1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy's Legal Situation on: April 01, 2016, 05:12:56 PM
They're legal situation is that they have not paid what they owed, and have done absolutely nothing to pay back what they owe.

That's not quite correct - they may have lost BTC and LTC but they have other coins and should have returned them. For example here is their doge cold wallet address:

https://bitinfocharts.com/dogecoin/address/DDTtqnuZ5kfRT5qh2c7sNtqrJmV3iXYdGG

There are coins there, which means they can return doge to customers if they choose - am not sure why this didn't happen.

this is where things get complicated, and why, again, you are fucked because you gave your coins to someone else who is an asshole.

if they really lost those bitcoins and are going to declare bankruptcy, they can't just give you back your doge.

using round numbers for example, if they owe people 1 million dollars, but only have 500k of assets, everyone needs to share the burden equally (unless there are some creditors who have priority for some reason.) You don't get all of your doge back just because they didn't lose your doge while someone who has 1 btc there gets nothing because they lost BTC, that's not how it works. Especially now that they've admitted that they are insolvent. Everyone has to share the fucking equally, not just the people who lost certain coins. Giving you are your doge back while they are insolvent moves them into a new version of law breaking.

As far as I know they opened a few wallets so they have already crossed that bridge and are a new version of a$$holes

Yeah you would think that anyone working for or connected to cryptsy would want to give us as much information as possible if they were really hacked. Then again, they waited a year and a half to tell us there was a hack to begin with.

I think unless BigVern is trialled in a court of justice, we will never know the truth. He could be involved in the theft.

That's what a lot of people are saying.  Even if he wasn't involved with the theft, he knew about it for a year and a half and didn't tell the customers.  So customers kept depositing money which Vernon used to pay off withdrawal requests until the money ran out.  Either way, he cheated us.
I think we will never know???

I think we all know. But some if us are living in denial. That guy went away rich with our coin. it was just too inviting.
3  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy plot thickens on: February 25, 2016, 03:01:42 AM
But still  i have on cryptsy 0.5 btc can i expect that it will comeback to me.

I still have a negligible amount there.

I guess all we can do is keep checking to see if the process of unlocking wallets continues at some point, it seems to have ground to a halt for now with the last announcements on the site and the blog at the beginning of the Feb.

If you are an American customer, you can join the class action lawsuit based in Florida.  There is a chance that you could get a very small portion of the money back.

Well, in the end it will turn out like GAW, a slow death.
I think these guys will not get what they deserved. That's why they are doing it.
No honor, so being a public vilain is something they can live with..

I think Mr. Vernon is going to have to be a public villain for the rest of his life because I'm sure that he had customers all over the world.  It may be hard to hide from all of them.
Oh I don't know. Change name, change look, dump the squeeze who can be tracked, with all that money you can get pretty invisible as long as you are willing to say goodbye to yesterday.
4  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy plot thickens on: February 24, 2016, 04:42:41 AM
Maybe they can do the same with Big Vern.  But if it's true that some of the coins were stolen, then someone else has a lot of the money.

All the coins were stollen... By Vern

i have a pic of the hacker, can i get a % from bounty ?

I think he is in China with his girl friend. That is from the court document against him by his wife. Shall I get the bounty?
Ha ha! Its amazing how many were defending this crook. I just hope he gets what he deserves.
7  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy plot thickens on: February 05, 2016, 07:01:35 PM
I don't care if he never comes back as long as someone brings his nuts back to America in a ziplock bag.

That should be worth what I lost.
8  Economy / Exchanges / Cryptsy plot thickens on: February 05, 2016, 03:41:51 AM
Yes, the plot does thicken. I have to say I am not very surprised to see it was an inside job.
Hope the guy fries.

Why do people expect the feds to just know what's going on in every corner of the internet?

Because they built a huge mega multi million dollar facility to funnel every bit and byte through the US of A to do exactly that...

And where does something like this fall on their list of priorities?
Not sure where it falls under their priorities.

If I deposit $10,000 cash in my checking account, they want to know right now where I got it!

