1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [Stellar Lumens] (STR/XLM) What we know so far about and why its price went up. on: September 14, 2017, 09:59:08 AM
I'd like to push this discussion. Any more opinions to Lumens considering the past weeks?
For me Lumens still look like a good idea to buy. The price is low and the potential might be high since they do have a realistic market cap.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Ripple? on: September 03, 2017, 04:56:36 PM
100,000,000,000 XRP were created when Ripple was founded. They will not make more or less. XRP is destroyed every time a transaction occurs on the network so the amount of XRP decreases over time. They can, theoretically move the decimal point to create more or less XRP however this would not affect relative XRP holdings.

Thanks for this information. But wouldn't that mean XRP will become more valuable over time anyway?
3  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best Anti Virus Now on: March 24, 2017, 06:13:02 AM
Opinions are going far apart from each other here. As far as I know from working for an IT-Security company the safest anti-virus is an intelligent user. Especially in companies it is very important to give introductions for non-IT but also for IT departments for secure passwords, protection against social engineering, data safety and do backups all the time. The anti-virus itself is way less important than these aspects. But if I had to recommend a special software I would suggest Avast. It is lightweight, not annoying and usually doing a good job. Best would be the combination with Little Snitch to watch all network connections.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Augur and Ethereum on: March 22, 2017, 07:09:04 PM
Yep, because you're such a trustworthy guy people will take your words for it:Trust: -4: -2 / +0
Warning: Trade with extreme caution!

augur is a joke. i can blow your trust level to look like a rosie odonells period if i wanted to.

Why though? I mean Ethereum seems to be a steadily growing currency which is sort of connected with Augur quite a lot. How could it happen that "the good Ethereum" is in such a close connection to the "bad Augur"? I'm just asking since all the threads here are not really giving answers regarding the connection and also the bad reputation of Augur. Also I can't give any advice on Augur myself since I don't have any practical experience with it..

PN folgt gleich.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bytecent: Peer-to-Peer Rewards Network - Bytecent.com | AQRewards.com on: March 22, 2017, 03:21:30 PM
This just shows how speculative these coins still are.  That is changing, slowly, but surely.  We will eventually see value determined by measurable success.
Agree with this!

The whole Bytecent system seems to be very strange to me. Although I read how it works and checked out their "client" things don't really get more clear. Using a nicely built GUI is probably a good way to catch a lot of unaware users to push the whole network, but it can't work out very well for a long time imho
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] www.bitpanda.com Buy/Sell ETH/BTC with Visa Mastercard Neteller Skrill on: March 22, 2017, 02:21:47 PM
no bounty sir ??

Can you please explain what you refer to?

He's probably talking about some kind of loyalty program, bonus or special offer for buying on the page, although serious vendors are seldomly offering promotions like that.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] www.bitpanda.com Buy/Sell ETH/BTC with Visa Mastercard Neteller Skrill on: March 14, 2017, 10:45:46 AM
Today I purchased 600 Euro Amazon.de Voucher from Bitpanda, and everything was correct and OK.
Thanks from Bitpanda.

Did your purchase include ETH? Or just BTC? Since the ETH option seems to be gone from the page and I dont understand why. There is no official announcement or any hint as far as I can see
10  Local / Off-Topic (Deutsch) / Re: ACHTUNG vor BETCOIN!!!! on: July 10, 2016, 10:02:24 AM
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: what's the weirdest thing you ever found on Dark Web? on: June 13, 2016, 09:34:19 AM
Let's skip over the gore and porn.
I also assume we're going to skip all kinds of weapons, drugs, prostitution, hitmen and ponzi...

Which topics would even remain in that case? I thought the Dark Web is full of this stuff only...
Oh and don't forget money laundering, I guess this is one of the skipped and probably mostly faked topics anyway.
12  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Warning: New Hashnest Miners (Please Read!) on: May 31, 2016, 01:16:15 PM
Hashnest was ok, till a month ago. Their market is manipulated like bitcoin.

The prices are too volatile and some manipulaters are pumping it up and down.

My last days on hashnest are counted.

