just reading the readme it say
ANTMINER U1/U2+/U3 devices
Antminer devices need the --enable-icarus option when compiling cgminer.
Currently the U1/2/3 USB sticks are supported and come up as the following devices:
ANU: Antminer U1/U2/U2+ AU3: Antminer U3
but it says \cgminer>cgminer --enable-icarus [2015-12-21 16:22:14] cgminer: --enable-icarus: unrecognized option
Sorry I'm I missing something?

Are you using the CGMiner version from Bitmain?
If you are, the BMSC commands are correct. I'm not on top of the various deprecations, but it did work for me as written! I've run it on Windows 10 with the above, and the Zadig drivers worked fine. Philspain - the --enable-icarus is a flag passed to the configure utility when compiling from source, you need to ensure that you've got a binary that has the U3 support compiled in, or compile it yourself (which I think I'd probably not recommend to you at the moment)

that's a compile commande, not a running command just run cgminer --benchmark to see if it's recognized and hashing then run cgminer and input your pool options

You should have 2 Red led
1 close to the usb port 1 "opposite"
To the right of the 2nd one is the red led that blink when hashing. Is it the 2nd LED that is ON or the 3rd one ?

if you're using the cgminer from bitmain website it seems to only recognize 1 antminer u3. go with the updated version 4.9.2 and it recognizes it fine. remember that the commands to enter the frequencies and voltages are different from the older versions of cgminer. in 4.9.2 it's different.

What power supply are you using? Did it ever hash before? You may have burned out the factory psu, or it may be dead.

I bought a 12v 6a power supply brick. I only bought the Antminer new from Amazon it arrived Saturday but with no power supply so was told to buy a 12v 6a power supply which I did.

If you bought it "new" it should have come with a power brick and USB cable, they are packaged that way from Bitmain. Don't use the factory psu if you are overclocking, though, they tend to melt down. Contact the seller and ask them to send it to you or to refund you part of the purchase price since it appears they may not have sold you a new device.
Or get a molex to barrel plug connector and power the U3 with a standard ATX psu (which is what most people do and what is recommended, I use the same psu that runs my S3+ to also power my U3).

I bought it has new from a supplier in Germany from Amazon I'm in Spain and it does say no power supply included but did not see it until it was too late. It did have the cable to power from a ATX psu but did not know until it arrived so I bought a a power brick has the supplier recommended but not worked. I will go and buy a atx psu tomorrow and try it.
