1  Economy / Speculation / Re: All alts going crazy, people are fed up!!!! on: January 27, 2016, 05:50:27 PM
Look at http://coinmarketcap.com/

Lots of money pouring into alts due to this ridiculous blocksize debate.

Needs to get fixed soon.

your reasoning is a bit off.
i am not saying blocksize debate had 0 effect. but i am saying it is not the main reason.

these pumps and 100%-200%-500% increases is nothing new in altcoin market. it has always been like this.

in coinmarketcap.com just click on the charts and set the time-frame to all (more than a year) you will see that the #pump pattern keeps happening every now and then in each coin.

Yep, I really don't think very many people are actually freaked out by the block debate. Maybe a few noobies who have only been in bitcoin for a few months, but nobody with perpective should care.  I've been holding and watching the charts nearly even days since summer '13. I'm not worried in the slightest. Trade volume is a bit lower than I like but it's been that way since the drop from 1k, nothing new. This is 2016, been waiting for this year since I bought my first coin. Popcorn is popping...
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: $2k in january on: January 27, 2016, 12:54:32 AM
$2k? Still @80% discount, OP! Buy buy buy!

I've got 6 bitcoins and I would love to sell them to you.
Because you seem to be a nice guy, you get another 50% discount on that 80% discount.
So what do you think?

If that's 80% off 2k, that's 400. And 50% of that is 200. If your lookin for a buyer, I'm here bud.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fork fights hurt us all on: January 19, 2016, 05:10:09 PM
What do you think? I personally think all of this fighting makes Bitcoin really scarey to many investors and potential users, the idea of people on the internet fighting could change the way your digital money works or how much it is worth isn't exactly what everyone had in mind.

Actually I think it helps us. Bitcoin was made to be changeable it it became important, we are trying to figure out if it is important yet. A small dip in price is not a big deal... I've been holding coins for nearly 3 years now. Didn't sell on the ramp up, or the ramp down.

All this is actually doing in my opinion is building a base. It's going to take off again soon.  I really don't care anything able these small details, to me all that matters is that bitcoin matters to so many people we can have passionate fights about it. It's that valuable and interesting now.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: July 20, 2016, the block halving date, what will the price be? on: January 13, 2016, 01:50:14 AM
I'm predicting 380 at the day of halving after a few day run up from the high 200-low 300 range.
In the days after we risk falling down to around 120 because of all the disappointment and panic caused by that.
Price should have doubled too! Angry! Sell! Stoopid bitcoonz
If the price reduce on the block halving miners will not be able to pay the bills and most of them will turn off their machines.

Yep, causing a slow collapse of the entire network...
Confirmations will take forever and the network security will plummet. People will lose trust in the system and sell even more, and the spiral continues down.
Yeah it will cause the entire bitcoin network to collapse if the miners quit when the difficulty is high.

I'm pretty sure people don't just turn off their equipment the exact moment the profits pity becomes 0. Many know that bitcoin is volital and will mine at a lose expecting a price rebound.

Even if half of all miners turned off at the same time it would make little difference, and a huge number of people would pool gpus if it actually became a problem for more than a hour or 2.

lol gpu, there is no way gpu will enter in play ever, the diff is 100B, the diff need to be 10M-100M for a gpu to be worth it, i was mining with my gpu at that range

there is a whole 3 order of magnitude, basically you need far less than 1 peta, not gonna happen when 1 single farm can reach 70 peta already...
I understand it's not worth it, I'm saying that some people don't care about the few dollars it costs to add hashing power to something they care about. I think if a few botnets and 1,000 or so people all did it just to help secure the network for the 2 weeks

6  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: January 11, 2016, 08:46:30 PM
Hey guys,

I just spoke to a guy over chat who told me his plan was to get 100 BTC, wait for the price to reach $5k per BTC and retire after that. Since he lives in a third world county, that might be possible for him. I know this is a simplification of the problem but I d like to know what s your plan. How many BTC is your goal, at what price and what happens once you reach that goal. After all, we have all been involved in a dream, why not dream it a bit more.  Grin

My plan to get rich via bitcoin started as a miner, bought a knc mercury, I never rio'ed in btc, but in cash I did. Used some of the mined coins to buy Christmas and plane tickets for my girlfriend an I to visit her family out of state. After the knc miner was nearing the end of profits, I decided to cancel my Internet because the only reason I had it was to mine. I GAVE the mining rig to a friend to mine an get involved with.

Now my plan is to sell goods and services for bitcoin. I opened a head shop and sell glass an other headshop stuff for bitcoin in my home town.

I expect that the 5 an 10 dollar pipes I sold an continue to sell for btc to return a excellent profit since I'm the one producing the items I'm selling.

My goal is to put a large down payment on a house in btc, or if I'm very lucky to buy a house outright in btc sometime before 2020.

I disagree that the price will go down as a whole.  The halving will make the price go down, but I think the price will be the same compared to a whole and the price will continue to raise.  There are to many store owners out there who are looking to start accepting BTC and when doing so, and this interest will continue to raise.

I agree. I just opened a head shop in oregon, called Local Heads, and we accept bitcoin. Ive got a big ol' BTC logo in green and orange on our front door.    A few customers have been excited as heck, most dont know about it but some do. thats way better than two years ago.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin 'real money' to you? on: December 22, 2015, 04:53:28 PM
Yes bitcoin is real money to me and I accept it for any purchase in my store located in junction city oregon. Likely the first in the city if not county, but we are a start.

What kind of store is this Sir? Wow that is a good start. More and more shops that accepts bitcoin as payment. Surely bitcoin will be more known once they see those posters or stickers that are in your front door.  Grin

We are a locally hand made store. Kinda like a head shop but we don't sell any tabacco. I'm building a thread in the market place and I hope to make my services visable and available to anyone over 18 on this site Smiley   here's a link to our fb page https://www.facebook.com/localheads.junctioncity/

We are still new to everything so don't beat me up too much over the current shortage of pictures and content Smiley

Here is the link to our stores Facebook page. I started uploading things with flickr, I'm not sure of the link yet, but it's in the stream "Local Heads" I'll edit with a direct link when I figure that part out. More pictures to be uploaded....

Thank you for being a bitcoiner.

Thank you for the replies, I was basically making sure I wasn't talking in a total void before going forward. I will provide a link to my fb page soon, and work on links to a load of pictures.  Been a bit coined for 2 years, I started as a miner but hardly broke even. Found out quick I want to mine bitcoin via selling goods my friends and I make. Ok,  I'll get to work on that info.

Local Heads is a  store located in junction city Oregon selling locally made handcrafted items such as tie dye, glass pipes, glass pendants, hatpins, patches, etc.

I wanted to announce here that we accept bitcoin for any item in our store. Adoption is coming.
