1  Economy / Goods / Ticket to Miami Bitcoint Conference 2021 (Testing the Waters) on: May 19, 2021, 01:09:07 AM
Hi. Testing the waters here. I'm rethinking my trip to the Bitcoin conference in Miami June 4-5. Tickets are currently $1,300 but am willing to let mine go for what I paid, $400.

I'm not active here, but have been around for years. I'm open to escrow. The ticket is in Eventbrite. I cannot transfer, but from what I read I can get it in your email address so you can access it in Event Brite.

Any interest?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [OS] nvOC easy-to-use Linux Nvidia Mining v0019-1.3 on: October 11, 2017, 05:29:52 PM
Hi. I'm having some funny issues. I came back from vacation with my miner still running and am now getting these error messages between finding blocks.

Running v16. I had issues where v19 would just stop mining after 30mins or an hour. I have 6x EVGA 1070 on a Gigabyte MB, sound is disabled on MB. This has been running since late June with no hickup. When I have a power outage it does not auto reboot so I know there was no power event to break anything.

Could this be a MB issue?

Edit: Please note, I've reloaded v16 3 times and ever tried v19 but got a different error. Nothing is overclocked. Using the default oneBash file.

This is repeated for all 6 GPUs.
Code:
GpuMiner cu_k1 failed 6, the launch timed out and was terminated
GpuMiner kx failed 1

v19 Error. Occurs for each GPU.
Code:
CUDA error in func 'search' at line 361 : an illegal memory access was encountered.

How come I don't see the Pastebin option in v0017 of the oneBash? I've downloaded a fresh copy and cannot find it.

Never mind, I'm a dofus. It's in the 2unix file. Is this just one line to implement?

...do you really make more it being converted to BTC right away or mining the coins directly? Anyone with some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My experience it is about the same, without the need to exchange to BTC. I've mined some ETH and HUSH straight to my wallet. I've also spent a lot of time mining for NiceHash. It is nice getting BTC up front and it's simple.

For example, say you mine ZEC for a week and don't exchange for BTC/USD. If ZEC value drops and BTC stays the same you can lose money while mining straight ZEC.

For gigabyte 270 d3

Is audio controller normally disabled from the beg. Or is it always on or?

If you do not disable audio controller, then what happens?

Audio controller is enabled by default.

I'm not sure what happens if it is not disabled, but I'd go ahead and disable it. It's a simple process.

I never could get my EVGA 1070 SC to OC. Is there a trick to this? I've tried every combination of OC posted here over the past 2 weeks and the speed never changed.

First I would try reimaging the USB key.

then if it still isnt working:

press f12 and enter:

Code:
lspci | grep VGA

then

Code:
nvidia-smi
and tell me what it outputs.

Also if you are connecting a monitor directly to the motherboard (don't do this); only connect a monitor the the primary GPU (the one in the 16x slot closest to the CPU).

Thanks for your reply! It didn't work because I didn't have my monitor plugged in correctly. Is there any way to view the memory manufacturer within Linux?

These commands were ran while EWFB miner was running with default clocks.

lspci | grep VGA
Code:
m1@m1-desktop:~$ lspci | grep VGA

I'll have to try out v0016 when I have more down time.

I just swapped mobo so I can mine with 6x GPU. This mobo works with v0015 and I suspect it will work with v0016: GIGABYTE GA-Z270XP-SLI for anyone interested.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [OS] nvOC easy-to-use Linux Nvidia Mining on: June 19, 2017, 09:20:56 PM
Anyone to let me know what could be the possible cause of nvOC not booting up?

Often times I get a black screen and it will stay that way for 15+min. So far, the only possible solution to this problem is to reinstall nvOC on my usb

MOBO asus prime z270p
g3930
nvidia 1070

I have the same CPU so it isn't that. Is your display plugged into the onboard video or the GPU?  Does the MOBO post?

It could be an issue with the USB flash.

I did find some OC numbers my EVGA 1070s like and run stable at: -200/1100, ~29.1 MH/sec ETH.

Thanks again for everything.  Really looking forward to v0016!

I'm having trouble OC my cards. I have 4x EVGA 1070 SC. Am I doing this right?

I could not get it working by setting INDIVIDUAL_CLOCKS="NO" and I set the individual clocks and -200/1100 to 2 GPUs to see if it worked. I'm still getting 26MH/s.

Note: I'm not sure how to check memory type in Linux. I might have Micron memory.

I can get it working on my 1 card W7 rig:

Not sure what you mean, did you set the individual clocks as NO, but you defined the individual clocks?
Please try this first, to see if that shows more performance:
Code:

__CORE_OVERCLOCK=200
MEMORY_OVERCLOCK=800

INDIVIDUAL_CLOCKS="NO"       # YES NO
Did you set POWERLIMIT?

EDIT: Ah sorry, I see the images now.. It looks okay, and should give you the wanted performance. But please try the overall clock settings to see if you get more performance.

I did not set the power limit.

I tried using the original oneBash file only setting the OC values to 200/800 and nothing changes. I can set the values high or low and nothing changes. I don't have full understanding of how these values relate to the EVGA tool. I see on my W7 rig, the memory clock = 4322MHz and gpu clock = 1987MHz.

