well they definitely don't look like a scam. so 99% that they are legit. And i think, there wont be big delays Looks like guys from Moscow got directly access to china's facility that made ASICS for BFL (lol). 65nm, 5Gh .... @ailikun i LOVE your signature  .

So I am thinking about buying one those thermometer guns with a laser pointer for measuring card temps, and probably annoying my cat. ... Any advice on what to search for, what to avoid...or a good brand maybe?
To measure exact core temp you need to use hardware thermo-sensor on chip. All another ways will give you incorrect reading.

The plan seems to be simple: Have a good salary, run of of money, go out of business.
Lets assume, Big Free Loan (BFL) business plan was: 1. Take max of possible moneys for preorders. 2. Move moneys to BTC at (1BTC/$10-) rate. 3. Wait for 1BTC/$200+ rate. 4. Now, each $1- mln become $20+ mln. Resume: 1. We will not work FAST at now, because we ALREADY got our moneys. 2. To success leave business we will simple wait, and (may be) do something slow (we have no motivation to work at now). 3. May be we will do something like that Dev.Rev.of.Jala (who care?). So, 100% signed

Check your "common" wire. I am sure, it is burned/disconnected from main cable. In this case, all your equipment, connected between 2 different phases become to connect serial, and divide voltage between 2 different phase wires. So voltage will be float in case of power consumption between this two set of equipments, connected serially.
I am sure 99% this is your case. It's frequently happening for old old buildings.
P.S. Be careful, because voltage between 2 phases higher then normal 1 phase voltage (by ~1,7 coefficient), so you can easy damage your equipment.

I think, all understand that's units "made on legs"  It's really nothing vs **K preorders. BFL, please show us technology, capable to assemble/test/ship 1K units / day. Then i'll "brake my forehead by ground" while made unstoppable regards  Until that - it's old Benny's SHOW.

how many layers this PCB should be? I suppose 4 layers, one would be the GND?
Actually, cheap 2x layers PCB - more then enough. 2 layers, is it easy to copy? Yes, easy. Lot of China facility's will be happy to do 10*10 cm2, 2 layers PCB for .... $0,6...1,0 each with QTY of 100x It's standard price. Hi Alex, you mean to say bring the exact pcb to china and ask them to produced exactly the same and pcb costs is only $0.6 to $1.00? wow that is quite a bit of saving.. compares to the BOM . I believe AlexBBB is stating that if you provide the PCB design file(EAGLE file, etc) then you can have it reproduced cheaply. When Avalon releases their designs you will be able to hand over the PCB design files and have them mass produced if you wanted. Same goes for this project if they are open sourced. @Gomeler, tnx for comment. Exactly. Btw, if you have no .PCB file yet, just only PCB Boards to be copyed - it is easy problem. Just little additional payment for produce .PCB file from real PCB Board.

Actually, they can made 5 gh units (1 chip on ea. pcb) by use old PCB's (they says that ASIC chips are Ok). All they need - connect all VoltageConverters on PCB parallel via additional shottky diodes 1N5819 or cheeper ($10 for 1000 pcs.) They CAN do it now, but question is.... why they won't
