1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where can I exchange UKash for Bitcoin? on: November 20, 2012, 06:17:44 PM
In future I can exchange Ukash vouchers for a 10% fee from mtgox average.
I am not sure what other people charge, but I know I am fast and reliable Smiley

Edit: Seems I am cheaper than bitexchange.biz on ukash -> btc so in future please consider pming me and I can help!

Hey projects,

Thanks very much for that, I will definitely take you up on the offer.

I used bitexchange.biz to try and exchange my UKash voucher about 24 hours ago but I've heard absolutely nothing back - at best an unreliable operation or at worst a potential scam.

Cheers again, I will be in touch soon!
2  Economy / Currency exchange / Bitexchange.biz - anyone used them successfully? on: November 19, 2012, 09:59:21 PM
As per my subject - has anyone actually used them and has feedback they'd like to share?
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where can I exchange UKash for Bitcoin? on: November 19, 2012, 09:27:10 PM
I normally use Mercabit, who are extremely reliable, but Alex is away until the 30th so I need a temporary vendor.

I've looked at bitexchange.biz and euromoneychange.com, but neither have any feedback to show they are reliable.

http://bitexchange.biz/ is an advertiser on my site, and I've not used them as I am in the US but I know they are spending a lot of money on advertising right now as they are one of the biggest and main advertisers for the operation fabulous ad group, they've spent over 3btc on just my site lately.

I don't think it would make sense for them to screw you out of ~3btc when they've spent many more times that on advertising, and if they were screwing people I think it would generate a lot of talk on the forums.  For ~3btc right now I'd highly doubt you'd have any problems.

Taken the plunge and attempted to process my voucher through bitexchange.biz. I've not yet received any email confirmation, however the auto message said to allow 24 hours processing. I'll soon find out if they're a scam or not.

I was slightly concerned that they seem to trawl the "newbie" forum promoting their business...

Quote
UKash vouchers may be redeemed with merchants where this payment voucher is accepted. This includes Bitcoin exchanges Mercabit.eu and VirWoX.
Funds may be added to a CashU account using a UKash voucher. Some bitcoin exchanges, such as Bitcoin Nordic, accept CashU payments for the purchase of bitcoins.

Thanks Stephen, I considered Bitcoin nordic but the transfer of Ukash again into CashU seemed too convoluted for a lazy sod like me.

I've now delved into the unknown and processed my voucher through bitexchange.biz...we will see what if anything happens.

How much are you looking to exchange?

Not much, I've got a £20 Ukash voucher, so looking for about BTC3 give or take.

EDIT - got my rates mixed up, about BTC2.10 I'm looking for. 3 was a bit optimistic!  Smiley

I've used this service twice and the process is quick and reliable!

Can't recommend this gentleman enough  Smiley

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MtGox Bank Transfer - Secure? on: October 03, 2012, 03:56:05 PM
It's not an irrational fear. Mt Gox has been compromised in the past IIRC. However, at the moment, they are the most trusted exchange out there so, most likely, your information is safe. Stay paranoid though. It will serve you well as you navigate this community.

Wise words.. Not used Mt Gox, did hear about the high profile compromise though.

I used mercabit.eu for my only (so far) transaction and the dude was quick and helpful.

Ha! Brilliant.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Error sending PMs ("You are not allowed to send personal messages.") on: October 03, 2012, 03:50:17 PM
Can anyone explain why this is?

Cheers

As far as I know you need 4 hours on this forum plus 10 post contributions on the site to break out of newbie jail!

What does have to do with sending pms?

No idea, I just know that's how this forum works!

My logged time doesn't appear to move though, which is annoying as I'm waiting to get out of newbie jail.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: September 29, 2012, 04:10:33 PM
Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)

To clarify do you need both 5 postings and 4 hours online continuously?

Thank you for making the restrictions much more reasonable....

Totally agreed!
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: paper bitcoins coming soon on: September 29, 2012, 04:02:15 PM
Hello, I have been playing around with the paper bitcoin generator application on this thread and have some questions...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=98971.0;all

Can't post in that thread as a newbie... Lips sealed

I guess Ill PM the creator...

Interesting idea! Like to see how it pans out in the future!
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: September 29, 2012, 04:01:21 PM
please do so! and get a post Smiley
don't be so negative, the 5-post-4-hour-rule is there for a reason: to get rid of the trolls. NOT to piss newcomers off.

relax take it easy and smile. Cheesy

Mod note:
If you see anyone spamming this thread, please report it. Spam will result in an immediate ban.

Great idea if you ask me! Trolls do nothing but ruin the credibility of forums.

I found Mercatbit very good! Excellent guy to deal with Smiley
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trust No One on: September 23, 2012, 08:03:51 PM
Seriously. Don't trust the exchanges, don't trust online wallet services, don't trust your anti-virus software, and don't trust anybody online.

I recommend that you practice your wallet encryption and recovery a few times with a small number of coins, until you are very comfortable with the process before you try it with the bulk of your savings.

And remember, this is how most bitcoins services get started:

Lot to take on board, but makes sense..
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: September 20, 2012, 01:51:32 PM
Thanks for setting the Bar at a point that a new starter like me is able to reach without spending weeks here first.

SF.

Great idea isn't it mate?

Also kind ensures people have to read up on Bitcoins before steaming in with ridiculous questions!

Awesome community!
