finally downloaded without crashing.
Then i unlocked my wallet for staking without problems.

So guys:

If you have problems with a crashing wallet:
close whitecoin first
1. go to %appdata% or application support  /whitecoin
2. delete the blockchain files
3. reopen whitecoin
4. whilte redownloading the blockchain, encrypt your wallet.
5.  UNLOCK FOR STAKING ONLY WHEN BLOCKCHAIN IS FULLY DOWNLOADED

Case closed, my wallet is fixed  Grin

What people seem to forget is that anyone can join a foundation. Thats how foundations work. As long as you can show you can contribute to the community in a positive way.

Therefore, I really dont understand why some here are against it. It doesnt centralize a thing and it doesnt mean the foundation is some kind of "upperhand" system. Anyone can join you know.. Even you.

Its not some "15 man" illuminati group or something. It just protects, standardizes and promotes Blackcoin.
Havent some of you seen the bitcoin foundation. There are hundreds or even thousands of members.

Foundations are good and not mend to take over control. Some of you..Get over it Smiley

I think it's a bad memory within the crypto-community cause Mark Karpales was a member of the bitcoin foundation.

I don't believe in foundations since then.  It all starts with good intentions but end with insider knowledge on a trade-market
If something goes wrong in the future of blackcoin the foundation members will be informed first so they can cash out before the general public knows the bad news.
That is ILLEGAL.
That's the dark-side of the "we're just doing PR"-foundation.

Hey everyone, just to keep you all informed because I see it's now leaked into the AsiaCoin thread.... heh....

So I've received numerous requests from the AsiaCoin community for help and support from myself and the whitecoin foundation. Naturally, I told them I have my hands a bit full right now. However, throughout the conversation an idea did get floated:

Concept: WhiteCoin was saved and revived because of a community rallying that went outside its own community and into the world at large of crypto. In many ways, we owe a debt to our larger community. But we also owe existing debts to the individuals who helped us save WhiteCoin.

Proposed compromised: I suggested, that if a bounty were gathered by the AsiaCoin community and donated to the WhiteCoin Foundation (specifically to pay our team for work done to date), that it would then be something worth considering in WhiteCoin's best interest.

To make things clear: This is only a proposal. I'd like everyone's opinion on this.

And to be very specific, I would not be taking the lead of AsiaCoin. I would offer them my knowledge and instruction on how to organize as we have, in exchange for a donation to our community. This in the end would not take much of my time at all, because I'd be taking from existing material to help teach them:

- How to properly rally a community
- The different between begin a leader and a pr rep
- Instruction on how to operate a team with a democratic consensus based approach
- Instruction on how to independently verify the work of strangers you don't know over the internet Smiley

To make clear again, if we did this, I would not be taking on a leadership role in AsiaCoin.

I look forward to your thoughts, and thanks very much.

Chris

Tell them you'll help as long as the whitecoin multipool is over 1Gh. They send their miners our way and you'll help organize their recovery.  Once the whitecoinpool dives under 1Gh just ignore them.  Once they have a working wallet they will ignore our multipool.
Win-Win

Fix was easier than i thought.

I removed my original wallet and synced the blockchain with an empty wallet.
Then i replaced the wallet again once the blockchain was completely downloaded.
Now i'm synced again.

still crashing   Sad

Downloaded the new wallet and fixed config file, no luck...   Sad

anybody ideas?

Hmmm...the new wallet hasn't given me any problems. it even found my old wallet.dat by itself and started using it.

if you really can't get it to work the easiest fix is to just put your coins on an exchange, delete everything and just start again with new wallet. it's not worth the headache trying to fix something if it's that messed up.

How can I send coins if my wallet doesn't sync? it needs to be synced first to send coins.
I've tried 20 times, even fresh installs on new computers.  The same error occurs every time at the same block.
My wallet.dat file is corrupt i think.    I have 10 strange transactions below 0 with (N/A) as address, when the wallet reaches these blocks it crashes.  Even with the old wallet it stops updating in the end, it doesn't crash but gets stuck around 17205.

Anyone has experience extracting private keys from a wallet.dat and putting them in a clean .dat file?
