Anyone actually got a Jalapeno yet?

Yes I have seen two different videos, probably meant for publicity and to quiet the critics and pundits.  Search the vids online : )

he's got to be saying a vga is an hdmi, i totally forgot about that... who uses a 7970w  a vga or even buys a vga from a store? that mobo doesnt have a vga does it? ill have to google the model #(im not going to actually google it) if he posted it... but most likely if it has newer pci slots like a couple 16x or even one that's 2.0 it has an hdmi, i mean my laptop from 2006 has an hdmi (its a macBook pro though Wink.  its gotta be a driver issue as he gets the tower home and puts the cards in expecting it to work but took the cards out and it worked in the store (ie he's not telling the store what the actual problem is)...a little detective work goes a long way.  don't over think anything here.  do what they did in the store then do what needs to be done to make the cards work w your system like upload drivers bc win7 doesn't have em pre installed i bet.  ::facePalm::

or just take everything to the store and have them do it--and they will say... Happy Mining Smiley

well, if you are plugging in the cards w/o the drivers installed from AMD and expecting the monitor to turn on you may be mistaken... also, plugging the monitor in the mobo vga slot with video cards in the pci ports may not work as well, as i had this problem i think w my friends rig.  unplug the cards and get the monitor working like they did in the shop, then upload the latest drivers from AMD to run your 7970's.  Also tell your wife that she can be of help with this as two brains are better than one.  Always take a break, and ground yourself from static before working on the system.  I'm kind of a newbie myself but sometimes the obvious isn't obvious to seasoned miners.  Hope you are hashing away shortly...

yup, or even craigsList them for a sandwich with an install included.  you can get decent hashing power off used cards on ebay for under $100 USD like i got two 5770's for 150 or so.  they need to be from the last few years and have like 1GB memory and 1000mhz to even hash .0001 coin a day.  Every dog has it's day and gpu's are soon to be as such... :-/

Not that I had a lot of NMC but it seems as though another exchange will be made? And start all over since most pools use NMC in their rewards?  Definitely something to keep in mind about this whole cryptoCurrency endeavor.
6  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Using a riser for older mobos? on: April 10, 2013, 05:16:19 AM
Just hooked up my friends bestBuy new ish HP w a 5770 in main 16x and a 1x16 riser connecting a 6850, after fiddling in cgMiner settings boosting fan, memory and intensity we got the 5770 to 196 and the 6850 to 140's for a combined 366 Mh/s gonna get another 1x16 riser for when the 5970 comes in and another cheap PSU.   I'm stuck w my MacPro 2,1 w x2 5770's  (280 in bitminter) and a 5970 I haven't hooked up yet bc I'm waiting on an OEM copy of Win7 or trying to bootCamp/reFIt Ubuntu w/o my 5770's flashed is not showing in boot screen? But apple logo appears.  So anyways 1x16 risers do work minus a few Mh/s as long as ur PSU is good.  We haven't unlocked or overclocked, just pushed about 75% of total power was all.  Staying on the safe side for now.  : )

if you can see where the NMC went then maybe there is hope in re creating an image before the crash, the latest update is that the disk image is unavailable from 4-7-13, any good news would be good to hear

I´m interested in BF Jalapeno but... always delay the order

very suspicious

Order a BFL 30 Gh/s today, or take that money and buy BTC in MtGox (do both;) , either way it will be a minimal and possibly lucrative investment.  BFL, if you approach them in a non-threatening way, is quite responsive and civil.  I am hoping for the best for everyone, even those who requested returns.  Keep on mining!!
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: April 02, 2013, 08:48:07 AM
Just finally breaking 280 (actually saw 318 for a sec) Mh/s w x2 5770 in a 2,1 MacPro 8 core using bitMinter client n fiddling a bit...looking to bootCamp Win7 then Linux n drop Windows I guess.  My 5970 is on its way though, so should be close to 900Mh/s by next week and gonna build a beater rig w an old tower maybe or recycled tower.  I could probably farm my MacBook Pro w the MacPro but I just learned of mining in the beginning of March.

Not a scam, just incompetent.

Bc ur ASIC build is gonna out perform both companies.  Lol, forget BTC/LTC these boards are gold.  What a grand new passive aggressive frontier in which we live.  I chose BFL bc of wattage, and I hadn't heard of Avalon/didn't have 75BTC which at batch 3 openish was 4,500USD-ish, now it's a lot more.  I have faith in BFL, they've delivered before and will do so again.  Put it this way, if you're posting on this board, you are already ahead of 95%+ of the people.  Get some BTC, save some, mine a bunch and look back at this time for a laugh bc we are all winners here.  I just stumbled upon this last month, I was minimally jaded/very skeptical at first bc I found out why my MacBook wasn't sleeping due to a netbot Trojan, now I can't sleep bc my starter rig is humming away.  I certainly can understand how months of waiting can drive you mad, but try to use that energy to good use.  I'd say the "real"money is building beater starter rigs n selling them on eBay but hey, what do I know.  Cheers to BitCoin Mining : )
11  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter client (Win/Linux/Mac, NEW: BFL and Icarus FPGAs supported) on: April 02, 2013, 04:40:17 AM
Hats off to Dr_Haribo!!  I had a 5770 in my Mac 2,1 going steady at 150Mh/s (I know about 2 yrs too late) I just recently added another 5770 w an external PSU (not really needed but have a 5970 on the way) I'm using 10.7.4 and w x2 5770 only getting 160-170 Mh/s.  I've been changing things up a bit to see if its my hardware configuration-- 5770 w stock PSU in slot 1 and 2nd 5770 in slot 4 ext. PSU for some breathing room.  I'm going to try beta version again, last week it wasn't too stable, but I was hoping in theory to get like 250-300 Mh/s so I'm kinda bummed.  I guess w osX there isn't much in the way of GPU manipulation w catalyst (tried AMD's site for downloads) my next step is to boot camp Linux or Win7 but really don't want to, and to switch to pci slots 1 and 3.  Now the MacPro 2,1 is pci-e 1.0 :-/ but everything I had read w Mac n 5770 had it at 150 Mh/s.  any suggestions w this would be appreciated.  I really do enjoy using BitMinter and will probably stick w it if/when my BFL ASIC arrives (maybe by June/July). Cheers and thanks!!

