I found a site once that had a ridiculous price for an ultimate key, I contacted Microsoft's fraud department and asked if the site was legit, got a reply back saying they'd check into it and then a day later a reply saying no problems, bought the license and saved the emails...
any chance you remember the site name?

I'm on my mobile right now but I'll look through my emails later today...

With an .edu email address you can get a free version of win2k8r2 server along with a ton of other Microsoft software from dream spark... I can sell you a valid .edu email that works with dream spark for 1 bitcoin
haven't thought about that!
thanks man, I may buy this email address soon Smiley

6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Q] Selling bitcoins using PayPal - What's the risk? on: September 09, 2012, 10:13:17 PM
The issue is PayPal rules are arbitrary and a scammer is going to know how to use them to his advantage is both directions.

For example if a noob pays by gift using a PayPal account with a balance he likely is screwed.  So never pay by gift (you can also get banned simply making too many gift payments).

Oh so gifts are safe to accept right?
No absolutely not.  A scammer is going to be more than willing to pay by gift using:
a) a hacked account - auto reverse you lose
b) claiming his account is hacked - auto reverse you lose
c) a $0 balance PayPal account where tx is funded by CC - charge back on CC -> reverse on PayPal.

PayPal requires completely and absolute trust because it can be used to scam both ways.  For example FastCash4Bitcoins uses PayPal payouts but you shouldn't use our service unless you already trust us.

Sadly no matter how many times this explained people seem to get scammed.

TL/DR:
Paying by gift to an untrusted persons = dangerous.
Accepting payment by gift from an untrsuted person = dangerous.
Thanks for the explanation man : )
7  Other / Beginners & Help / [Q] Selling bitcoins using PayPal - What's the risk? on: September 08, 2012, 10:06:34 PM
-Seller sold 10 BTC to some guy
-The buyer paid 110$ as a PayPal gift
-The seller withdrew the PayPal funds to his local bank(takes about 3 days)

Is there some hidden risk in this? the buyer can reverse the payment whenever he likes?
8  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.info wallet - how to track my wallet on: September 08, 2012, 09:34:04 PM
the whole point of blockchain.info is to give you an easy access to your wallet without a desktop application and without the need to download the whole blockchain.
Why do you want to use blockchain if you're also using bitcoin-qt?
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoins on Ebay on: September 07, 2012, 11:14:11 AM
I sold over $600 worth via paypal with someone I thought was trustworthy (1000+ post count) but almost a month after the trade it was reversed.
correct me if I'm wrong but you could withdrew the funds from Paypal to your bank account, no?

Seems like they're the only company that have plans about ASICs...
Am I wrong?

I've discovered Bitcoin a few weeks ago, I can't stop researching that subject since then!
I'm a web and desktop developer/programmer(primarily .NET), I would like to contribute to this project with my knowledge and help spreading it.
I'm also interested in mining so I hope I can get white-listed to expend my awareness.

Thanks.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FPGA MINING? on: August 29, 2012, 09:38:23 PM
What's the difference between the FPGAs and the new ASICs that makes them so much cheaper?

Yeah I already have one open with blockchain.info but I would like to have one stored only in my CPU.
I'm using it too, it has very nice and understandable UI
