Make the algo KheavyHash and give some value to those Kaspa miners, LOL
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L9 will release in May on: June 04, 2024, 07:53:01 AM
Hehe, I figured that as soon as I made that post Bitmain would make the official announcement.  Nice.
I can't find on their website where the price guessing game is.  Supposedly that started already.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TSMC to begin pilot program at its Arizona on: June 01, 2024, 10:26:25 PM
No doubt that we need these fabs to come to the US, but I can not help but wonder how much special treatment TSMC is getting in the process.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L9 will release in May on: June 01, 2024, 08:39:00 AM
Well, May just ended and no mention of the L9 on Bitmain's website.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Goldshell KA Box PRO: Setup, Performance, and Profitability on: June 01, 2024, 08:27:27 AM
I'm interested in talking about profit. On your website I can buy this ASIC with a power supply for $2670. Current profit is $5.66 per day at a price of 5 cents for electricity. If the network hashrate does not grow and the coin price does not fall, then the payback period is 472 days. That's a lot.

Yeah and that ROI calculation is based on variables you know to be true at this moment.

My limit for an ASIC on the super high end is somewhere around $1600 to $1800 (not including shipping/tax).  On average I wouldn't spend more than $800 on these machines no matter how profitable anyone thinks they could be.  Too many external variables that can't be controlled.  The more people buy the more the difficulty rises.  More people mining also means less rewards per person per block in pooled mining.  To make matters worse, these manufactures are boosting the prices as the BTC price rises.  The Kaspa ASIC prices are simply absurd.

A reasonable price for this specific Kaspa ASIC should be around $400. Anyway, don't blame the resellers Cheesy, that 2.5k+ price tag is from Goldshell themselves.  Blame the suckers who shell out $32k.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GoldShell miners look good, but are they reliable? on: June 01, 2024, 08:03:08 AM
I currently have 3 of the LTC/DOGE III boxes (700Mh/s @400w).  Had 2 of them for more than a month that I picked up for $750 each and just had another one come in today that I overpaid for (about $950).  Was mining with the first two at Nicehash for some weeks.  I am currently mining the new PEPE with all three for the moment to load up (I don't want to make the same mistake I made with DOGE).

So far it's been good.  They are compact, use little power, and don't make too much noise.  As far as built quality goes, they are better built than what they appear to be in pictures.  The casing is surprisingly thicker than what you'd expect and the miners do have some weight to them.  Not as heavy as an S19k, but it 'feels' well built.  I love this format/design a lot more than the current over powered Kilowatt hungry Bitmains.  It seems these day's Bitmain isn't innovating at all.  They are just stuffing the machines with as many ASIC chips as they can to boost the hash rates, without regards to power consumption.  Seriously 4000 watts for a single miner? Wow.

They do however accumulate a ton of heat and are very sensitive to it. The fans are not as super powered as the Antminers, but that's not an issue for me.  I have them somewhere where it's naturally cool this time of year and extremely cold in the winter.  Haven't run into any issues with them.

I like these little boxes so much that about 2 weeks ago I ordered 4 of the Kadena miners since they were so cheap and I didn't mind throwing away some BTC.  I figured I may just mine and hold some of that so when the pump and dump part of the scheme comes around, maybe I can get a little lucky.  Then I ordered another two LTC/DOGE III boxes at a nice discount a few days ago.

Is it just me or did PEPE disappear from the list of coins?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Something feels off about Kaspa on: May 27, 2024, 12:20:14 PM
Kadena maybe looks like it is/was a scheme of the same kind, but that one looks to have run it's course.   Or perhaps I'm being too much of a skeptic.   Grin
Some of the ASIC's are super cheap... tempting, but no.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🐸[ANN][PEPE] Pepecoin Layer 1 Blockchain - One Coin. One Community. - v1.0.0 on: May 27, 2024, 02:33:52 AM
What underlying software are you using for the Blockexplorer, looks nice, one of the best I've seen.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: May 27, 2024, 02:21:08 AM
This is still the best coin ever!
Agreed too. Because one of the best thing for any coin or token is the transaction fee. If the fee is low then everything is good and the community support of the token is very high and the network is not like others. Since when I knew dogecoin, I have not heard or seen any network issue. Though it is not increasing fast like others but it will s one is r the trusted and reputable token I'm the ecosystem.

I really thought Zetacoin was going (and wanted) to be what Dogecoin became, but the idiots who took over screwed that up by forking it.  So yes, I was once a hater who's starting to warm up to Dogecoin.

Hmm..

Bitcoin is no longer censorship-resistant, and mining centralisation endangers its security too. It's time to fix that.

