1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v3.1 on: November 10, 2016, 02:57:08 AM
Does anyone here know how to get past the opencl error 0 #101 issues? I'm running a pair of older 6970s, and with every version so far I've had these errors pop up, one for each gpu. Then the miner proceeds to sit there and do nothing at all, or BSOD my system.

Sure, you just need to solder some more RAM chips onto your card and you're good to go! Seriously though, it's time for a new card.

Wow that was some really easy shit to say just now, yet that info was so very hard to find. So to be clear: ONLY GCN cards are supported. Got it! Thanks.. Cryptonight, I'm comin home baby :-D

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zcash, Revolution or Failure? on: November 02, 2016, 12:12:17 AM

The mindset that's needed by a sucessful coindev is a love of minimalism and good security awareness.

So basically the opposite of ethereum? I feel like their devs would stop every so often while developing the concept and look around at each other and in unison say "needs more cowbell". And this continued for a very long time. It just seems overly complex, and not just a little bit, heaps. And it hasn't done them any security favors either.

Its an example of (apparently) brilliant marketing and how mob mentality works.
99% of the people buying/ trading, mining have no idea about any of the technical aspects,
they only care about the hot new coin and a chance to make a few dollars.

It's kind of a sad comment on the state of the market actually,
but I guess that's human nature. (The desire to make money at whatever cost.)

People who lack the desire to make money at all costs are typically poor.. I know, I lack that desire. I also lack the skillset required to fully grasp the tech bhind this and many other coin. I do understand digital electronic hardware though, and this is a great way to become immersed in maintaining and modifying current computing gear :-D
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v7.3 (Windows/Linux) on: November 01, 2016, 08:55:14 PM
Today I tried existing miners, I don't like their stability and speed.
Ok, I will release first version of my ZCash miner very soon. AMD only.

Great news!! Equihash + AMD currently equals bug city. And the primary coin is worth more than 1 btc, close to 2.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Equihash GPU mining on AMD.. when will it happen? on: November 01, 2016, 08:06:35 PM
Thank you! I wasn't aware that there was a new Genoil release, I'll check it out even if it is buggy its better than nothing. Hopefully this all gets nicely sorted soon and we can gpu mine with simplicity.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Equihash GPU mining on AMD.. when will it happen? on: November 01, 2016, 07:48:03 PM
Im curious if anyone knows of a fully functional general purpose opencl gpu miner for Equihash? If not is there a definitive date at which time the functionality will be available?

Nvidia users are able to mine, as are all CPUs. But those who have AMD cards are unable to utilize them to profit similarly or mine as part of any pool, only one according to the internet, and I don't mine there. Most other AMD users running on Windows are left high and dry playing the waiting game while nvidia users enjoy healthy profits, which to me should not have happened as it boils down to lost profits and therefore lost money. GPU miners should have been held out of public view until they were ready to run on devices from both manufacturers. As it sits right now I don't know if I'll ever be able to mine in Windows using amd, I've been told "they're working on it" which is all fine and good. Except for the lost profits which are very very bad. Professionals wouldn't have released a half-functional product and then left half the user base without any option except to watch everyone else rake it in. Thats very poor execution. I'm primarily referring here to Nicehash and the miners that are included with Nicehash Miner, its my main pool.

Any info or update on this would be much appreciated! :-)

Regards

IMO (and only my opinion, NOT a recommendation or guarantee or anything like that) the only cloud mining service that I'm confident is legit is HashNest.com. Its owned and run by Bitmain, who make the very popular and awesome Antminer ASIC arrays. So it stands to reason that they actually have the hardware to back their system. They also have paid me steadily. That's all I will say. Caveat Emptor.

I also lost some "hashpower" (lulz) that I invested in HashOcean. Luckily thats all I lost, I had them set to pay out (vs. accumulate and reinvest) from day one pretty much.

i have received my todays payment from https://blockchain.info/address/3CD1QW6fjgTwKq3Pj97nty28WZAVkziNom

delayed yes, but i got it and it looks like they are sending more btcs.

Has anyone else gotten paid?

I have not, but it's still early where I am, and I did get paid yesterday after the site was already down so no idea what the real story is. :-/
11  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HashOcean disapeared and scammed 700,000 users ? ! on: June 27, 2016, 08:31:34 AM

of course they are not attacked, its just they reason to close their company. i mean, the reason that they said is to funny and unbelievable, and it makes me laugh.

None of this makes me laugh.. just pieces of my faith in humanity that get torn away every time shit like this happens. That makes me want to hit things... people... scammers... with a baseball bat wrapped in razor wire.

