1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 31, 2018, 04:36:51 AM
Why Bitcoin Matters for Freedom  http://time.com/5486673/bitcoin-venezuela-authoritarian/

It has funny end.

Less than 1% of the world’s population — no more than 40 million people — have ever used Bitcoin. But, according to the Human Rights Foundation, more than 50% of the world’s population lives under an authoritarian regime. If we invest the time and resources to develop user-friendly wallets, more exchanges, and better educational materials for Bitcoin, it has the potential to make a real difference for the 4 billion people who can’t trust their rulers or who can’t access the banking system. For them, Bitcoin can be a way out.

Truth is that all this 4 billions cant use Bitcoin. The other 4 billions can, these can only use Monero.

Not even a minuscule fraction of the 4 billion can use Bitcoin which is why I sold out of Bitcoin into Monero over 3 years ago. By the way Lighting Network will not solve this issue. Just read the LN paper https://lightning.network/lightning-network-paper.pdf page 55 where they talk about 133 MB blocks under very optimistic assumptions just to open and close LN channels.

Wait wait...  The people in the other 4 billion that can use BTC, can't?  But they can use Monero...?  I don't get it.  Lol.

His point is that Bitcoin is technical limited to be used by 4 billion people and  Monero is not.

because of the blocksize.

I think so. The second lay similar to Lighting could scale the network further.

it seems that "emerging" countries with falling fiat currencies are now a good support for crypto markets:

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-08-28/bitcoin-new-safe-haven-trade

"Crypto currencies are attractive to individuals in less developed economies for a few reasons:

Transaction costs are the same as gold.  BTC's higher price volatility is offset by gold's higher conversion fees
Liquidity favors BTC
BTC only requires access to the internet
Easier to transport and hide $20,000 of BTC offsets gold's bulkiness"

this applies to Monero as well.

Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum or Monero.
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bittrex is better? on: April 27, 2018, 11:35:54 AM
I worked on bittrex at the start but as they close the new registrations the volume goes down so I joined Binance and I really enjoyed trading on binance as all new people joining binance and volumes are also good so they are adding many new coins to binance also so because of that new people are joining them and they are going great.

I used Bitterex for the last few years. It seems it is OK for some altcoins.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The $20,000 Startup Mining Question on: February 04, 2018, 02:28:46 PM
i cant believe the amount of these threads. Try getting one miner and setting it up. Then take it from there.

I started from 1 miner and have 5 now.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash/BTG GPU Miner v12.6 (Windows/Linux) on: January 26, 2018, 08:33:22 PM
I think the ZEC miner is already very efficient.

And how Fiji and 17.xx.x drivers, bad support 560? I'm waiting for version 12.7
I guess, because just a very few ppl mine with 560s, because they are not so efficient, so worthless to bother with it.

they are not so efficient as it is not optimized miner
They are not so efficient because they are weak. The bad thing is that 560s are the only available cards atm in stores, but ppl shouldn't really buy them for mining.

Why 7850 is more effective?
I don't think it is more effective, but that is an old card...

7850 - 12.6 - 160sol (1050/1350)
560 - 12.6 - 140sol (1216/1750 timing mod)

560 all parameters should be more effective

The 7850 is an old card, so it is cheaper.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Give me a coin that will easily go 3x on: November 21, 2017, 08:24:39 PM
I suspect KNC will probably go 3x when their exchange launches in february, other than that I'm holding some herocoin that I earned through signature campaign, right now price is pretty low and I would not be surprised to see it shoot up in the early parts of 2018. These are both projects I'm confident will go up but not that will be able to go 10-100x as some others may.

How about Bitcoin Cash. It has risen 3 times in the past month.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.6 (Windows/Linux) on: November 16, 2017, 06:57:23 PM
I always get this problem whenever i start to mine, been trying different pools but i still get the same error can anybody tell me how to fix this.
I dont know what "OpenCL error" this is my first time mining.

Just reduce the clock frequency of GPU0
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 25, 2017, 08:16:05 AM
Byteball may be in its last downtrend leg to $123, almost a full retrace when it was first listed at Bittrex at $89. Some may start accumulating along this price range.

If there will be more usage and development, the current price is low.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 23, 2017, 06:02:53 AM
THis coin almost seems like it's tied to a USD value.. I cant think of another reason why it's dropped x10 the price since a few airdrops ago.   Oh well, just gonna hold onto them for a while.

Maybe because of the reducing of the airdrop value?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 29, 2017, 04:51:04 PM
Surest sign that Byteball bottomed out already. Imagine it is more costly to link your btc addresses to your byteball address than to straight up buy from an exchange.

I don't think it reached bottom yet, you can quote me after the 4th, my guess is that's when the bottom will hit.
before the 4th it will be at the lowest possible breakout price
so be prepared for a byteball bagholder below as much

I think the price is consolidating at the moment. After some good news, the price will rise again.

whales in control of a huge percentage suck balls in the end.  Cry

If you buy a lot, you can also control a lot.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2017 and WHY !!! on: August 30, 2017, 08:52:54 AM
Many coin are here with nice predictions and speculations, we have XMR, ETH, LSK, KMD ......