Could you please elaborate on your assertion a bit more specific? When and how much have the prices been pumped up and down heavily?
I'm just curious and would be interested in further information on your personal thoughts about hashnest. (EDIT: I know this is an older thread already, but newer ones are not focusing on that topic any more so I'd still be interested in that)
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: paypal or bitcoin? on: May 31, 2016, 08:27:11 AM
so when you were deceived by the merchant you can do dispute it. and you can get a refund dude Cheesy

Only as long as the money has been sent as an official transaction which is taxed for either the buyer or the seller. There are a lot of sellers who'd like to trick the buyer into sending a paypal payment via the "send to family and friends" option to "save the taxes". This way nobody has to pay taxes but the buyer/seller protection by the support team does not apply as well.
14  Local / Off-Topic (Deutsch) / Re: Also die Gurkentruppe nervt da oben nur noch on: May 31, 2016, 08:04:03 AM

Is it actually advisable to start mining bytecent at the time? Or in general?

I tried it out for a few hours yesterday but the client does not seem to work properly. Whenever it is closed, it can't be opened again. The starting screen pops up shortly, then it is dead and nothing happens. Anybody else with this problem?
16  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Compaq Asicminer getting really slow after some time on: May 29, 2016, 08:07:39 PM
Thanks for all the helpful hints, I really appreciate it.

I will try out all the tips and tricks soon but so far I still don't get why exactly the Y-cable would be a better/worse choice than the powered USB hub? The Y-cable gives more power to the stick and transmittes its data, okay. But the powered USB hub does the same, right? I mean it gives extra power by being extra powered  Grin Yet the Y-cable can pull even more power when the stick is being overclocked, did I get that correctly? Sorry for the redundancy, I just want to understand where the advantages and disadvantages are within both setups.
17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Compaq Asicminer getting really slow after some time on: May 25, 2016, 11:57:14 PM
You WILL need a mains powered usb hub and the Y cable.

Search for this EBAY number :- 231892484263

It's got two male usb ends that both go into one female end (the end where the gekko goes). One side of the cable is data and power and the other is just power so you can be sure the gekko gets power from two ports not just one.

Thanks for that information, I got it now. But a good USB hub with external power supply would replace that cable anyway, right?

Have a read through this thread:-

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1173963.0

It should have a vast array of answers for you. If not then post in there and someone will be able to help you.

Thanks a lot for that hint. How come I didn't find this thread before? I swear I was searching through the forums before  Huh  Smiley

don't know much about running it on bfg miner  I run my 12 on cgminer adapted to gekko compac sticks.
What external hub did you use?
hint a   y-cable  should help you
What windows do you use?
hint it works better on windows 7
i run mine on linux

Thanks for your answer. Looks like everybody recommends cgminer. By reading several threads before I thought bfgminer would be the better option but in this case I'll give cgminer a try.

-I'm using an EasyAcc H40 USB 3.0 Hub. Now I changed my setting and the mining stick is directly on the computer, only the fan is on the Hub. This works a bit better, but for some reason bfgminer stops working sometimes. After restarting it works again, just sometimes "no response". Could these issues correlate somehow? Anyway, I'll give it a try with cgminer anyway.

-What exactly do you mean by the y-cable could help? Where's the difference between a y-cable and an external usb hub? I guess the cable needs "less power", is that it?

-I'm using Win 7, didn't try it on my Ubuntu distribution so far.
19  Bitcoin / Mining support / Compaq Asicminer getting really slow after some time on: May 25, 2016, 12:30:36 PM
Hi, I am using my new USB Asicminer block erupter which has a hashrate of up to 16gh/s. After setting up everything with USB to UART Bridge VCP drivers it started working perfectly with BFGMiner with around 12gh/s, which was fine. It was getting hot so I used a usb driven fan to cool it.

After an hour I came back and noticed that the hashrate fell down to 6gh/s and slowly went down more and more. It was getting lower and lower but also falling down slower and slower. I tried another computer, but the same thing: After a few minutes the hashrate steadily got lower. Also the miner doesn't blink with its blue light as it did when it worked heavily, it's also not hot at all any more. Does anybody know what to do to keep the hashrate up?

Clock speed is set to 200 as suggested by BFGminer for compaq devices. Also the results are the same wheter I use the USB 3.0 ports directly on the computer or a fast external USB hub.

Thanks in advance.
