I think this is borderline good news, but the core problem will be that in the US, you'll still have to treat every transaction as a taxable event and record either gains or losses.

Never, sorry. Bitcoin is new technology and there is always the possibility that something will come up that hurts the protocol.
Don't get me wrong, I love bitcoin, but never can be sure.

If i was desperate i would continue to try and do the service on here but due to it not being allowed and the overload of fuckboys(including your dumbass), I'm definitely not going to bother, not worth my time.
Good call. If you really have an exploit you can make unlimited BTC, once you take down a site a bit they will listen to you as will your detractors on this board. However, DH's points still pretty much apply. Good Luck in your future endeavors. |

Like most of the mods here he is doing the best he can. I would not ask for more. With so many altcoins and so many agendas it has to be difficult. I think he follows the rules of the forum.

I have been a big bitcoinget fan for quite awhile (check the signature!). However, it seems that more and more tasks are requiring you to register with crowdflower. Can you comment on that? Fortunately, videos do not.

Doog has said elsewhere that he does not anticipate re-opening Just-Dice as it would require him re-locating to a different country and he likes it just fine where he is at in Canada. He said he does not miss running Just-Dice.
Perhaps he could sell licenses to the Just-Dice software or sell it outright to another. I don't know if that would impact any Canadian laws or not. Just a thought.
When I saw dicebitco.in running well, attracting a large bankroll, having good customer support, etc. I felt like there was no need for Just-Dice to exist. It looked like DB would fill the position. Then they were caught cheating, and Mateo appeared and went on a streak that would be unlikely even for nakowa to achieve, all the investors left or got destroyed, and I'm left thinking maybe we do need Just-Dice back. I don't need to run it, from a financial point of view, but I like the idea that there's somewhere trustworthy that people can rest their coins and have a reasonable expectation of making a profit. Maybe some of the existing places are trustworthy, but I don't know how to tell any more. As for licensing the software, I think that's kind of missing the point. Anyone can develop equivalent or better software pretty easily. What people need is to be able to trust the site's operator not to run off with their coins, and not to play against them using the server seeds. That "trustability" is not something that can be licensed out. So for the moment I'm invested (a little) in dice.ninja, and contemplating whether to take up one of the many offers I've received from people who seem happy to set up offshore companies that will run JD legally, while I have exclusive control of the server and the day-to-day running of operations. As of right now I'm happy not to have to worry about safeguarding investor funds, or when the next whale attack is coming - but I guess I'll get back into the game at some point. When I first saw this thread I thought that the OP needed to change the title, but seeing this post gives me hope. I think you returning to the "dice" game would be very welcome by almost everyone except maybe the owners of the other dice sites. Thanks for even considering it. I also really appreciate all your posts laying out exactly how operators can cheat players and their investors. Thanks. |

How about not using them at all? I prefer BTC and I hate that I need to calculate back and forth between different denominations.
BTC and satoshi are all you need to know. Yes it is just scientific notation but so few people use the decimal ones other than mili due to drink cans that they are just lost. Bits wont help, hell some people from the USA may think it's half a quarter. |

I think USA as originally envisioned was pretty good except for its allowing slavery. It was set up to avoid the classic democratic problem of the majority abusing the minority (again, except for the obvious slavery issue) and the vote ourselves rich problem.

You can do some online work in the form of tasks over at bitcoinget.com. Will probably take you a couple of hours.
I can echo bitcoinget as a worthwhile way to get some btc to play with. They have videos that pay 1000 satoshi each and are only a couple of minutes long. One issue though is it pays out once per day, so you can get a lot of low value transactions. It would be better if they would let you select which day you wanted to get paid. This "dust" issue is something to look out for as you use faucets. |

Goof around with them to learn about sending, receiving and storing bitcoins. Work to add to your stash! Gamble some if that's your thing. One of the nice things about bitcoin is that you can gamble microscopic amounts of money!

I like paid to click sites such as bitcoinget. They used to pay a lot more, but you can still get a little starter stake for watching videos and such.

Bitcoinget is a pay to click site like many others that are often discussed on the forums, e.g. Bitvisitor. I used to use it a lot and still check in there sometimes. Basically it is like mechanical turk but for bitcoins. Hiki - I don't know what the issue is with you and crowdflower, I've never tried to register but it does look like that more and more tasks require it. At least you can still do videos. |

Hash rate is part of the 51% attack problem.
Which isn't a problem, so doesn't need to be fixed. I think you may be underestimating the dangers of mining concentration. My latest book-mark: How A Mining Monopoly Can Attack Bitcoin- Loss of decentralized trust narrative, inability to differentiate Bitcoin from competing technologies.
- Double-spends against 6-confirmed transactions are certain to succeed.
- Selected miner targeting: Pool can reject any selected block found by any competing miner.
- Selected transaction targeting: Pool can reject any selected transaction and keep it out of the blockchain.
- Selected address blocking: Pool can block Bitcoin flows in or out of selected addresses.
- Transaction Differentiation: Pool can deprioritize certain transactions and rely on other miners to mine them unless a (hefty) fee is attached.
- Fee Extortion: Pool can deny transactions from a particular address unless a (hefty) fee is attached to those transactions.
- Complete denial of service: Pool can ignore and orphan every single block found by competitors, thus stop all Bitcoin transactions.
I think this sums it up nicely. There are lots of things a 51% pool can't do, but there are also a lot of non-armageddon type things that it can. The hacking distributed guys have done a good job laying things out and make a pretty convincing case that bitcoin isn't decentralized if a single entity is at 51%. |
