The WaveCrest announcement to cancel all prepaid VISA cards sent shockwaves through the cryptocurrency industry.

So we’re happy to announce that our business and developer teams have enabled full balance conversion from WaveCrest issued cards back into your secure Wirex bitcoin wallet.

If you have any fiat currency balance (USD, EUR, GBP) on one of the WaveCrest issued cards inside your Wirex account, you can now exchange those funds back into Bitcoin.

On Monday, any remaining card balances will automatically be converted back into Bitcoin.

Yesterday, our partner WaveCrest Holdings, Ltd., which provides our cards, was instructed by VISA to close all of its prepaid cryptocurrency-related and standard prepaid VISA debit card programs. The Wirex card is such a program.

WaveCrest did not provide us with any advance notice of this decision

Your funds are safe!

We’d like to assure you that all your funds are safe. Our team is working around the clock to ensure customer funds are transferred back from prepaid VISA accounts ASAP.

New cards are coming soon

We have been working with a new card issuer for the last couple of months and are close to being able to release our new cards. As part of this changeover, we can provide free replacement cards to all users who already have cards.

Refund for your ending card balance and for any outstanding card loads

We are instructing WaveCrest to ensure all card balances return to our cardholders quickly.

Wirex is offering card order fee refunds for all users who ordered on or after 1 December 2017. You will receive an email providing you with more details on this soon.

Verified users will still be able to buy bitcoin using your local bank card. We will be releasing our new verification process within the next week. Furthermore we will be increasing daily limits to $500 from Monday.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused. We greatly appreciate your support and thank you for your patience. We will soon release an update regarding our new replacement cards.

I checked your issue and figured out that your account was blocked because you have tried to use the unverified card with Paypal.

"Q. I want to link your card to PayPal, how can I do that?
A. Please find the detailed instructions in this article. Make sure your card is verified."

And for now there are only 2 possible ways:
1. Complete verification to unblock your account.

2. Fill the document for the manual card unload. In this case, we return your funds to the Wirex bitcoin wallet and completely close your card. The support agent can help you with this option.

As well, please note  following:

- Do not use capital letters while entering an email address. 
- If you do not receive password reset link please check your spam folder.
- Alternatively, please clean your web-browser history and cookies or try to use another device. 
- If you unable to receive reset password message make sure that your provider didn’t block our email domain

Теоретически конечно возможно зарегистрировать аккаунт на одну из поддерживаемых стран и заказать виртуальную карту. Но на практике это очень сомнительное занятие, потому что верификация будет невозможна. А без неё лимиты очень небольшие: https://help.wirexapp.com/hc/articles/115001824585
Более того, в декабре лимиты по неверифицированным картам будут еще снижены примерно в 2 раза, что сделает неверифицированные карты практически бесполезными и необходимо будет проходить верификацию. Также при использовании неверифицированной карты есть риск блокировки карты со стороны банка, выпускающего карты (WaveCrest) если они заметят подозрительную активность. Для последующей разблокировки и возврата средств также потребуется пройти верификацию. Поэтому не могу рекомендовать и советую дождаться новостей по новым картам.

К сожалению у поддержки, к которой я отношусь, нет доступа к информации относительно точных сроков перехода на новые карты, поэтому мне приходится давать расплывчатые ответы. Как только у меня появятся дополнительные сведения я сразу отпишусь в этой ветке форума.
