First, accept that no one both reputable and for the long-term will accept anything more than small amounts directly charged to credit for a bitcoin.

Now. Not that I recommend ever being so "desperate" to get into bitcoin that you would use a CC to fund it, but during the run-up to $260, my little brother did the following around $60:

(I preface with that because the "fastest" method results in what are best described as convenience fees, easily a good investment during that period of monumental rise; perhaps not at the current time, depending on why you want coins.)

1. Cash advance credit card.
2. BitInstant or similar to Bitcoin address.
3. Congrats, you have bitcoins. Holy balls, that was pretty easy... and took like 30 minutes tops. I don't know why anyone is discussing any of these other methods, honestly.

You now probably will incur large finance charges, because even brand new cards with 0% intro rates do not have 0% on cash advance. There is usually (1) a % on the cash itself, probably circa 3%; and (2) large monthly interest. If you accept (1) for convenience, there are two ways to avoid (2). My brother utilized both, because he maxxed three cards.

Method 1: Pay off the balance on the card(s) the first month.
Method 2: Transfer the balance to a new card. Competitive cards almost always offer 0% balance transfers to entice you. Thus turning your "high" % cash advance interest into intro 0%.

He also dumped at $220, and only bought back in a week or so ago, for $105. Seems he probably made smart choices. Risky, but smart.

Uberlurker. Been here since the Finney transaction. Please consider this before replying; there is a good chance I've heard it before.

"First, accept that no one both reputable and for the long-term will accept anything more than small amounts directly charged to credit for a bitcoin. "

I disagree.  So far, most attempts at solving CC for BTC have failed to fraud, but that doesn't mean the problem is unsolvable.  Currently a few groups are successfully offering bitcoins for credit card, but all require identity verification via passport/id upload and charge around 10% markup to MtGox or CampBX prices.  Right now I'd recommend:

BuyBitcoins.com - Definitely the best interface and easiest way to buy coins, coins are delivered within a few hours, sold at 10% markup
BtcQuick.com - Cheapest option at only 7.5% markup with a $2.00 registration fee, but new version of the site is very difficult to use (almost unusable).
VirWox - Coins sold around 12% markup.  Site isn't designed for bitcoin, so the process of getting coins is a bit convoluted, requiring you to add USD, buy Linden $ then trade this for Bitcoin.

buybitcoins isn't terrible, I can generally use 3-4 cards a week on them and 50% or so of the scans I submit work.

The easiest way for you to buy Bitcoins with your credit card would be to get a cash advance set up on your CC account, withdraw money from an ATM, buy a MoneyPak, and exchange it for BTC with a reputable seller.

(Way less fee's this way, you save a lot of money)

What I ended up doing (being impatient as I am) was buy dogecoin from weselldoges.com, transfer it to Mintpal, trade to bitcoin. Probably better ways though.

(Way less fee's this way, you save a lot of money)

So this is indeed the most secure way.
Withdraw the money your self, put them in your account and make bank transfer to Bitstamp or a reputable seller.

Alternatively if you don't have cash advance you can use Western Union to send the money to a friend/family member and pay with your credit card. Then pick up the money with your friend/family member, deposit them in your account and do a bank transfer as above.

Everything else involves third parties and although they might be trusted there might be a doubt about them.

You can find the fees here (https://www.virwox.com/help.php#_Fees).
Basically there is a fee of 50 SLL + 2.90% for USD/SLL and another fee of of 50 SLL + 2.90% for BTC/SLL.

You will also have a low limit (60EUR in 24hr and 180EUR in 30days) for paypal deposit at first.

You have 2 options for buying bitcoins with a credit card. I've also seen some new sites coming up like coinMX and meetpays but I'm not sure how relevant they are (not well established yet in my opinion).

If you are from the US I think coinbase might be your best option, not sure about other places but the preparing-to-launch exchangers like circle etc... might be your solution  Wink

http://TruCoin.com -- buy with credit or debit card.

Currently in beta, but those on the list are getting invites.

As far as some background on TruCoin -- at one point in time (before there was a Bitcoin Foundation), TruCoin paid a salary to Gavin to continue as lead core dev and they also hired someone to do QA on the Bitcoin client.