Does setting MEMORY_OVERCLOCK=800 like setting 'MEM CLOCK OFFSET=+800? Do you have any reading material on this? I cannot find anything to help me.

Anyhow, I'm encountering a new issue when starting the server:

-I get stuck at the Ubuntu login prompt. m1 is selected as a user and I enter miner1 as a password - I don't get logged in, the screen refreshes and I get put back into the login screen.

Any idea what might be causing this? I'd like to prevent this particular issue from happening as I'll be deploying nvOC to multiple servers and getting everything to work automatically would be awesome.

Edit: I have already tried this - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1854250.msg18789262#msg18789262

That is odd. Did you try doing a fresh imaging of the USB drive?

You might can try this to see if Ubuntu will enable auto login for m1: Ubuntu : How to Turn on or Turn Off Automatic Login

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Slower ETH mining (Claymore / GTX 1070) on: June 17, 2017, 12:45:23 PM
This is normal. Your cards are performing as they always have. The difficulty to mine ETH is increasing, therefore the same mining power mines less ETH other time. This will happen with all coins.

Expect the difficulty to continue to increase with time to where you're making 0.1 ETH per month. This will take awhile but it will happen.

tldr; difficulty increased.

Well Im on the cusp of purchasing 4 miners. not cloud mining but basement shit.
What research have you done to help you reach that conclusion that its only a lottery. I would honestly love that maybe you can save me some money.

I'd like to know too. After 85 days if the market doesn't dip my rig is paid for. This is a fun to me, though I do hope not to lose money I put into it.

Didn't see the reply before I posted :-). My only experience is with Nvidia GPUs. I've had no luck ever running AMD GPUs, dating back to 2012...they don't like me.

Hey guys, i would like to hear your opinion - is nvOC good in comparsion to vs ethOS vs Win10 overall?
I'm building a lot of rigs, currently operating by Win10 but i would like to swap some of them for Linux-based OS, to gather data on performance on all OS.
How do you think - Is it a good idea?

Thanks

Hey. I don't have much experience. But if you have any kind of 16GB USB drive you can have it bootable in <30 min to try out on one of you rigs. It'll boot in a few minutes and start mining.

I'm not sure if it works with every Mobo/CPU configuration out there, but it works with all the GPUs. Me thinks.

Give it a go :-)

First off thanks for all the help thus far. But I am running in to a problem and would really appreciate it if someone could give me a helping hand.

So initial I had 5x 1070 2 connected via risers and 3 connect directly via the motherboard. I then bought some more risers so I could connect all of them via risers and someone suggested to do a fresh install whenever doing any hardware changes so I did that. However, now regardless of what configuration and the way I setup the gpus either the original with some via the motherboard and some via risers or all of them on risers it is only picking up 4 out of the 5 gpus. Any troubleshooting suggestions I tried look through to see if anyone else had this issue, but couldn't find anything that worked. Also I have tried multiple fresh installs on a few USB drives. Once again thanks in advance!

What motherboard are you using?

I am upgrading to a 6x PCIe mobo next week so I hope to not run into this issue?

I am currently using the Asus Prime Z270-A

1. Will the new cards work if you run 2 old ones with the 2 new ones?
2. Did you follow what is in the OP?

Quote
If you are using an ASUS PRIME Z270-A; ensure 'Above 4G Decoding' is enabled in the bios.  Also ensure PTP aware OS: is set to 'Not PTP Aware' in the bios.  Finally, ensure you 'Clear Secure Boot Keys' in the bios.

Also, I've read that PCIe setting needs to be set to Gen1. It sounds like it could be a simple BIOS issue.

Really awesome tool. I like how I can see the forecast for my ROI.

Maybe a suggestion for a FAQ on setting up wallet. ETH and BTC is super simple to setup. What I'm struggling with is setting up a transparent address for my ZEC/ZEN. Using Eleos v0.0.7 I create the address but it is not shown in the addresses list. Will it show there when a transaction comes through? Eleos is 100% synced.

Thank you for the great OS! I will send BTC to the address in oneBash on my first payout to thank you. Assuming that is yours.

I asked about the mobo yesterday. I went ahead and ordered it and will post back next week if it works. Currently I'm running the GIGABYTE GA-B250M-Gaming 5 and it works perfectly. I did not find this thread until I ordered the parts, or I would have ordered the Gaming 3 you have in your OP.

v0015 has come along way and all my current ZEC NVIDIA builds are on nvOC Linux.

Press on to improve nvOC.... with AMD cards out of reach and NVIDIA breaking into the crypto world with GTX-1060 mining edition, great upside for nvOC especially ZEC, ETH and ccminer forks.

Can you help me out? I want to mine ZEC but am worried I will not get the profits. I have the Windows Eleos v0.0.7 wallet installed. ZEC and ZEN both have a sync status of 100%. When I go to receive tab and click new transparent address, an address is shown but it is not listed in my addresses tab. This happens on both ZEN & ZEC. Will this address not be shown until I receive ZEC/ZEN?