OP you should consider having maybe pool added with some coin that are here the most and maybe we could see good speculations or predictions on some alt in this year. Most of users here will be pleased to see this.

I agree with Azguard, this should be well coordinated, not that any jack will just come and drop name of the coins they are bagholding to dump on the market
Good choice, I'd add BTC (yeah, not an altcoin actually), Byteball, Augur, Litecoin and STRAT and maybe even ZCL and Peerplays (coming May).

Here are my guesses for 2017 in order of (stability)*(possible-value-increase):

01. BTCitcoin BTC
02. Monero XMR
03. Peerplay PPY
04. Ethereum ETH
05. Komodo KMD
06. Lisk LSK
07. Byteball GByte
08. Stratis STRAT
09. Litecoin LTC
10. Augur REP
11. ZCash Classic ZCL[/b]

Mark my words, guys. Or don't. :p
So anyone remember my post from MARCH?
Well, I believe my predictions were pretty spot on, except maybe for ZCL which I would now replace with the ZenCash fork..
Oh and peerplays is still on the list, great things to come imo. Most other coins have increased significantly so far. Except for Komodo, which could make an other 5x by the end of 2017, I don't expect any wonders from the other crypto-assets I mentioned above in the near future. Maybe an other double for XMR and Byteball.

Anyway, here are some more interesting projects:

Ethereum Classic ETC
Signatum SIGT
ZenCash ZEN
Tezos XTZ (not on markets yet)
Exscudo EON (not on markets yet)

Not investment advice, just my biased view on the current market.

I will choose similar coins, ETH and ZEC.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2017 and WHY !!! on: August 28, 2017, 09:05:09 AM
Factom. It is still fairly low in terms of market cap and it has some big real-world applications and some really solid backers. It made some big gains over the weekend as well. I think it could easily 5x its value within 6 months.
I believe in 1-3 years the price of Factom can reach to 0.1 BTC/FCT. Because potential of Factom has confirm by Bill Gates and the road map of Factom very clearly. Although, the value of Factom in current still cheap but I think buy now is best time for long term.

The bitcoin Cash could also be good. It has strong community support and owned by many people.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.5 (Windows/Linux) on: August 05, 2017, 03:41:17 PM
Just buy a Gold EVGA PSU, warranty 5 years or more.  Run it 90% its less efficient though - you are losing maybe 5% efficiency - but it won't explode.  I have a PSU with 10 year warranty, another 7 years, most are 5...So if they pop well, that sucks because of downtime, but I get a replacement.  Only buy high quality PSU.  check johny guru.  even evga has PSU's I wouldnt buy.

That is right. I also just use Platinum PSU now.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 27, 2017, 05:03:11 PM
100 witnesses would require too much much work for an individual to investigate about each witness and determinate if he can be trusted or not.

the more witnesses - the slower the network, the speed of the txs is the main reason to build the network with (limited amount of) trusted nodes/witnesses

If we have fast CPU or network connection, is that a problem. I heard Dash has many more than 12 nodes (witness?)
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8 pin to dual 8 pin (6+2) on: June 22, 2017, 09:14:15 AM
I must give juice to 4x 1080ti. I only have 2 of those 8 pin to 8 + 8 (6+2) per PSU. I have another rig 6x 1070 on a corsair PSU.

The rig I want to place the 4 1080ti is a EVGA PSU... Somehow the companies hate each other and even though the cables are same family, they won't fit.

Now my question is, if I cut or use sandpaper to modifiy the shoes that won't go into the PSU, would that be a big nono ?

I tried to find cable to buy separately, they seem to sell them only in complete set, which is almost $100.

You can use the 2X molex to 1 PCIE 6 pin. It should be able to deliver 75W. Do not use the 8  pin to 8 + 8 (6+2), which cannot deliver 150W+75W

get latest bios

enable 4G decoding/cryptocurrency mining option

get on card one by one then

I tried that and it is working for me.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSA - DO NOT Start Mining Alt Coins!! DANGER! on: June 01, 2017, 07:20:01 AM
Shocked If you're just contemplating on starting to GPU mine, do not, I repeat do not start!

It's like a disease has taken over me! I find myself constantly reading more and more, every spare minute - not just that -

I can't stop buying GPUs and parts!!!!!

The worst part is, I keep buying GPU's and I don't even have any power to run them, I'm pretty much maxed out till I can get a panel upgrade! I'm already probably drawing too much, 100A main and I'm using 3 rooms 20A each room... Help me!!!!!!!

RX 470's just sitting there doing nothing, 1070's and 1 baby 1060 that will probably never see a motherboard again, all abandoned like little orphans!

I will help. Please PM me and I will take all those off your hand so you can have your life back.

I will do the same.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Eth + Decred on: May 09, 2017, 05:26:00 PM
I have the latest Claymore Miner (v9.3) and as mentioned it already worked.. somehow, without any obvious reason, it does not work for DCR on my machine anymore  Huh

Just reinstall the drivers.