If he really cared about centralization he would have published the source code to his pool.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After the Ethereum ETF(s), which altcoin will be next? on: May 27, 2024, 01:13:59 AM
Ethereum really shouldn't have gotten an ETF.  BTC made sense, but not ETH, not anything else.  XRP, as much as it's more of a reasonable choice than ETH, and as much as I would like to see XRP, I just can't see any reason why they would.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Something feels off about Kaspa on: May 27, 2024, 12:19:19 AM
I'm back from a long break from altcoins and crypto in general.  During which I was occasionally checking up on BTC news, but didn't really follow anything else.  Recently got back into it after some curiosity.  There is one altcoin that pretty much came out of nowhere that's making a lot of noise. Instantly I'm super skeptical about it after only reading into it very lightly.  Seeing how Bitmain and so many other ASIC makers would suddenly have an ASIC for it (so much quicker than I've seen for any other altcoin).  The coin itself has no utility, it's not any any major exchange, and isn't really that ground breaking, and looks way too 'polished' from a marketing perspective.  I doubt that an ASIC maker would take such a risk on it.  Then, I see the exorbitant price gouging on these ASICS that probably cost no more than a few hundred dollars to make.

I think it's a well thought out scam (for lack of a better word) or what ever you call it.  I highly suspect that some shadow corporate entity, perhaps related to Bitmain is pushing this.  Let me explain my "conspiracy theory"  Wink

- The entity drives/sponsors the development of a new altcoin/blockchain, gathers some open source community support.  Ultimately, the majority development is fully driven by those employed by the entity.  Many 'community' members are actually employees.
- This same entity is developing an ASIC chip behind the scenes very early on, no doubt at the same time of the project's conception.
- The entity sets up multiple new shell companies "to build" ASICs (all based in China of course), that appear to be independent of each other, but are actually owned/operated by the same.
- Once enough people jump on, they announce the ASICs and start selling them.
- However, the entity has already been mining with the ASICs, and suddenly the hash rate rises due to more ASIC's getting turned on.  Yet no one who's pre-ordered has one in possesion.
- The ASIC's go on sale at insanely high prices.
- Meanwhile, the entity continues to turn on more of their own ASICs
- At the same time, the entity is already announcing their next more powerful ASIC, well before anyone received the one they just pre-ordered.

It doesn't take many brain cells to see what's happening.  I doubt any serious crypto mining operator (what they call the "big boys") is investing in Kaspa ASICs.  The insane prices of almost $32k for a machine that costs a few hundred dollars to make just doesn't add up.

This is targeted towards the individual who's got a few ASIC's at home or hosting, also happens to be sitting on some BTC/$$$, and is very easily manipulated by FOMO.  These 'suckers' shell out $32k or more for one or more of these ASIC's, being fooled into believing that 'big boys' are mining Kaspa.  Thinking that Kaspa is somehow this future solution to transactions, crypto, etc.

Bitmain (which I am almost sure) or whoever 'owns' them is somehow related to this, and they are making a killing.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZET] Zetacoin - SHA256 - Upgrade to 0.13.2 (Segwit) on: August 18, 2020, 06:53:02 PM
Nice, Zetacoin is still running.  Even though there have been no new reference node/wallet releases, the existing one is still the best working version.

These are instructions on how to setup your own Zetacoin node. You need to download and install FreeBSD (https://www.freebsd.org/where.html).  There are countless guides on how to get a copy up and running.  The easiest is to spin up an Azure or AWS instance.  If you are not into that, then download the pre-built virtual machine for VMWare or Virtualbox.  Really, just do a search for how to install FreeBSD.  A 50 GB volume size is more than enough. Once you have a copy of FreeBSD running on your server continue below.

  • Install the Zetacoin node:
Code:
pkg install -y zetacoin-daemon zetacoin-utils

  • Setup node password in zetacoin.conf
Code:
edit /usr/local/etc/zetacoin.conf

  • Enable Zetacoin:
Code:
sysrc zetacoin_enable="YES"

  • Start Zetacoin:
Code:
service zetacoin start

If you require a node to bootstrap from, use zetacoin.securepayment.cc

It's normal, your one of millions competing for blocks.  With all those people stacking blocks you are going to run into conflicts.

and yet, i get the feeling that several ppl are trying to manipulate the market negatively, to gain a few extra coins perhaps?

No, this is not about that.  I'm upset because I had miners putting in several amounts of GH/s that was fully wasted.
    19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: January 26, 2018, 05:06:02 PM
what's a bit worrying to me, is the many people who got in around 1200, shit their pants now and may cash out once it gets back there. probably going to be a tough resistance around 1300 to break once we get back there.

Recent events have got me thinking about what the actual intentions of VERGE are.
The decision to use libraries/technologies that are limited to a specific platform leads me to believe that VERGE is more so for the financial gain/benifit of the developers rather than mass adoption of a privacy coin.
    20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: January 26, 2018, 09:52:09 AM
Hardfork was poorly executed and the latest version of the wallet requires specific libraries (libseccomp, libcap) that are only available on Linux.
You need to give exchanges and pool operators a clear schedule and ample amount of time (months) not days or weeks to prepare for a hardfork.

I hope someone can help me figure out how to build the new wallet on platforms other than Linux that do not support seccomp and libcap.
