1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitMarket.Eu has closed down. A new secure site Bitalo.com is coming soon. on: June 13, 2013, 10:38:13 PM
It seems that after starting processing a handful of the payouts, he has now stopped - the last transaction appeared to have change of over 250 bitcoins (and maybe more remains in the wallet?). Why was it interrupted, and why not pay out a batch of them in a single transaction rather than a whole bunch of individual ones...?
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is the blockchain messed up or did I get screwed out of bitcoin? on: April 10, 2013, 07:36:26 PM
I see that both transactions are now well-confirmed. So if you'd not meant to send both, any return of overpayment would be up to you to sort out with the recipient.

... my transaction calls on many different inputs...
This is your basic problem.
If you compare the following two transactions:
https://blockchain.info/tx/6030f180a49391f052ad23dc21fa617c4eda4cffec0f88b2287f8a463b9f774f
https://blockchain.info/tx/f3a513986ac4c06d57331e79e641da0d0e966c5c0ac305267285fbf679f7b8e4

you'll see that the first spends lots of inputs, so the total space required in a block (and thus the blockchain) is 3680 bytes, because it needs to provide lots of different signatures to lots of different inputs.

The second, however, sends the same BTC value to the same address, but only spends a single input. As such it requires only 259 bytes of space in the block.

A miner will much prefer the second one to the first... indeed, it could fit 14 different transactions like the second one in the same amount of space in the block as the first, making it over an order of magnitude more profitable for the miner.

Both are valid, and should EVENTUALLY be included in a block... it's just that the first has a lower fee than much of the network would expect for a transaction taking up so much space, so will likely take a long time to confirm.
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitMarket.Eu - ownership changed (in a way) on: March 27, 2013, 10:12:43 PM
That's exactly the case. These were "leftovers" from the hack.
The current balance on the site is 54 BTC, and user account balances is exactly 659.13716811 BTC. So there's about 600 BTC missing...
... so if 22 BTC was transferred somewhere safer in the transaction I linked in my last post, where are the other 32?

Why not sweep ALL the remaining coins in the wallet rather than just taking 22 BTC out and leaving at least 0.01 of change (and any other unspent coins still in the wallet)?

Looking a little further I see that the bitmarket.eu wallet had another 29.8 bitcoins taken out of it on 1 March, which unless I missed something was 2 weeks after the last disclosed loss:
https://blockchain.info/tx/a84ae93f7317a69f6916863f831c5a9e6ee00a0ef91fd3b219dbff0069b12f9e
(the "change" from this transaction was spent in the transaction I linked above).

I don't see any mention of something that would have resulted in a legitimate transaction at that time.

Was THAT a further theft? Is there something else you've been trying to hide, or hoped nobody would notice?

I note that in the meantime, further bitcoins appear to have been "stolen" ... this transaction from just 4 days ago spends 22BTC, of which at least part I can confirm belonged to addresses within the bitmarket.eu wallet:
https://blockchain.info/tx/ead9566d9be7cdee9eaede4b104375550ea4bd0fb82527a81aca697843997e04

Hopefully this was just the admin moving them somewhere safer in order to distribute equitably amongst all debtors...?

7  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Announcing BitcoinGet.com - New site to get FREE bitcoins on: February 19, 2013, 10:17:08 PM
The change made it work for me (different address to the one implied by this username!)

Now getting credit for all of them [edit: except when the offer disappears while I'm watching the video], rather than maybe 1 video in 4 as it had been before... think I'd better bookmark the site - beats other ones that insist on paying out after every single video leaving a wallet full of dust.

I transfered some BTC to Bitmarket.EU 3 h ago but nothing is there on my account yet... Is this normal ?
Normally... no - it would be available to use on the site from the 3rd confirmation.

Today... yes - this topic has reports from other people who've not had their accounts credited and/or who are unable to withdraw coins: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5441.660
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitmarket.eu - a possible way forward on: December 21, 2012, 11:54:25 PM
Apparently I'm not allowed to post in the main bitmarket.eu thread, so I've posted my contribution to the site's support board instead:
https://getsatisfaction.com/bitmarket/topics/a_possible_way_forward

I was fortunate enough to not have any coins in the site at the moment of failure, having got my last withdrawals processed, but the site had seemed the most convenient way to turn relatively small numbers of bitcoins back into normal currency, without incurring international bank transfer fees... so it would be nice to have it back in some form, with management who can be trusted... and I expect I would donate some of the coins that might otherwise have been frozen if a credible way forward is implemented.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SatoshiDice double spending problem... on: November 24, 2012, 12:58:53 AM
I note that previous SatoshiDice problem thread just before mine suggested sending PMs to a couple of people.... but no idea whether those would be the same as I'd need to contact? Perhaps someone who knows could alert the right people?

As neither of the double-spend transactions have been confirmed at time of writing, will one of them get automatically cancelled when the other is included in a valid block or something like that? ... and if so will SatoshiDice automatically issue a replacement?

In any case, it's past my bedtime, so I'll just have to see if someone sorted out the problem while I've slept.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / SatoshiDice double spending problem... on: November 24, 2012, 12:08:54 AM
I was playing SatoshiDice a bit earlier - one of the bets didn't get a response for a while, and when the response finally came through, it shows as a double spend...
My bet:  02686699327f1fc47c9f77f21fd1dab0abdf2775fca3101264caddd97ab79e62 has had several confirmations, but the response 569300ffd2866072a710754de6b0706330656dce17645cf1784d873285a661ac is unconfirmed, and shows as a double-spend of one of the coins building the transaction (not mine!).

[Edit: copy-pasted wrong transaction in initial post - now corrected]

How can this be resolved?

Edit: hmmm... looking at https://blockchain.info/double-spends it seems that SatoshiDice is double-spending like crazy today ... so whoever's responsible for it is going to have a big mess to clear up somehow? Sad
