1  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Possible scam - Royalhash.com? on: October 27, 2015, 02:11:20 AM
So this EV SSL company should have their asses sued off, they assured me it was safe to transact with Royal Hash. I didn't of course, it still screamed ponzi but to have a company assuring people ponzi's are safe to invest in is royal BS.

I was considering investing.

EV SSL SGC verifies our authenticity as well as secures all transactions up to 2,200BTC. Feel free to invest and profit.

and I contacted Comodo and they said the site is fully vetted and verified.

I don't know what kind of bond they'd have to put up to get 2,200BTC in insurance or what the terms are if the company collapses but it "appears" legit.

I think I'll sit this one out though... unless some better reviews appear.

Cheers.

How does the insurance policy work? I didn't know Comodo does insurance. Are there things I could read up one about this?

They don't.

It's complete 100% bullshit. There is no insurance.
An EV SSL SGC certificate costs $500 a year.
By all means play with fire if that's what turns you on and put some dust in this scam, but don't for one minute, pretend it's anything else.

What is this certificate and why does it give anyone any hope in these sort of schemey scams?

I literally wouldn't touch these sort of things with a bargepole.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / AltCoin Experiment. looking for latest CPU only stable code to branch from. on: September 13, 2014, 06:31:52 AM
Hi all,

I have an idea for an alt coin (I know there's a million of them). This one would be limited to a group of friends as an experiment. We all live close together and know the IP blocks of our ISP's. We are not worried about anonymity, as this is just something to try out, and we don't want someone on the other side of the planet mining our coins. we want to limit the usage to certain IP blocks. I suppose we could setup a VPN for members that are travelling.

So we want CPU mining only, ideally only people with a sim card dongle can mine. (we want to limit the miners to certain members).

We're trying to create a club of sorts where speculation of value isn't an issue.

How feasible does this sound and does anyone have any github starting points or tips they can point me in?

I'm a c++ programmer, it's been a while since I've used the language but am really interested in this project.

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks.

5  Other / Beginners & Help / Howdy! Developer here looking to make contacts. php/mysql + c.c. terminals. on: September 10, 2012, 05:43:37 AM
Hi, I'm new here. Really excited about bitcoins, looking for a project to get behind. I'm a c++ developer originally (25 years or so). been doing php/mysql work for the last 10 years. I've written apps for verifone credit card terminals which might be an asset to someone looking to develop a card app for bitcoins.

so anyway, hit me up. I'm looking to make some business/development friends here.
