Where can one get the different nodes info and addresses...? I read a post some time back that mentioned the DK "stratum+tcp://dk.kano.is:3333" and up until that time I was only aware of the addresses on the web home page so I pinged and pointed my hardware to DK.... So I'm one of the "6" using DK then I think... lol
Would like to get the other nodes addresses and perhaps ping each and see what is best from South Africa... Sounds like NL node is quite popular...? Any guidance please?

As of now, as I understand, you can try de(sg,jp,fr,nl).ckpool.org:3333 Okay that helped me to get some point to start... I pinged and NL indeed is top of list with DE coming in close in second best... Sorry for all the questions but Im new at most of this... Is it suppose to be nl.ckpool.org:3333 or nl.kano.is:3333 ? |

Well, it's not just S9s that find blocks here  S7s and smaller also do. -- Meanwhile, in the land of mining nodes ... I'm gonna get rid of the DK node in about 10-12 hours. No one has to do anything to their miners, since, I'll firstly, simply point DK at NL, then about 1/2 an hour or so later send anyone mining on DK a redirect to NL. Finally, when I stop the pool node itself, anyone still left will reconnect to NL, since DK will be pointing to NL by then. If you rent and mine to DK, then the rental may give up, since certain rental place's poxy software may not handle a redirect. Makes you wonder what you are paying that exorbitant fee to them for ... if they cant add that original stratum command. Right now, NL is ~580THs and DK is only 80THs, so not many people left on the DK node - about 6. The NL node is faster and better than the DK node, and also gets work from the main Vegas node faster than the DK node, so as I actually mentioned I'd do when I setup the NL node, it's now time to get rid DK. I'll post again when I'm doing it, but for the ~6 people mining on the DK node, it should just be a reconnect in cgminer. Yeah there will be some more ppl here on NL node, but it seems stable ATM. When you helped me to decide whether it would be DE or NL, I considered also DK node and did some ping tests and they were VERY unstable - I made around 20 ping tests at different time of day and they differed very much each time - from 30 to 200 ms. And on the NL node it seems all nice, since I've been there I have ZERO stales, but mining at the main node I had some stales. Greetings to you! I don't know the answer to your question as I've never flashed my S7's from the firmware they came with. I think the general rule of thumb is 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Many people have bricked their S7's by flashing it. Not all, but a lot. Then you will most likely have to send it back to the factory for repair. Now if you're having problems, that's a different story and an option. Additionally, you will get better answers in the hardware thread where this question should likely reside. I'm ready for a block party after-party today. So far we're off to a slow start. But that could change on a dime! Come on down, Blocks!!!  Thanks for your answer/opinion I appreciate! |

A while back, one of y'all had a recommendation re a colocating/hosting company, I think it was in WA state. I'm now having to look at perhaps doing that for some of my "spare" hardware. Please PM me if you have any info. Mahalo...  I sent you a PM on the subject... Firstly... Halo to you all here! I am kind of new and been pointing my gear to Kano for some weeks and follow this thread and discussion avidly and enjoy doing it! clgrissom3 I am also keen to hear more about hosting options that is any good for hardware that I cant keep at home due to electricity limits if you would share with me your info or experience that will be appreciated big time..!! Thanks I currently have a bunch of S7s at Toomim Brothers ( http://toom.im/) and I could not be happier with them. Jonathan and his brother are quick to act, knowledgeable, conscientious, and are great communicators. (think USA versions of kano and -ck ) Felicia, the Mistress of Accounts is a delight to work with. Email Jonathan Toomim at support@toom.im with any questions you may have. I know we have some here that host at Oregon Mines ( https://www.oregonmines.com/) and I hear that SideHack is full right now. I have the last of my S5s in a data center in Sweden (not recommended…cheap but not very responsive). The cheapest place I know of is Great North Data in Canada ( http://www.greatnorthdata.com/). I seriously tried to send a bunch of S5s to them but at the last second they decided that they would only take a new client if they had at least 30KW of hardware. My S5s at the time were only 10KW worth. I have not heard if they still have this policy or not. Thanks This is where i have my S7 at. Very good experience with them. The person that is in charge of the data center part is great. I have his Cell number and email to him also. They always respond to my emails and he will send me a text now and then to check up and make sure things are good. Thanks Ill go check them out a bit and let you know if it turns out that I want the direct contact info... Much appreciated |
