1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BTE] The Bytecoin Information Thread on: December 20, 2013, 05:41:51 PM
it is updating now. That was rather frustrating. Thank you!

I can't get the Windows bytecoin-qt to sync. I'm using version v0.8.1.0-beta and it has reported N/A for the current blocks since I've downloaded it a few weeks ago. All other altcoin-qt work fine. The log shows it gets addresses from DNS seeds but they all time out. A network sniffer shows the client sending packets but no replies except a few TCP CONNECTION REFUSED. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

If you give your IP and make sure port 6333 is open, we can send a connection to you.
You can open the debug window, go to the console, and type

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How To Sell BTC With a Paper Wallet on: November 13, 2013, 03:33:47 AM
If a person has a "paper wallet" how can they transfer BTC to another person.  I'm sure there are several ways, but what are they?

I believe mycelium for Android will do what you want. It has an option when you press menu for 'Cold Storage' which asks for the QR code of the private key.

It also allows you to export the private key which happens to be in QR format and easily fits in your pocket.

However, I've never used it and could be wrong.

Use blockchain.info as a last resort, or if you have an iPhone. Shocked
4  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [LIST] Physical Location that accepts bitcoin on: November 09, 2013, 03:02:41 AM
I went to Hudson Eatery tonight to show some bitcoin support, but no one there had any clue about paying in bitcoin. I'm not sure how it got on the list here, but they do not accept bitcoin or even knows what it is.   Huh
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Any Web Developer interesting in helping develop an exchange? on: April 25, 2013, 08:56:54 PM
So,

I've successfully coded the back end of a bitcoin exchange and I'm severely lacking in graphics and interface skills. I'm looking for someone with excellent web design skills that is enthusiastic about Bitcoin and willing to partner up. My vision is to make an exchange with the largest option of funding sources, making it easier than ever to buy/sell bitcoins. All at a low exchange fee (.4%) while adding fun ideas like 2 month free exchanges when referring a friend that trades, and half off trading sundays!

Your share is 25% of all exchange fees paid directly to you. If you're interested, shoot me an e-mail with a brief summary about yourself and why you'd like to partner up. Anyone in the New York City area preferred!

7  Other / Beginners & Help / Realtime Exchange FEE Calculator on: February 11, 2013, 10:25:48 PM
I started a Google Spreadsheet to calculate & compare exchange site fees, with a real time calculator using JSON to get the current exchange rate (or lowest ASK price) at each site. It isn't finished, but I'd like some feedback before I continue. The only data you need to input is the quantity of bitcoin you wish to buy. Current price/ask rates are updated from each site within a few seconds.

Google's sharing capabilities are lacking, so you will need to make a copy before you can modify the quantity. Just check back for newer versions as it is updated. If you would like to contribute, and knowledgeable with Google scripts, let me know and I'll provide edit permission.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Agfu67LVN53NdHdmOVVaX2lhLWQyblBuaF9FYjk2SVE&usp=sharing

Notes..
  • CoinBase isn't working yet, I can't get their API to work yet.
  • BitMe won't format in dollars, working on it..
  • The script uses price only from JSON sources, it does not factor in quantity available (yet)
  • Sometimes the ON EDIT triggers do not copy over, if the exchange prices do re-appear when you delete them, do this..
    • Tools/Script Editor
    • Resources/Current Project Triggers
    • Click here to add one now
    • Select options updateExchangeRate,From Spreadsheet,On Edit
    • Save, close and delete another BTC Price (Cells B4, B10, B14 or B19). These cells show appear immediately.
