I just tried it another USB port and the hash rate went to 62.44gh
Thanks for all your help and Merry Christmas

You are still at default voltage and frequency.  Try bumping up the freq and volt as mentioned above (250 / 800 is good for most people).  Also, use the [ code ] tag for your cgminer cut/paste or the forum does things with the [] commands.  It is also helpful to do widescreen display so we can see accepted shares and HW errors.
Code:
 cgminer version 4.9.2 - Started: [2015-12-23 15:03:51]

Thanks I will try and find the [] commands. I have changed the freq and volt not much change though

Every U3 is different, play with the volt and freq combos until you find one that works best for your U3.  Be sure you're using a good power supply when you start upping the voltage.

I'm only getting this hashrate

Nice !
only getting really low hash rate though what are the best setting I have not put any just trying to find them. Just thought I would see if it worked 1st

 --au3-freq 250 --au3-volt 830
Thks will try

Ahah !!!

Well it looks like a power supply issue.

Try powering it from a standard power supply

those are the types of plugs i use to power up my u3's. plugged into an evga 550w psu.
Thank you to everyone who helped me I bought a power supply today and wired it has you suggested and it worked straight away

If you bought it "new" it should have come with a power brick and USB cable, they are packaged that way from Bitmain.  Don't use the factory psu if you are overclocking, though, they tend to melt down.  Contact the seller and ask them to send it to you or to refund you part of the purchase price since it appears they may not have sold you a new device.

Or get a molex to barrel plug connector and power the U3 with a standard ATX psu (which is what most people do and what is recommended, I use the same psu that runs my S3+ to also power my U3).

I bought it has new from a supplier in Germany from Amazon I'm in Spain and it does say no power supply included but did not see it until it was too late. It did have the cable to power from a ATX psu but did not know until it arrived so I bought a a power brick has the supplier recommended but not worked.

I will go and buy a atx psu tomorrow and try it.

What power supply are you using?  Did it ever hash before?  You may have burned out the factory psu, or it may be dead.

I bought a 12v 6a power supply brick. I only bought the Antminer new from Amazon it arrived Saturday but with no power supply so was told to buy a 12v 6a power supply which I did.

thanks for your help sorry for the questions I thought I was doing something wrong and was getting really frustrated.
I was told by the company I bought it from to buy a 12v 6a supply which I did but will try and find another one will keep you up to date I'm running it on a laptop so what would you recommend
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 21, 2015, 08:12:52 PM
H wrote that he did.

And cgminer sees 1 device:

cgminer -n
[2015-12-20 23:19:40] USB all: found 7 devices - listing known devices
.USB dev 0: Bus 2 Device 2 ID: 10c4:ea60
  Manufacturer: 'Silicon Labs'
Product: 'CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller'
 [2015-12-20 23:19:41] 1 known USB devices

Another question:

Is the fan turning ?
no nothing just the 1 led from usb
11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 21, 2015, 05:38:35 PM
if you're using the cgminer from bitmain website it seems to only recognize 1 antminer u3.
go with the updated version 4.9.2 and it recognizes it fine.
remember that the commands to enter the frequencies and voltages are different from the older versions of cgminer. in 4.9.2 it's different.
I'm only getting 1 led on is there something wrong with the power supply?
I bought it from amazon but was new but no power supply I had to buy one 12v 6a
tried all versions and still saying no devices detected
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 21, 2015, 05:28:08 PM
You should have 2 Red led

1 close to the usb port
1 "opposite"

To the right of the 2nd one is the red led that blink when hashing.
Is it the 2nd LED that is ON or the 3rd one ?

I only have one led on
the one close to the usb
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 21, 2015, 04:51:04 PM
just done that again and get the same

whatever I try still keep getting the same result
no devices detected!
Waiting for USB hotplug devices or press q to quit
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 21, 2015, 03:27:42 PM
just reading the readme it say

ANTMINER U1/U2+/U3 devices

Antminer devices need the --enable-icarus option when compiling cgminer.

Currently the U1/2/3 USB sticks are supported and come up as the following
devices:

ANU: Antminer U1/U2/U2+
AU3: Antminer U3

but it says
\cgminer>cgminer --enable-icarus
 [2015-12-21 16:22:14] cgminer: --enable-icarus: unrecognized option

Sorry I'm I missing something?

Run it from a command line, not from start menu Smiley

when I run cgminer - n
this is what i get

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10240]
(c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

cgminer -n
[2015-12-20 23:19:40] USB all: found 7 devices - listing known devices

Any Ideas anyone please it is frustrating me now

19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 20, 2015, 09:37:26 PM
You're using cgminer 4.9.* ?

You can run

Cgminer -n (to list current devices)
Cgminer --benchmark (to test the device)

You can try reinstalling zadig drivers as administrator maybe.
You have the 2 solid Red LED on your U3 ?

I'm using cgminer 4.9.2 tried a few
reinstalled the drivers no difference and rebooted

tried with cgminer -n seems to see it but close window down

can only see one red led
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 20, 2015, 09:13:09 PM
Bitminter doesn't support the U3

Cgminer will work just fine, but you need to install the zadig driver before, check the post I linked earlier Smiley
I used install the zadig drivers
and tried with cgminer with no luck either getting no devices detected
I don't know what i'm doing wrong