^^Merry Christmas.  As for the block size/difficulty--as it went up from 4mil to 6.9mil the value of BTC has almost tripled as far as I can tell.  And as for BFL, all good things come to those who wait.  If you ordered late 2012 then you'll be on the upside of the curve...it's the miners who order when actual products hit the market that will be behind the curve the most.  It seems Avalon batch #3 which was only supposed to be 600 has a queue of like 9k+ so maybe they are following the new standard.  But an ASIC in the hand is worth 10 in the bush...

Here's my request, been at this thing for a month but have a steep learning curve.  I might talk to a computer recycler Monday and see what we can do at his place, I at least want to build a 3 or 4 card rig and run a windows boot on my Mac...maybe
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to transfer bank account money to bitcoins on: March 24, 2013, 04:36:15 AM
as far as I know MtGox takes bank transfers, you just have to jump through the verify hoops.  They will give you a ticket # that your bank will use to send.  But bc of fees you should try n put in a couple hundred USD.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: March 24, 2013, 04:31:40 AM
I just set my friend's hP up w a 6850 xFx (I forget exact # :-/ or so and external power he's getting 130 stable using cgMiner in Slush's pool.  We tuned the GPU up to 140 or so but the whole thing crashed so we are just letting it chill a bit n not tweak intensity up, 140@ 13

What's better is that his cheap tv/monitor looks dope as hell w the GPU upgrade, depth and clarity and faster load times bc of the core bypassing its junk int.GPU haha : )
16  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: March 24, 2013, 04:22:10 AM
well it quite a disappointment that BFL units haven't shipped.  I have heard if you want to cancel your order they only give you the dollar value back not the coins you paid to get the unit.  Isn't that kind of ripping a person off if I paid 30 BTC I should get 30 BTC back, but I guess it was based of the USD price to begin with so its a little fair.

Until BTC stabilizes for a month or so, buying things in BitCoin can drive a person mad.  However, if you're mining them when they were in early stages then you got a deal and also did a pay it fwd to the BTC market.  As for BFL, I put in a day or so ago for a 30Gh/s single.  I look at it as something I'm investing in as well as BTC.  My order # is ridiculous, but it seems as though if they are building a robotic assembly line and many frustrated miner's are dipping out then it could pan out.  BFL order # of 15,000 are going for ridiculous money, like 1-2k so there is a demand for people who are patient.  Just like all things only time will tell.  Hopefully just like BTC there will be griping and hindsight ; )

60 gh/s with my ASIC

ASIC's aren't for noobs GoldenAngel lol, nice hashing though.  Waiting for mine, but until then 150Mh/s on a 5770 on a MacPro--I have an old 512MB 1xxx card I'm temped to try out on other slot but it seems there isn't any software for it?

trying to get questions answered in the newbie section is like trying to get substantial results using a mining rig that was productive in 2011 or earlier, help me squeeze some Mh/s outta my 5770 and 1xxx 512 pweese  Roll Eyes jk i'll keep on reading and thinking.  I really do appreciate all the info on these boards (sweet talk Wink
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is WAY too confusing for the average person on: March 22, 2013, 08:24:40 AM
Agree, if your parents cannot use it, it's too complicated.

So, since my parents are able to use bitcoin, this means is isn't too complicated, right?

My Mom was trying to throw USD at me today to get a buy in on MtGox.  I still have 0 oh wait .0009 NMC=0 lol.  I guess we both are up the BTC creek lol.

Ps my spamming question is

I just set up my new eBayed Mac Pro and put in a 5770 and have Bitminter running @149ish Mh/s.  My question is should I put the old Radeon 1xxx back in slot 2 even though bitMinter wouldn't recognize it?  I've been trying to run DiabloMiner on osX.7.4 to no avail.  Any thoughts would be swell.   PS I just drank the BFL 30Gh/s juice and don't care tee hee.

Want to sell something in the marketplace section, let me out... been lurking for months ...!!! Months I  say!!
I know a lot about bitcoin and smart enough to write "a lot" not "alot". Let me out! Let me be free x D

Hear our noob cries of pain and ignorance and lack of BitCoins lol