Thing is, there is a class action lawsuit. What I don't understand is how under a class action lawsuit these guys are able to distribute part of the assets to select alt coin holders.

10  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy Hacker identity incoming - pending bounty on: January 29, 2016, 02:19:16 PM
Still what they are saying is they still have a little coin left.
Part of it is yours but they are going to distribute what is left to whom they choose.

What I want to know is, where are the fed's?
11  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy Announcement 1/25/2016 ?? on: January 28, 2016, 02:24:02 AM
So what do you think they are trying to achieve with allowing minor coin withdrawals but no trade?
Unfortunately I had my preferences set to auto sell into BTC or LTC all the alts I deposited.

Has anyone seen a plan from Cryptsy about how they are going to get out of this mess? They have had a year and a half to think about it.

The plan is to take your money and run.
12  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy.com is down on: January 26, 2016, 01:32:53 AM
I guess it depends on what side of the fence your on. If your coin is A-B-C your feeling pretty good!

If you coin is X-Y-Z or in BTC you probably Angry

13  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy Hacker identity incoming - pending bounty on: January 22, 2016, 05:51:33 PM
No, don't misunderstand. They only released a few alt coins, not all of them.

They pick and choose who is getting paid. And when!  So if the market falls and you ever get your coin back it is worth...less Tongue

Yeah, this is very suspect...declaring insolvency and preferring some customers (those with alts) over other customers (those with BTC). This is also quite illegal. Does he need a powershovel to dig himself a bigger hole with the authorities?

How is this illegal?

You can't just shut down an exchange then choose to disperse the remaining assets to a few customers.

In addition to that, since they knew of the theft and did not report it. Instead trying to do it cowboy fashion and fix it themselves.

They say they contacted the FBI with no response. I just have one question here.

Do you believe that?

Heads will roll.
15  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy Hacker identity incoming - pending bounty on: January 22, 2016, 05:56:45 AM
Oh nice! of you had you money in a select coin you get your coin back But if your coin was not on the list, well they just decided that you could foot the bill for their incompetence.

Truly an inside job and I am surprised the feds have not picked these guys up.
I cant even think of how many laws have been broken in this cover up.

These guys are sure to flame soon.
16  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy.com is down on: January 19, 2016, 04:42:57 AM
I think you can forget any refunds.
But there is a class action lawsuit. This was a Florida based company. So the FBI will be involved.
I can't imagine how anyone can develop a coin and get it on the market totally anonymously.
Whoever designed and embedded the Trojan in the lucky7 coin or what ever the name of it was.

That guy should not be hard to trace and find. Easy pickins for the FBI

I think it will be a fun show to watch. I think some people are going to go to jail over this.

I am getting warm and fuzzy feelings about it. :-P I doubt I will ever get my coin back.
But still might get some satisfaction in the end.

17  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy.com is down on: January 19, 2016, 01:13:03 AM
The site is there but nothing works
18  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy.com is down on: January 18, 2016, 04:34:23 PM
I was only trading. I would come in and check my coins but I never spent the time reading boards like this.
I never went in the chat so I never knew anything was going on. The site worked all the time I was there.
I would go in and set my trade and leave.

But yes, there is a class action lawsuit and if those guys stole it themselves or one of their employees there is likely to be a continuing saga.

And yes a very sight chance that the some of the coins might be recovered if it was an inside job.

I think the way they covered everything up indicates it was inside. Should be fun to watch.

19  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy.com is down on: January 18, 2016, 05:56:23 AM
just when price is recovering:(

maybe it is just temporary issue and they will be back

I dont know if they will ever be back but I agree; just when the price was recovering. I had some coin in there myself.

I imagine the story is not over. With a lawsuit pending there may be more to the story. So much can be traced.

For example I read somewhere the guy sold the LTC at BTCe, that should almost be traceable. You have to be tied to an email. I know there are anonymous emails. But like I said. so much is traceable. Something was shady or they would not have tried to hide it.

Perhaps a little investigation might reveal a little more. A lot of laws were broken.