Also, www.hashocean.com is at least back to responding to pings very quickly and the IP is the same as it was. Could be nothing, could be something.. just thought I'd share.

All bitcoin cloud mining sites are just ponzis according to me and nothing.
All should be banned, as these are just tempting schemes trying to make people invest their hard earned coins into these fake services.

Because I know that there are legitimate ways to make cloud mining profitable, and not only that but in so doing help secure the blockchain on a scale not easily accomplished by the individual, any move to "ban" cloud mining sites who have at least shown that they do have working hardware and can obtain as much as needed for the investors (and yes at least one is out there.. at least one)  should have the burden of proving the miner as a scam placed on the accuser before any decision is made so that the person accusing the 3rd party mining firm must argue and prove that they are indeed a scam (not beyond doubt but convincingly). In the absence of any proof of profitability from the cloud mining entity when requested, an immediate ban would be beneficial indeed, until such proof is furnished at least. If that were enforceable it would make it a lot harder to be a mining ponzi.. but still not impossible.

Many bitcoin investor now learn the lesson ,don't invest what you can afford to lose, greedy kill you and make you poor.

So.. seriously can any of you guys with YoBit signatures either help me get to my wallets there or explain why they are keeping me from it? It's slightly amusing to see so many people talking about how dumb others are when they have links to a site that I HEAVILY suspect to be a scam in their sigs. For all intents and purposes they have robbed me by refusing access to my own coins on the basis that I keep getting "hacked".. And ever since the 2 "hacks" in 2 weeks on 2 separate computers with excellent malware protection with fully different logins than I use anywhere else their support has made it quite clear that returning my money to me is not a priority. It's a different sort of scam, but a scam nonetheless. The only thing that will convince me otherwise is my YoBit money in my personal wallet yesterday.

If it is the real stats that they got over 700.00 members, it's wow. Has anyone know their main wallet adress, it would interesting to check it. I think admins of Hashocean become millionaires with this ponzi scheme.

I hope it's good lesson that real profitable cloud mining doesn't exist and people will stay avay fom ''cloud mining' sites.

No reason to paint with such a broad brush imo, I have investments in several other mining ops which remain profitable currently, one of which is possibly a scam but the others I have on good authority are legit and I don't just mean simply because they pay me. Why add more FUD? All it does it hurt faith in crypto overall from my view.. Hashocean was the highest paying site of it's kind which was a good indicator to me that they were a possible ponzi, but it is certainly possible to profit more than your average mutual fund by investing in a 3rd party mining operation. The math is not always impossible. I couldn't recommend a site to anyone else if they paid me to right now though.. don't want to be responsible for anyones money but mines.
15  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HashOcean disapeared and scammed 700,000 users ? ! on: June 26, 2016, 08:53:40 PM
Kind of expected IMHO, buying into cloud mining is a one way ticket to loss of principal.

To be truthful (and at the risk of ire) I'm not convinced of the wisdom of buying into the exchange in your Sig either.. YoBit has been keeping me from my coins there for some time and isn't showing any signs of letting me have them any time soon.. :-/ But there's a whole different thread for that topic. VERY few good guys in crypto, gotta watch your back always and never work with more cash than you're willing to lose.
16  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HashOcean disapeared and scammed 700,000 users ? ! on: June 26, 2016, 08:38:16 PM
genesis-mining.com is also down!!!!

Maintenance mode is a bit different than down.. I can't even ping hashocean.com anymore. Multiple sites at once all part of the same market? Why all go out at once? Seems off to me, Genesis has such a different format than hashocean and it's lookalikes that I'd be pretty surprised to find they're run by the same people..

EDIT Genesis appears to be up once again.. I wonder if some of that collateral loss of trust I mentioned had to do with their downtime. I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending a cloud mining company at this time obviously but I have always considered them to be one of very few "good guys".
17  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HashOcean disapeared and scammed 700,000 users ? ! on: June 26, 2016, 05:20:56 PM
Thank God I didn't invest in this cloud mining ponzi schemes till date.
I never trusted cloud mining just because of this.

It's a gamble true, but there are legitimate cloud mining ops out there. If Hashocean bailed it makes it harder on them via colleral loss of trust. Hashnest and Genesis are 2 that pass most tests even by experts, hashnest is part of Bitmain so there's definitely a few TH/s of actual hardware tucked away here and there in their datacenters..

Wow, people sure like to overreact. It's been only couple hours, we have not missed a payout YET, we will see when the time comes for regular payout.

I was thinking this too.. I just got paid from them at 2AM Central US time. I had some invested there but not too much luckily. Diversify.. gotta do it especially here in cryptoland.. :-|
