qoinpro.com gives several coins, and more coins unlock over time (which could be traded to BTC). Not big amounts, but no effort required.

Which sites work good with paypal?
What I ended up doing (being impatient as I am) was buy dogecoin from weselldoges.com, transfer it to Mintpal, trade to bitcoin. Probably better ways though.

What are the odds of mining a block at 90MH/s?

How does it compare to the odds of winning the powerball lottery?

(1 in 175 million)
Someone above said 1 in 4.4 million.

I think having one of those old physical bitcoins would be kind of cool to have, and they're very cheap on ebay. But as mentioned, bitcoin itself is a pretty good gift. Not only can it be immediate money, but it's also an investment that will most likely earn them even more money in the future.

It works great, and it's a good website. But don't expect to get any decent amount of coins even long term. The amount is beyond microscopic.

My opinion is there will be couple of currencies (3, 4 or 5 max), others will die eventually. So 1st is Bitcoin, 2nd is Litecoin, other places are less known...time will show.
Agreed, I think there will be a small handful in a few years time, if not less. However I think people will be surprised about which ones survive that long and become widely used. There are a few new currencies that are very promising and in many ways better than bitcoin and litecoin. The vast majority of coins though, are absolutely worthless. A good way to find out which ones to trust is to find ones that have active devs that know what they're doing, an active community, and innovations (new way to distribute, companies like Karmashares, etc). If it looks like a slightly different version of an existing coin, don't even waste your time.

I'd heard about it in chatrooms/channels of games years ago. Most people thought it was a joke that would never last by nerds who didn't understand currency, so I didn't have enough faith to spend time learning how to mine at the time. Wish I had, I'd be a millionaire. I got back into cryptocurrencies again now that I have money to invest and kept seeing dogecoin on the front page of Reddit.
