Advice to all newbies on bitinstant, use with caution. Many, many reports of missing money and bitcoins with them.

Did one TX to address today. Went through ok. Still waiting for confirmations though. I hope they paid the TX fee so it does not sit for weeks.

mason1515,

http://blockchain.info/address/14bYX8JufsG3h1ptxDgQ9DHp4nu3h9zmnp

Looks like 2.93 BTC went through to your wallet address a few hours ago.

It's too bad that BitInstant is charging the MtGox price right now considering it's completely artificial (MtGox closed USD withdrawals, so everyone is using their USD to buy BTC over there to transfer it out). The other EXs have more valids (market driven) prices.

I'm sure Charlie is laughing all the way to the bank right now. Quote from MtGox, buy on BTC-e. Instant $6 dollar profit per BTC.

Just wanted to let everyone know I did a cash-to-wallet (less than $200) an hour ago and blockchain.info shows that bitcoins have transfered to my address.

I just did a new transaction, as guest.

The final "Submit Transaction Confirm your order" page with the "Place Order >" button does not re-direct to any quote, order-id, reference# pages like before. It just stays on the same page, and opens zipzap in another browser tab when the button is clicked. Is this normal? Or is something wrong?

All I have is a zipzap account number and wallet ID (account ID). Am I good to go?

Can you tell us what percentage of orders are failing, so we can decide if to put it off for a few days or to take the chance?

Any changes in the regular process of cash-to-wallet? Like MG now requiring all transfers to ZipZap to show ID?

What does this mean?...

IDs required now all the time for any amount?

And ID verification for "guest transactions" will be about the same. We'll collect your name, email address, phone number and date of birth. You will still have to present your ID with matching name at the MoneyGram location.

We will have increased verification for our Account Holders. If you choose to create a BitInstant Account you'll have access to more deposit/withdrawal options as well as increased limits. We'll be posting a blog introduction to all the new features here as soon as we launch!

Is it true that MoneyGram, when sending to 9611 (ZipZap), will attempt to match their database of valid name/address combinations to what you entered on the form? Maybe not the first time that name/address is used, but for all future times (on 2nd attempt)?

The past two transactions are different. When entering the info into the dialpad of the red moneygram phone, as soon as you punch in 9611 for zipzap, the automated system transfers you to a human. In the past, this wasn't the case. The human requires a name, address, and phone number. They will not continue the transaction without this info. The name/address must match their database of valid name/address combinations. I've tried to give a post office box in the style of an apartment or office suite (like 123 main street #4839), and they say "that is a po box, we need a real address sir".  I bought a pre-paid phone with cash and use a friend's work address with permission.

Surely there was a reason given for rejection.  You haven't shared that yet though and I still don't have any particular case details.

You'd think so. But it's not really that fine-grained, MG just knew ZipZap rejected it, when that happened MG sent it back to me and created a new reference number for me to use on the form, and the other parties involved are either just as clueless, or have a reason not to share why the transaction failed so spectacularly.

It was a small transaction (between $100-$200), under the same exact name and info I used about 30 days ago to do a similar amount. No red-flags. Except I use TOR.

I'd think it was an error on ZipZap's side - related to the problems they were having the previous days.

The only thing related I could share is the zipzap account info, but they couldn't tell me anything, so I don't see the point in it.

Yes. I got the money back at the MG location. There is no issue now.

They said it was already waiting for me.

Previously, if something was wrong with the info on a MG or WU form, we would have to cancel it and get a refund, or fix it and send it again.

But this time I had to fill out a money-receive form. Because the MG representative on the phone said the transaction was rejected by ZipZap and the money was sent back. Everything was valid on my end, the account number, the company name and code, etc.

Looks like ZipZap was lying through their teeth, no doubt something they do even more easier then breathing.

After 24h of "support", were they ask for info that you already mentioned in the issue ticket, demand photocopies of receipts, wait hours and hours to get back to you, and close the ticket by telling you to go do the transaction correctly, all their lies have unraveled.

After going to the clerk desk and contacting MG, all this time, there was not a single thing wrong with the Express Payment; ZipZap simply rejected the valid transaction immediately after payment was made due to whatever issues they are having with their system; and the money was sent back via MG.

All they had to do was tell me this, but instead they force you to waist 24h of your time jumping through hoops for them. So they don't take any blame. Scum.

This can't all be coincidence with BitInstant also not doing cash transactions until Monday. You could have also stated that ZipZap was actively rejecting MG transactions.

After a long time, ZipZap got back to me and said the payment is stuck in MG. I've verified all the info was entered correctly on the form by me, so it's possible the clerk maybe mistyped something in...

But my questions are -

1. If I cancel and redo the ZipZap payment, after ZipZap notifies your system, will BitInstant still pick it up and send the funds to my bitcoin address?... Because it's now going to be 12-24h after the initial quote was made, and your public transfer-to-address function is down.

2. At what point am I locked into the USD-to-Bitcoin exchange rate? At BitInstant quote time, at ZipZap notification time, or at Exchange execution time?

ZipZap no longer is responding to my issue/ticket. I gave them all the info up front, they asked for it again, I sent a pic of the receipt, no reply from them again.

Looks like the money I sent is gone for good.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: June 07, 2013, 06:48:56 PM
They got back to me - they don't know what's going on.

I gave them the MG reference #, the amount paid, etc, in my support request / ticket.

And what do they do? They ask me for that info again. So now we have two support tickets, and above info mentioned 4 times.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: June 07, 2013, 06:30:23 PM
What would they need to verify?

I sent a little over $100 dollars. They better not be making me jump through hoops for this.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: June 07, 2013, 06:06:27 PM
I get that, and I did that. Still waiting on ZipZap to reply to my email.

I was just checking to see if you've had issues like this with ZipZap today, aside from that payment-slip not showing up thing that went around yesterday.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: June 07, 2013, 05:37:04 PM
What's the deal with ZipZap? Made payment about half hour ago, and their system (my account payment check) says it's still pending?

Last time their acknowledgment of payment was instant.

Is this normal now? Are others not seeing acknowledgment too?
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Without mtgox the price will be under $100 within an hour on: April 21, 2013, 03:34:14 PM
A major EX temporarily going down creates an increase of Buyers and a Decrease of sellers on all the other smaller EXs.

Normally this would move the price of bitcoins UP.

But it moves it down because all the market manipulators who run the prices up with small incremental buy orders (to take advantage of naive buyers who don't take volume into consideration) mostly live on MtGox. And without them the real supply meets the real demand.

"Panic selling"? Who would "panic sell" because their EX is going to be shut down for a day? And how exactly are those panic sellers going to verify, and set up accounts on the other EXs in that time-frame, and be able to then transfer their coins in time to those EXs - to "panic sell"?
20  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Don't give Bitfloor your bank routing numbers! on: April 19, 2013, 09:33:22 PM
However, if someone wants to be a thief, why not steal my money?

The fact that (some) people were given (some) warning about what was coming and even those that weren't have been able to get their coins out leads me to believe this wasn't a con-job. Why go for the USD and the ACH route but not take the lowest hanging fruit of all?

Why go for a few bitcoins and dollars when you can get every-single-person to give up their bank account details and have access to 100x more cash?

No one is saying Roman is going to start a bank fraud operation, just that this is so fucking stupid and you should not trust a folding business with more of your personal info that's going to need to be secured and maintained.
